Just finished the series and I actually thought there was more and was waiting for the next episode to auto-play.

If you bet Jim and Tabitha a million dollars to stay with their kids for 24 hours, they would lose after 13 minutes when one or both of them wandered off.

He made Victor see all the bodies, had him collect something from every mutilated corpse, left him to grow up completely alone for 40 years, and let him become a totally dysfunctional adult…

The Boy in White is a total piece of shit. He could’ve let Victor leave, just like Tabitha, live with his father, and then bring them back when they were older…

About five weeks ago, someone commented, “I hope you get to return to From 🤞.”

Her reply was, “Thank you! Me too! I haven’t watched it yet.”

Then this week she posted her original Jasmine audition tape from almost five years ago. She thanked all the FROM fans who still message her about the show and said she has no insider information about the ending. I thought it was a cool throwback, so I went back a few hours later to read through the comments again, and the post was gone. Deleted? Archived? I have no idea. Maybe it’s nothing. I just thought it was interesting, especially considering what she said five weeks earlier.

None of that tells us why Jasmine hasn’t been back. But it also doesn’t make it seem like she stayed away because she didn’t want to return. If anything, the only public comment she’s made about returning was literally, “Thank you! Me too!”

That makes me wonder if Jasmine just… wasn’t written back into the story. If that’s the case, I honestly think that’s a huge missed opportunity.

For someone who was only in two episodes, Jasmine left a crazy impression on the fanbase. Smiley is obviously the face of the creatures, but Jasmine is one of the first monsters people bring up. There are still posts, theories, edits, and discussions about her years later.

Season 5 is the last season. If there was ever a time to bring her back, it’s now.

If the theory that Jasmine was once a human from a previous cycle ends up being true, then having her interact with Fatima feels like it writes itself. Fatima has experienced becoming one of the creatures.

Jasmine has been one for who knows how long. Even one scene between them could be really interesting.
And if anyone involved with the show somehow sees this…

John Griffin, Jeff Pinkner, and Jack Bender, please for the love of God make this happen.

If filming is still ongoing, there are still months of production left. Productions adjust scripts and bring actors in during filming all the time when it makes sense. If Molly is willing, and based on her own comment it certainly seems like she’d be open to it, I would strongly encourage you to find a way to bring Jasmine back before the series ends. It would be a shame for one of the show’s most memorable creatures to never appear again in the final season.

I don't think one child survives every cycle... and here's why.

If that were actually a rule, then when Victor arrived in Fromville as a child, there should have already been an adult survivor from the previous cycle—someone who survived as a child and grew up in the town.

But there wasn't.

That also explains something else: no one knew what the Man in Yellow really looked like. If a previous child survivor had existed, they would've recognized him and warned everyone long ago.

I think Victor was never supposed to survive. Just like Eloise, he was meant to die. His survival is what made this cycle different.

It could also explain why the Man in Yellow now disguises himself. Victor knows his true appearance, so revealing himself would expose him immediately. In previous cycles, there may have been no need for disguises because nobody had that knowledge.

So maybe Victor isn't proof that one child survives every cycle...

Maybe he's the exception that broke the cycle.

But a proper warning first. Knowledge comes with a cost.

I should know it, because my sanity took a dive trying to lift this behemoth of content. More frightening it is still not complete.

Okay let's cut to the chase and rip the bandage off.

From retells the story of the babylonian captivity depicted in the book of chronicles. (Flight of the Cromenockle)

The exile happened in waves like in the series.

Many events and the scale of the place are out of order, which was already told in the series through time jumps and the moving trees. I guess the writers wanted to make it fit.

The story takes place in the southern region of Shinar. Nippur is the village and Tel Abib, which is believed to be near Nippur, is the colony house. Nippur is a place of Jewish administration and Tel Abib is a mystical place led by the gods.

The Governor of the Yehud Province is Gedaliah, which made the region more secure and introduced order for his people. (Sheriff Boyd)

Tel Abib is nurtured by goddess Ninmah the great Queen, mistress of the gods. (Donna)

Each newcomer has to pick their faith. The stone for the Hebrew heritage or the flower for the dominant regional faith.

King Jeconiah (Viktor) was one of the first exiles at 8 years old. Prophet Jeremiah (the boy in white) cursed him and revoked his heritage so it makes sense, that he resides in the colony house...for now.

The 90 days without an accident, that sheriff Boyd showed, was the reign of Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim's (Viktors Father) younger brother or the reign of Viktor himself. (I leave the story of Jehoiakim out because of the massive spoiler for season 5)

The fallen tree. After the siege of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Solomon temple the people of Judah were uprooted, but not completely alone. The crows the 72 demons are still there watching. They are called demons, but there are good natured ones too. They give knowledge and good familiars.

Like in the tarot cards of Tilly.

Tilly had to die because of this, she was in the house with the wrong faith. Elgin, yeah you know Elgin and on the basis what I told you till now you can imagine. Couldn't pinpoint a character of importance yet for those two.

Nebuchadnezzar II was gruesome and wanted to break the people of Judah. He was manipulating and deceiving never laughing. They had to take their holy scriptures see them together and fill them with stones to carry around.

He trampled the young folk so the bones couldn't be retrieved.

One plotline I really hate that they dropped is the whole hinted divide between Colony house and Town.

In the first episodes, I thought they really presented it as two different factions, making a big deal of the "Choosing Ceremony" and Julie not picking Town, but eventually it was just forgotten, and now they just kinda mesh together. Imo, the divide could've been very interesting if explored further.

In the first episodes, I really felt that they were building up a big difference of leadership between Donna and Boyd. It kind of sucks that Donna has now been relegated to fully playing second fiddle, losing pretty much all of her authority.

I remember being really curious to what caused the divide, if there had been a big incident in the past or something, kind of a let-down for it just to be dropped.

Did you think they were building something up there too? Or do you think that was never the plan?

Edit: Just to be clear, I don't think it's crazy that the divide dropped after the invasion, I just wish they explored it more before the invasion, which would've made the Town jumping in to help more impactful.

Is it possible Fromville changes its building between cycles but couldn't between the last two bc Victor was still there?

Also I realized Jade and Victor were in the bar with the goats and sheep they saved that night and would have listened to and expected both Tien Chen and Boyd to be dead. Idk why I didnt connect that the first time I watched that episode but in my head they were defeated from losing a food source

Theory: The Man in Yellow Was Originally Tabitha's Lover, and She's Been Trying to Undo Her Mistake for Centuries

What if the Man in Yellow wasn't always an immortal entity? What if he was just an ordinary person in the original timeline?

My theory is that the original Tabitha and Jade were married, but unlike their current incarnations, they had a happy marriage at first. Then tragedy struck—they lost one of their children, and their remaining two children became severely ill (or perhaps all the children in the town were mysteriously dying or becoming sick).

At her lowest point, Tabitha meets the Man in Yellow. He isn't evil in the conventional sense—he's charismatic, manipulative, and offers her hope. He tells her that he can save the children through a ritual that requires sacrificing them. Eventually, he convinces Tabitha, and through her, the rest of the townspeople agree as well.

This would fit one of the biggest themes of FROM: people aren't usually forced to do evil things—they're manipulated into making impossible choices.

Sara was manipulated.

Elgin was manipulated.

Christopher was manipulated.

Fatima was manipulated.

So why couldn't the original Tabitha have been manipulated too?

I also think that during this time, Tabitha and the Man in Yellow fell in love. The reason I believe this is because of how differently he treats her. He kissed her hand, spoke to her nostalgically, and never treated her like he treats anyone else. It didn't feel like a villain talking to his enemy—it felt like someone talking to a person he has known and loved for a very long time.

Then comes the ritual.

At the last moment, Tabitha realizes what she's about to do and refuses to sacrifice the children. Jade stands with her and refuses as well. Because the ritual is interrupted, it doesn't work as intended.

Instead:

The children die, but their souls become trapped.

The monsters are created.

Fromville is born.

The cycle of reincarnation begins.

Tabitha and Jade are cursed to return over and over again to correct their mistake.

This would explain why the Anghkooey children don't simply ask Tabitha to save them—they want her to remember. They've been waiting for centuries for her to make a different choice.

It would also explain why only Tabitha and Jade seem so deeply connected to the town and its mysteries. They're not reincarnating because they're heroes. They're reincarnating because they were involved in the original tragedy.

And one final thought: what if the Man in Yellow isn't waiting for Tabitha to remember because he wants to destroy her?

What if he's waiting because, after centuries of watching her return again and again, he's wondering whether she'll finally choose differently this time?

I recently finished watching From Seasons 1–4, and I still have a lot of questions. I've already read tons of fan theories and explanations on Reddit and watched many YouTube videos, but these questions still remain unanswered.

Question 1: Extremely Fast Healing (External Wounds)

Why does everyone heal from serious external injuries so quickly?

For example, Ethan Matthews had a metal rod completely pierce his leg when the RV crashed. After returning to town, he was walking almost normally within just a few days. In reality, an injury like that would usually take months—sometimes even longer—to heal, even with proper medical treatment. Yet in the town, he recovered within days despite having very limited medical care.

Another example is Boyd Stevens, who was shot in the shoulder with a shotgun. His shoulder seemed to recover within only a few days.

Similarly, Ellis Stevens recovered surprisingly fast after being stabbed by Dale.

It happens to almost everyone:

• Jade quickly recovered from the injuries he suffered in the car crash when he first arrived.
• Kristi Miller was able to walk again only a few days after her leg was caught in a bear trap near the forest settlement.
• Many other characters also recover from serious cuts, wounds, and injuries much faster than should be possible.

However, internal conditions don't seem to heal the same way. For example:

• Boyd's Parkinson's disease (his hand tremors) doesn't disappear.
• Nicky dies almost immediately after being accidentally shot by Officer Dani Acosta.

So does this place somehow accelerate the healing of external injuries, but not internal diseases or fatal organ damage?

Question 2: Nobody Ever Seems Tired

Another thing I've noticed is that nobody seems to get physically exhausted. Everyone keeps working with unbelievable energy every single day.

For example, Tian-Chen Liu ran the diner. She cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day for around 10–20 people in the town, and sometimes even more when Colony House residents came over.

She was mostly doing everything herself (or occasionally with Sara Myers):

• Cooking
• Cutting vegetables
• Preparing ingredients
• Washing dishes
• Cleaning
• Storing food
• Managing supplies

Realistically, that amount of work would require several people. Yet she never appears exhausted.

After Tian-Chen died, Black Lady (travel bus driver) eventually took over many of the diner duties, and the same thing happened again. One person seemed capable of preparing meals for almost the entire town.

Kenny once mentioned that the total population was around 47 people, including both the town and Colony House.

The same applies to Kristi Miller. She is basically the town's only doctor. Occasionally she's helped by her fiancée Marielle ("Mari") Sinclair, and earlier by another medical assistant, but for most of the series she's responsible for treating around 40–50 people almost entirely by herself.

In reality, that workload would be nearly impossible without several doctors and nurses.

Is this another effect of the town? Do people have increased stamina or need less rest?

Question 3: Nobody Shares Important Information

One thing that frustrates me throughout the series is how little information the main characters share with each other.

Every major character learns important clues:

• Boyd
• Tabitha
• Jim
• Donna
• Jade
• Victor
• Sara
• Elgin
• Randall

Yet they rarely sit together and fully explain everything they know.

Instead, they keep secrets, share only half the information, or wait several episodes before telling anyone.

If everyone openly shared their experiences, visions, discoveries, and theories, wouldn't they solve the mystery much faster?

Is this simply poor writing, or is it intentional because the town somehow encourages isolation and distrust?

Question 4: Background Characters Behave Like NPCs

Another thing that feels strange is how the background characters behave.

Whenever something major happens, only the main characters seem to react while everyone else just stands there watching.

For example, when Sophia and the pastor arrived in town and crashed into the sheriff's station, almost every important action was performed by the main cast.

Most of the background residents simply stood around watching instead of helping, panicking, asking questions, or reacting realistically.

The same thing happens throughout the series.

Whenever new people arrive, only the main characters:

• Explain the town.
• Help at the crash scene.
• Ask questions.
• Organize everyone.

Meanwhile, the side characters often just stand silently in the background, almost like NPCs in a video game.

It doesn't feel like how real people would behave during emergencies.

Question 5: Development of the Town and Colony House

In one episode, Jade discovers visions of people from different time periods. During one of his visions, he appears to see several different versions of Christopher (or people from previous cycles), suggesting that the town may have existed for well over 100 years, possibly even centuries.

If that's true, then one thing doesn't make sense to me.

The town has many modern features, such as:

• Modern-style houses
• Colony House
• A diner
• Electricity
• Kitchen appliances like induction/electric stoves
• More recent furniture and building designs

If the story of the town originally began centuries ago, what did it look like in the early 1990s—or even the 2000s?

Did the town originally have older buildings that somehow changed over time?

Is the town reconstructed after every cycle or every certain number of years, updating itself with newer technology and architecture to match the era of the people it traps?

Or has the town always looked exactly the same?

Has the show ever explained this?

Question 6: Time, Dates, and the Overall Timeline

Another thing I've noticed is that the show rarely makes the passage of time clear.

We almost never see:

• The current date
• How many days have passed
• The gap between major events
• How long characters spend recovering from injuries
• How much time passes between seasons

Sometimes it feels like several days have passed, while other times it feels like only a single day.

For example, after major events or character deaths, it's often difficult to tell whether the next episode takes place the following morning, several days later, or even weeks later.

Has anyone created a reliable timeline of the series?

Or is the timeline intentionally left vague by the writers?

Are these simply examples of weak writing or budget limitations, or do you think the writers intentionally designed the town this way for a reason that hasn't been fully explained yet?

I started watching the series a couple of weeks ago and I am currently on season 4 episode 2. It feels like almost every character eventually gets a long emotional breakdown, sympathy arc, heart-to-heart conversation or the “talk”(especially from Boyd). After a while, those scenes start to feel repetitive and slow down the pacing for me.

I’m not saying character development is bad, but did anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

I've never seen a logical explanation for this, besides one of the memories/visions is false.

Jade sees his "Previous Versions" at Colony House during his drug trip, none are ripped apart by the Monsters and the conclusion is made that he is killed by the people in Town.

Tabitha has a vision as Miranda, where she goes with Victor and Eloise to the Root Cellar, to "Hide" them from Christopher. She then leaves, Eloise at some point chases after her, and Miranda is chased down by Smiley who runs at her.

So who kills Christopher then?

Miranda's actions and words, "Hiding" her Children from him, means Christopher is alive when she takes them to the Root Cellar.

With no Talismans and with them being hunted down by the Monsters, why would the people in Town be hunting down Christopher? It doesn't make sense. They would be hiding trying to survive.

Just finished season 4, and I'm confused by a lot of discourse about the show. I see a large volume of people expecting the show not to explain most of the mysteries or pay off on foreshadowing, but hasn't the show pretty much explained most of the important mysteries already?

I'm not sure what there really is left to explain, maybe a little extra lore about what the Man in Yellow is, but whether he is a demon the ancient townspeople summoned, the avatar of an outer god, or an immortal sorceror, it doesn't really have much consequence on the plot since next season is the finale. We've more or less seen the extent of his powers and influence so it seems our protagonists have a chance of beating him.

Last real question left is how exactly the town was created, and "what the god damn rules are" but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a result of the same ritual that turned the ancient people into the creatures. Unless im missing something, I feel like most of the major plotlines have been thoroughly explained and are ready to be wrapped up, am I wrong?

The theory is about the fate of Fatima and that she’s just a monster now and used the last bit of the humanity that she had control over to save Ellis and Boyd

The real question I have that goes along with this theory is Assuming I’m right (It’s okay if you don’t actually agree, this is just a hypothetical) do you think it would make sense for her to kill Ellis in season 5 or too obvious of a way to go? I think it could be some interesting symmetry to the Jasmine/Kevin event that led it the invasion at Colony House but wanted to see how other people would feel if it plays out that way

Again, if you want to tell me your theories about what you think will happen to this character, nothing is stopping you but I am curious what people think about the asked question. (Sorry to over explain that but the last time I asked this kind of hypothetical, all of the answers were just people telling me they think I’m wrong and then their own theory)

Hi, i finished S4 a week or so back and something has been rattling around my mind.

The way Fatima was tricked into becoming one of the monsters. Got me thinking, how many of the others were tricked. I suspect, in a way, all of them.

Now I'm thinking that Fatima may keep some of her humanity, and in some way pass this onto the others, or just the smiley guy. Meaning they have some self awareness about what they are, meaning they may 'work' with the humans against the MIY.

What do people think? Does it have legs?

I see a lot of theories here and big guesses about stuff in the show and some people trying to make connections and I think personally people are trying to make this show bigger and more complicated than it actually is, and with these crazy expectations you are just setting yourself up for disappointment, just my opinion
