REPP students — do we actually need GGC 1000 / Choice for Life?

Hey guys,
I’m a new REPP student planning to transfer to GT/KSU for engineering. My advisor put GGC 1000 (Choice for Life / First-Year Seminar) on my schedule for this semester.
Just wondering if this class actually transfers over to GT, or if it's just a GGC thing? Did you guys have to take it or were you able to drop/waive it?
Appreciate any info!

Financial Aid First time user. Negative balance?

Post image
2 Upvotes

This is my first time receiving a Pell Grant, so I’m not familiar with how the financial aid process works.
After my Pell Grant was applied, my student account now shows a negative balance. Does this mean I’ll receive a refund, or is there something else I need to do?
I’d appreciate it if someone could explain what a negative balance means and what I should expect next. Thank you!

Fall 2026 Admissions taking up to 4 weeks & July 30 Payment Deadline - What happens if I get accepted late?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the process of applying to GGC for the Fall 2026 semester. My application status is currently showing as "ready for review," and I was told it could take up to 4 weeks.

However, I noticed that the tuition payment deadline for Fall 2026 is coming up on July 30.

I have a few questions for those of you who might have experienced something similar or know how GGC handles this:

  1. If my admission decision comes out after the July 30 payment deadline, will my deadline automatically be extended, or do I need to contact Student Accounts immediately?
  2. Since admissions might take a while, will I still be able to register for my core classes (especially for Engineering/STEM pathways) if classes start soon after, or will I be pushed to Session B / next semester?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Weed/Cigarette Smells on Campus

Is there a problem of weed/cigarettes smells being prominent around campus? I'm a incoming freshman who's going to live in the dorms, and I remember smelling smoke despite the school calling themselves smoke free. (although idk if that's true)

Electric Scooters

I’m considering getting a cheap electric scooter for days where I’ll be stuck parking in the far lots like parking lot D or the parking deck. At this point, I’m even considering parking in these further areas regularly to avoid having to hunt down a parking spot in the other more closer/popular lots.

For those of you who use electric scooters to get across campus, any tips or advice you can share?

Is it pretty easy to ride and adjust to? What brand do you have or specific scooter model would you recommend?

Do you fold your scooter in half and carry it to class? Not sure if there’s a way to lock it up outside like a regular bike, so that’s why I’m asking. I’m unfamiliar with scooters, so sorry if this is a naive or dumb question.

Q&A Experience interning at GGC?

hello!

i was recently offered an internship position with GGC’s athletic’s department, which I’m stoked about. This isn’t my first athletic-related internship I’ve done, but it is the first with GGC, and I’m curious if there’s anyone else who’s been offered a position like mine that has any experience with it they could share with me—whether good or bad. (It doesn’t have to be with the athletics department, but if it is, that’s a big bonus!)

thank y’all!

Financial Aid Do Not Wait Until The Last Minute

If yall haven’t paid for your fall tuition or have any questions related to financial aid, student accounts, student advisement, registration, etc, DO NOT WAIT UNTIL JULY 30TH!!!

Do not wait. Everyone waits. And every year on the tuition deadline date, D Building gets flooded by students and their parents who all procrastinated until the last minute to get their affairs in order.

Do not wait.

There will be lines out the door. The wait for financial aid will easily be 1 hour and you will be waiting and waiting. The line for student accounts will end at the door. The one stop shop will be slammed. They will have someone with an iPad asking you questions while you wait in line to speak to an academic advisor. The line for parking services will go all the way to the Claw Card office.

I cannot stress this enough. If yall have any questions, go this week. Get it done. It will take 20 minutes max. Do not call. Do not email. Go in person.

The parking lot will be full if you wait. If you try to call you will never get anyone on the phone. If you try to call another department they will transfer you back to who you were trying to get in contact with. If you email they will not get back to you.

The 31st is going to be the biggest new student orientation we have had in years. Over 800 students. So D Building will be a ghost town because we will all be helping out. So no one will answer the email you sent the day before.

I cannot stress this enough: do not wait.

And don’t wait until the first day of school either. The first week of school is horrible for D Building. We are slammed. People line up outside at 7:50. Get your claw card now. Get your parking sticker now. Do not wait because everyone is going to be slammed with issues.

Please do not wait. Get it done before the 30th! Especially if you’re an incoming freshman! Bring your parents but do not wait! We will all be able to help you way more now than we will on the 30th with lines wrapped around the building!

Parking

The previous post stated that there’s 800 incoming freshman for the fall semester… As a new student myself, it doesn’t seem like there’s enough parking spots as it is which is worrisome… Should I be getting to school earlier on the first day of school to try to secure a parking spot? If so, how early exactly? Is 1 hour before class sufficient? I’m expecting a bit of a shit show honestly, but not sure if I’m overworrying about this since I’m new to campus. I just don’t want to be late to my first day of classes.

Post bacc degree seeking vs non degree seeking

Hi! I’m thinking about doing a DIY post bacc, but I’m not sure if I should enroll as a degree seeking or nondegree seeking student.

I already have a B.A. in Psychology and have taken some science courses, but I want to retake some of the basic sciences like Gen Chem and then take more upper-level science courses for grad/professional school.

Is there any benefit to being degree seeking instead of non degree seeking? For degree seeking do you have to follow a set course schedule? I know non degree you are on your own.

Is it easier to register for classes or get financial aid? Any leads would be so helpful. I’ve try reaching out to the school but they have been pretty unresponsive. Thank you so much for any help!

Fall 2026 Missing From Banner Account Detail Dropdown Box

Is anyone else missing the Fall 2026 Term on the list of terms to choose from when looking at your account details?

Even if I manually type it in, it doesn't show up. I've been a student for a while and this has never happened before. I'm worried because tuition is due soon and I need to see what's going on. Anyone else having this issue?

Here to Clean Up Financial Aid Confusion for the summer

Hey! Ask questions, I’ll edit this thread with answers or simply reply to you!

Here’s one I recently asked, then found the answer to.

Why haven’t I received the rest of my refund?
Session A and Session B can vary for the summer. Check the beginning and end of your courses to determine which is A, B. Also, if you have Pell, you will most likely receive that first. Hope comes in later.

Summer refund

I’ve tried reaching out to financial aid several times. I’ve sent emails and nothing. How are you guys reaching financial aid by phone? They can at least give an update so we can know what’s going on. It shouldn’t be that hard to communicate with their students.
