Hi all! I have questions for incoming or current college students that may come off as offensive, so I apologize in advance if that’s the case, but I’m genuinely mad curious. I hope we can have a respectful discussion about them.

A bit about me for context before anyone comes for my neck lmao 😂 my name is Haley, I’m a 29 year old incoming transfer student. I’m coming in as a senior and have amassed over 100 credits since graduating high school in 2015. Dropped out a few times due to not knowing what I actually want to do with my life, moving states, and having my son in 2019. All this to say that things are obviously a lot different now than they were when I first started college.

My questions for you all are: why is there such a heavy reliance on AI to do your work for you? Were you never properly taught how to write a paper or a discussion post? Is it having other coursework or sports taking up too much of your time, intellectual disability, procrastination, or something as simple as laziness?

I have written papers upwards of 15 pages using only the textbook, researching credible articles or journals, using the sources provided by the professors, and rational thought. It actually blows me how many people will just paste the prompt into Chat and submit whatever it provides without so much as proofreading it. And I just want to know why 🫣

I graduated high school in 2025 and went to community college to transfer to a university, I’m a year behind my peers o my graduation year is 2030, I will be transferring to gsu fall of 2027 and was curious of my chances of rushing a fraternity as a 20 going on 21 year old sophomore there. When I was considering UGA I found a fraternity that told me I was good with rushing with them and made good friends with them just didn’t know how it was at southern. If anyone has any experiences or recommendations lmk.

I’m moving back to Statesboro soon for uni and have been playing volleyball in open gyms for the past few months.

I want to continue playing but I’m not sure where I can play that’s acceptable for people of all skill levels in Statesboro.

Hey, I’m going to the Armstrong campus and need to take physics in the spring, specifically introductory physics. Does anyone have experience with some of the physics professors on the Armstrong campus? Who is the best to take online or in person (prefer in person)? I’ve looked at rmp but a lot of the reviews are old, so it’s hard to take them too seriously Thanks

So i just decided i wanted to go to southern, but i was wondering if im an incoming freshman with no housing am i cooked? will i get housing or should i just take a gap year or do something else. like what's the chances i get housing.

Okay so i ended up getting my room after a couple calls and i honestly don’t liek the room i got because it’s a triple room so all 3 beds in 1 room, i feel like that won’t really let me have any space at all so after my housing contract and j sign it is there any way i can get a different room or does it have to be a swap

So i’ve applied for housing back in around mid May and i have still yet to receive my housing at all. i been told by them that it’s supposed to take 1-2 weeks the 1 time i emailed them in around mid june. should i be worried or will i get my housing before the year starts. And if i dont get it before the year starts then what can i do.

Hi all!

I'm going to be applying to GSU next year and am trying to plan out my courses at my local community college. I found the equivalent courses available at my community college using their Transfer Course Equivalency Tool, but when I used their Transfer Credit Estimator to see if they'd transfer towards the core impacts for my degree, many of them either transfered as electives instead or weren't confirmed whether they'd transfer at all.

When I reached out to the Transfer department they said they wouldn't be able to offically confirm what credits will transfer until I've sent on an application and my official transcript. But I wont be applying until next year.

Has anybody dealt with this before? Do courses tend to transfer properly or would it be best to take the ones I'm unsure about at GSU?

Hello, I am a college freshman who currently goes to University of North Georgia Oconee 100% online and I am planning to transfer and go in-person to either GS Armstrong, KSU, or UGA. I have no clear career path. I do not know what I want to do. I was considering Radiology at GS and just volunteering at local hospitals near me to get a better idea of what that environment is like. I don't know the major I want from KSU or UGA.

I don't know what I like in life in terms of a career. I mean, I think I like helping people. I HATE corporate/9-5 lifestyles. I love leisure activities like travel, hanging out, seeing friends, trying new food. I'm sure everyone does but I don't know. I've made lists of "do's and don'ts" and preferences in my work style. Not the type of person to want to take work home with me. I also am a huge night owl, I work third shift and have always been the type of person that hates mornings and wakes up after 2 PM. I am social and can light up a room or make someone's experience better. I've only worked in retail so I have no idea what a career is like. Traffic kind of drains me a lot. I live in Buford next to the mall and the traffic eats me alive everyday. I know KSU is similar but my brain is basically like: "Well, if you live here, at least you have a goal to complete" and I can deal with it, if that makes sense. I also like animals a lot, but I don't know if I could incorporate that into a career. I also hate dress code, but can adjust accordingly. I feel like scrubs would be comfortable, at least more comfy than a corporate outfit.

Since I grew up in the Atlanta area, I think I want a change of scenery, and that's why I'm kind of leaning more towards GS Armstrong. However, KSU is close to me and UGA is right next to the Oconee Campus. I have no idea what I wanna do. I'm going to tour each of these campuses but I don't think a college tour can tell you everything about how the experience is like. I've taken SEVERAL college major assessments on what I should possibly do and I keep getting healthcare, science, or geographical/environmental science. I was thinking about doing UGA's Ocean Science major because I love the beach and learning the science behind it but once again, I don't know.

I feel like if I choose one school or one program, then I am missing out on another opportunity. My brain is trying to combine or do everything at once and it's very overwhelming.

I'm knocking out a LOT of my pre-req's at UNG for the Radiology program. I have a really high GPA and will be taking labs in Spring 2027 to try to enroll for the Fall 2028 Radiology program.

Any advice is extremely appreciated! Seriously, I am so mentally drained from trying to make a decision.

Wondering which lot option provides the best parking and when commuter permits usually become available for purchase. I’m hoping some fellow students can chime in and share their experience with this dual camera requirement for remote class exams.

This was not an enforced GSU-wide policy for spring semester. Supposedly, this is a mandate and not teacher specific. Weird that they would not make a larger announcement via email. Let’s say they rolled it out for Summer:

I’m not normally this regarded but I’ll take responsibility for it.

After you scan the QR code, a browser opens up and says begin exam. In Firefox, there are no identifiable characteristics to determine if the camera needs to point via front or rear camera towards me and the desk.

3. In a wild effort: scanned QR code for browser then switched to camera to see myself. Bad idea, this ended up locking the phone, and since you can’t look away from the laptop camera, there is no in session corrections allowed.

Three weeks, three exams where the second camera has not worked successfully. I’ve been in communication with the PhD candidate the entire time trying to resolve this. Due to policy, my grade was flipped from a 95 to 0.

Outside of going to campus to take the exam, please send any recommendations or suggestions my way. I’d also be interested in knowing how to navigate appealing the 0.
