There are children who grew up in the wild west who saw the moon landing when they were old. These children are growing up with the birth of advanced robotics. What will their world’s transformation look like for them?

And how likely do you think people who were born even before these kids (1980-2010) will see things they believed unthinkable at the end of their lives? I think we’re in the midst of a transitional period, and I think the young adults of today will just barely live to see the very beginning of the new era.

Will AI lead more people to lean more toward trans-humanism or a more biologic immortality where we keep our organic forms? And, more importantly, which one is morally/ethically correct?

There are two major philosophies of futurists on the next evolution of the human race. One says the human population will need to merge with computers and machines to achieve immortality and forevermore explore the expanse of the cosmos, and the other says we both should/ought and want to keep our biologic forms as evolution led us to, and become biologically immortal (that is technologically find a way to keep our [roughly] homo sapiens sapiens form until eternity (and whatever evolutions come after that), achieving whatever we can in that form until we inevitably "pass the torch" onto whatever (we deem worthy) species(')(if that day ever comes). Personally, I subscribe more toward the biologic side of keeping our naturally born forms for however long we can to achieve what we want rather than transferring our consciousness (which may not even be us anymore) or technologically changing ourselves so much that we're not even human anymore (a type of biologic Ship of Theseus philosophy [Biohacking]). Additionally, whether our thoughts are for or against, what do the @ethicists say? I am new to posting to blogs, so if anyone thinks linking this to other sub-reddits is worthy, it would be appreciated. Godspeed and Live Long and Prosper.

💡 A Thought Experiment: CyberSatellite

I've been thinking about a concept I call CyberSatellite.

Today, software is tied to devices, servers, or cloud instances. My question is:

What if a digital entity wasn't bound to a single machine?

Imagine a future networking model where a "CyberSatellite" exists as a mathematically encoded, self-verifying state that continuously propagates through a participating network. Instead of having a permanent home, its identity is preserved through its encoded state, with redundancy allowing recovery if parts are lost.

In this vision:

It is defined by its state, not by a host.

It can be reconstructed from redundant fragments.

It periodically broadcasts its status to participating infrastructure.

A new protocol would be required to support such a model.

I'm not claiming this is possible on today's Internet. This is a research idea and thought experiment that explores whether future network architectures could make applications more mobile, resilient, and independent of individual systems.

I'd love to hear from people working in networking, distributed systems, coding theory, and edge computing.

Has similar research explored this direction?

What are the biggest technical obstacles?

Could future network architectures make ideas like this practical?

Innovation often starts with asking "What if?" I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Actual question does anyone else think they’ve invented something akin to immortality but who ever hasn’t isn’t sharing it or telling us?

. If you know where it is or what it is tell I’m serious . Sounds like a joke but it’s always worth asking.

Passive Energy-Harvesting Autonomous Reconnaissance and Optical Countermeasure System for Asymmetric Interdiction

Hello community,

I would like to share a conceptual tactical framework for low-observable, long-endurance autonomous unmanned units designed for prolonged static concealment within vegetative canopy, terrain anomalies, or desert environments.

How it works: The units feature a passive energy replenishment architecture via integrated high-efficiency solar arrays, allowing them to remain in a zero-emission, deep-sleep power-saving state indefinitely, exhibiting no detectable thermal or radio-frequency signatures.

The system utilizes localized low-power passive acoustic or optical triggers for activation. Upon automated threat detection, the unit deploys a low-power laser dazzler subsystem.

The Countermeasure: Instead of kinetic destruction, the directed energy payload targets the electro-optical, infrared (EO/IR), and digital imaging sensors of passing vehicular columns or enemy reconnaissance UAVs. The automated countermeasure loop induces temporary sensor saturation or permanent focal-plane array degradation ("blinding"), neutralizing enemy situational awareness while maintaining a low thermal signature. Following engagement, the unit reverts to the passive energy-harvesting sleep state for subsequent cycles.

I’m interested in your thoughts on the viability of such "sleeper" networks for passive border defense and asymmetric area denial.

Best regards,

u/geekdigi

How I'd like to connect with people in the future

Thumbnail

Based on what I'd like the future to be, I built an app to connect through curiosity.

It is called Pollen.

It doesn't include likes, upvotes or scrolling.

Every time you join a conversation, an AI Host crafts a question to play with based on what people at the table are interested in or curious about. (AI doesn't participate in conversations, it's an app for human connection)

Each question is unique.

Conversation tables are temporary, like real Pollen is, but you can befriend people at tables, or find them in the forest.

There is an endless forest, where you can drop your Pollen, and if other people find it, they can reach out. 🌲 👀

I really like Serendipity, I think this app facilitates it.

How do you Imagine the future of connection?

The Future, One Week Closer - July 17, 2026 | Everything That Matters In One Read

The early stages of recursive self-improvement have become visible. A model designed a chip for a model. An agent rewrote its own research harness and beat two years of expert engineering in eight days. A model post-trained another model from a simple prompt. More and more researchers inside the frontier AI labs are hinting at the early stages of recursive self-improvement. It couldn't be clearer where we're heading.

This is my weekly read that gathers everything that mattered in AI and tech into one place, covering more than 30 stories this week.

Some highlights:

  • OpenAI's model swept all five problems at the world's hardest programming contest in Tokyo, solving two that no human finalist could crack. The founder called it a "completely defeated" moment for humanity.
  • An OpenAI model post-trained another model on its own, and researchers say a real chunk of their work is now reliably delegated.
  • Moonshot released Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion parameter open-weights model out of China that beats Opus 4.8.
  • The first hard experimental evidence of recursive self-improvement, measured, published, and reproducible.
  • 1X unveiled robot hands with 25 force-controlled degrees of freedom that feel a glass beginning to slip and re-grip before it falls.
  • An enzyme reversed decades of molecular aging in human tissue, undoing damage the field had written off as permanent.
  • GPT-5.6 proved a 50-year-old math conjecture in under an hour using 64 parallel subagents, then closed a 30-year gap in convex optimization.
  • A bacterium from the gut of a Japanese tree frog wiped out colorectal tumors in mice with a single dose and a 100% response rate.

Everything in one place, clearly explained, with the context on what it means and where it leads. For people who want to genuinely understand this, not just follow along.

You come away with the complete picture: what actually happened, why it matters, and where it's heading.
