TV Movie The Love Bug (1997)

When Disney bought ABC back in the late-1990s, one of their first orders of business was to bring back the Wonderful World of Disney in a big, beautiful way. And one of the ways they did that was with TV movie remakes of some of their beloved slapstick comedies from the 60s and 70s.

For the remake of the Love Bug, the legendary Bruce Campbell took on the role of the down-on-his-luck race car driver who gets his hands on Herbie, a seemingly-alive Volkswagen Beetle that propels him to racing success. This one is a bit of a legacy sequel to the 1968 original, as Herbie's owner from those films, Jim Douglas, as played by Dean Jones, shows up to help out Herbie in his time of need.

Notable in that we finally get Herbie's origin story as it's explained that he was created by Nazi scientists recruited by the USA after World War II to create a living car. The villains track down that scientist and create Herbie's evil counterpart, Horace the Hate Bug.

One of the earliest films from Peyton Reed, who went on to direct the Ant-Man films for Marvel.

Masked rider was Saban's attempt to recreate the success of Power Rangers my using footage from the Kamen Rider franchise. It was even more cheesy than power rangers and was cancelled after they ran outta stock footage.

Being Mary Jane (2013-2019)

Just finished this underrated gem for the second time. Gabrielle Union gives an absolutely incredible, Emmy-nomination-worthy performance as the titular character. Raven Goodwin and Richard Roundtree are also fantastic, not to mention Regina King’s direction is outstanding. I especially loved all the quotes at the start of each episode!

As an entertainment writer, I appreciated the show’s exploration of Mary Jane’s career, but I was equally impressed by the complexity of her professional and personal struggles. In many ways, she reminds me of Mad Men’s Don Draper: brilliant and charismatic, but deeply lonely, self-destructive, and often responsible for much of her own unhappiness.

My hat also goes off to Mara Brock Akil, who was a game-changer for Black television through Girlfriends, The Game, and later Being Mary Jane. There are several things I would have changed about the ending, particularly the made-for-TV finale, but overall, I give the series an 80% on the ElMar Meter!

Rotten Ralph (1998 - 2001)

Rotten Ralph was a British/Italian/Canadian stopmotion animated series based off of a series of books of the same name written by Jack Gantos and illustrated by Nicole Rubel, the series was produced by Steve Jones, Cosgrove Hall Films, Tooncan Productions and Italtoons Corporation.

It was written by Jill Golick, Briane Nasimok, James R. Backshall, Kenn Scott, Erika Strobel and Luisa Rivosecchi.

It was directed by Sue Pugh, Sue Peters, Bill Martin, Terrence Scammell, Richard Dumont, Tim Harper and Simon Cliche.

It aired on the CBBC and Nickelodeon in the UK.

A lot of people may be confused since the IMDB page says this series came out in 1999-2001, that's because it wasn't broadcast in the US till 1999 where it aired on the Fox Family Channel.

The series centers around a bright, red, housecat named Ralph who enjoys playing practical mean pranks on his owner Sarah and her parents.

Despite knowing Ralph's nasty behavior, Sarah loves Ralph all the same and the feeling is mutual.

The series had 1 season and 55 episodes.

This movie set during World War two Lt McHale is commodore of pretty incompetent crew , they only try to earn money and to avoid their military duties. Captain Bigmmanton hates McHale and his crew and he wants discharge them from military. This show is funny and Ernest Borgnine is one the rare actors who wanted to sitcom even though he is Oscar winner

No Tomorrow (2016 -2017)

I only watched the pilot, and from what I watched, the show was fun and had a good vibe to it. The two leads had good chemistry with each other; they are opposites, but somehow their relationship still works. Did you watch the show?

Used to be obsessed with this cartoon as a kid. Each episode was structured around a game of hide and seek. From the UK, not sure if it aired anywhere outside here.

From Wikipedia: "Brimstone is an American television series that aired only one partial season on Fox, during the 1998–99 American television season. It features a dead police detective whose mission, as assigned by the Devil, is to return to Hell 113 souls who have escaped to Earth."

Since someone mentioned this gem on another thread, I thought I'd add it as it's own post.

Kindred: The Embraced

This show only ran for 7 episodes and this was back before I got burned by so many cancellations that'd is start a show from episode 1 when it originally aired.

It was a vampire show done by Spelling TV and aired on fox. I was 16 when it was on, it predated Buffy and I thought it had so much potential.

It was about a San fransicso cop, who investigated crimes but it evolved that his focus was on a gangster Julian. But Julian was the head of the local vampire population. Both men had a relationship with the same woman who dies and the men form a weird bond where they help each other out. Honestly, I rememeber enjoying it so much but no one seems to rememeber it.
