With Lady Forlorn upon the ground rather than in hand, Aubrey would hand his blade to the guard.
“He needs a maester.”

Rymond in all likelihood would not pray, for the Seven never listened. He'd sooner sing a song about a sad girl who's heart was jilted when a kiss-turned-sour bearing fruits and not the sweetness she desired. Though her tears were his cause, he could not feel total and unyielding guilt in the face of it. He might have kissed her back and with rigor if he had even suspected any such affection. Though now seeing her completely without the veil gave him pause. It was harsh and it was unpleasant, the man vain in impulse. But she was still pretty, the mark on her now revealed visage hard to look away from at first but he forced himself to look Amarei in the eyes. If she had no blemish, she might have been one of the prettiest ladies he had laid his eyes upon.
"My lady..." he stood from his chair, sigh heavy and a hand going to his temple as he felt his head begin to throb. "It is wrong of me, my being here as I have offended you so grievously. It is improper for me to stay..." He merely wished to avoid further ire and attention. The eyes of more and more guests pressing to him as the girl wept and her veil torn free.
"I will retire to the inn my men and I have and will depart soon after. I merely only wish Lady Alicenet be spared of judgement. There is no way I can give you back when you have given me, or sought from me." Rymond's gaze was still fixed to Amarei's face, breaking briefly to look at Alice only when he mentioned her.
"I will pray to the Father for forgiveness and the Maid that she might send someone worth your affection. I... I clearly squandered it. You are a pretty girl Amarei, any knight would be lucky. I hope when he comes along, he will not be as much a sorry fool as I have made myself to be." He bowed his head and sank the last of his wine down his gullet.
Lady Alicent was his companion and guest, and queer it was to abandon her. He did not wish to do so either, but if the Ashmarks were to turn on Rymond he would rather be ready to depart and flee the place then suffer more judgement. The inn might be a reprieve if anything. He wanted this to be over and done so he might forget about it and only remember it and cringe later on when trying to drift off to sleep. "If I had known it would wound you, I would not have come" Rymond said defeated and near ashamed.
"Lady Alicent, I apologise that you have had to witness this at all."

Suddenly, Andar stumbled. With the fight done, the weight of his injuries dawned upon his body. Falling, his body hit the wall before he slumped, leaving a red trail on the stonework as he hit the ground, Lady Forlorn falling from his grasp. "Revenant." He managed. "Do not. Let it. Near Princess." And with that, he fell unconscious.

She unfolded the next paper, and winced. That could be messy.
“What is the most scandalous piece of gossip you know about someone else in this room?”

There was something about Lady Arianne’s tone that Mina disliked, but she could not place it well enough to reason exactly what it was. She looked at her skeptically for a moment, before her features shifted as she was clearly in thought.
There were many things Davos did that she found annoying, but many of them were also sweet in equal measure. The few things that truly irked her, he at least had the awareness to know he was being stubborn rather than suave, all except…
“He’s exactly two inches taller than I am and takes too great a pleasure in that fact. Between our first and second meetings, he grew quite a bit and now he refuses to let me forget my complaints at noticing it.”
“It’s small things, mostly done playfully, but he always has that stupid smirk on his face that he has when he thinks he’s being clever. Patting my head, standing as tall as he’s able in response to my insistence that I’m not short. He called me a ‘short shrub’ once before he was knighted.”
Mina figured that was a detailed enough answer, so she reached for the next question.

He stayed silent all the way back to Ashemark, shame as much as embarrassment in the silence. She wasn’t the first lady who had been injured whilst interacting with him. Alester couldn’t help but wonder if he had angered the gods in some way to have this curse put upon him.
When they returned to the courtyard, he dismounted first and offered a hand to Hel to help her down.
“You should go to the maester, M’lady,” he said quietly. “I hope you are not hurt too badly. I shall walk Windburn back to the stables. I am… very sorry for getting you hurt.”

Spring was in full bloom in the land of plenty. The countryside hardly seemed scarred by the long winter they had all recently 'suffered' under. The roads were packed with all sorts of traveling merchants, and buxom ladies bathed in the Mander. Nature was healing.
Highgarden's triple white walls greeted the visitors. The castle's gates remained closed as a series of heralds on each gatehouse called to the next. "The new Lord of Starpike had come to swear his fealty."
The second gatesman called to the third. "The new Lord of Starpike had come to swear his fealty."
The third gatesman called to the castle. "The new Lord of Starpike had come to swear his fealty."
After a few minutes, all three gates opened and the Peake entourage was ushered into the seat of the Reach. Awaiting them was an assortment of servants who saw to their luggage, their horses, and of course, the customary bread and salt. Here, the bread was freshly baked butterbread, served with seven cheeses and three preserved meats. The Tyrells made a habit of not serving their guests stale bread.
Caradoc was offered a bath or a wash if he wanted one before meeting with the Lord of Highgarden.
When Caradoc was good and ready, he was brought into the castle's main hall.
The large hall of the New Keep was built by King Gyles III to house every bannerman of the Reach back in his day. The Reach back then extended from the Gold Coast to Shipbreaker Bay. The rump state Lord Theo now ruled could more than fit his current pool of bannermen twice over. With no feast or festival planned for many months, the majority of the tables were gone, replaced with the finest finery that Reach tax money could buy. Lord Theo sat atop his lordly chair, smaller than the old Gardener throne the dragons burned some fifty years ago.
The Court of the Rose had a few dozen minor lords or knights in attendance, mingling about when the Peake arrived.
The Lord Paramount of the Mander said from atop his chair in a neutral greeting. "Welcome to my home."

Rhea Grafton (67) The head of House Grafton held herself high as she returned to Runestone. She no doubt arrived a bit early just for the chance to see her grandchildren; Allard, Robar, and Amanda. She had not been seen outside of Gulltown for quite some time and rumors swirled that her health was beginning to decline. Not that it looked like it from tonight.
Alyn Grafton (27) was sitting near his grandmother. Seated beside him would be his wife Selene Belmore. He was also with his 5 year old daughter Edyth and his 1 year old son Emery. They made for a beautiful family even if Alyn himself was not anything exciting to look at. But it was clear just how much the two of them loved one another.
Myranda Grafton (23) had gone in and out of a morose state these past few years. It was hard on her when her twin sister was all the way across the continent and she had no way of joining her. Especially not with whatever commotion had been going on lately with Lord Trant. So of course she was stress eating, nibbling on any piece of dessert that caught her eye.
Anya Grafton (12) was seated with the retinue of House Corbray and the Queen. At 12 years old she was still rather scrawny and hadn't hit the age of her maidenhood yet. She looked over at her Grafton family but she'd been with Lady Minisa for so long that the woman was practically a mother to her.

An almost wicked grin bloomed on Arianne's face as she pulled her questions from that basket, and looked over at Mina Norridge, "Mina I know you have been having a rather interesting experience with romance of late," she would flicked a quick glance between Mina and Kyra then, before reading out what was on the parchment.
"What is something your... Let's say 'admirer' does that he thinks is incredibly smooth or romantic, but actually makes you shrivel?"
r/FireAndBlood • u/heavyheartsz • 2h ago
A sigh left Kyra. "Very well. You are dismissed, then." She said with a wave of her hand, wishing to return to enjoying the feast than continue arguing with another cantankerous Willum.

Violet could not help the small laugh that escaped her. Never had she heard anything more absurd, after all, and she could not help being amused, especially with the way Isabel said it all as if it were indisputable fact. "Has your lady sister asked a First Man what they think of their own gods?" She pondered with a smile. "No, the old gods make no demands of us. One need not even pray, if they do not wish, and they certainly do not ask for our blood." How silly a thing to think.
"Our gods do not assume the same role that yours do. They do not interfere in the lives of men. They do not ordain or bless or condemn, not ordinarily. If one... disrupts the natural order of things, of course, they may feel the coldness of the gods, but," she inhaled, "those are for the gravest of crimes. Kinslaying, and such." As she spoke she thought of the Starks, how the gods likely folded their ears to their house now. She might have felt sad for it, but Freya Stark had long cast her out, and she pitied not her kinslaying cousin, sister to Lady Greyjoy at that.
"The old gods simply exist. They were here long before us, and they will be here long after us, I think. We are lucky to know them, in the small way we do, I think." She said softly.

Alyx was rather taken aback by such a response. He’d been braced for scorn, perhaps barefaced anger even. True love’s kiss had not been on the agenda. The gentle words of persuasion were thoroughly stabbed and died before they ever reached his lips, and he simply stuttered for a moment until he could finally compose himself.
“You flatter me,” he said awkwardly. “Would that I were so good at it, but I suppose it is good that I have not come for that purpose.” She was rather obviously drunk, which made his task harder than it already was. He pulled at the collar of his tunic before continuing.
“I think Lord Tyrell only seeks to keep the peace. Lord Josua would be a good match for your vassal. I would have thought you’d be relieved to be able to hand the matter off to our liege Lord. Is that not the case?”

This time, that title did not ring so hollow in her ears. Perhaps somewhere he did have a song just for her. She tensed as he leaned in, her eyes closing almost as if she were flinching. She was stiff and awkward as their lips met, and as he lingered there for a moment a shudder went down her spine. In that moment she could forget it all, the shouting, the worry, the humiliation. She could think again that she was in on of those old tales of love.
When he pulled away for a moment her lips followed his, as is she did not realize he was pulling away, but it only was a moment. When he moved back he'd find her seeming almost dazed, her face flushing all the way down to her neck. Her hearts hammering was the merry bear of a drum, the aching in it dispelled for the time being. And as he had hoped a smile would bloom on her lips. Her rare broad smile, a silly looking one that showed her teeth.
It only lasted a moment though. After all, she needed to close her lips so she could lean in to kiss him a second time.

The heir to Highgarden nodded along, agreeing to most of what was said. As she finished, he suggested. "And now there are no dragons to fear, how ought that change things?"
Martyn gave his ancestor a side-eye as he revealed. "The king has twice attempted to antagonize me. First, after a little dispute with his niece over a single lemon cake... he demanded I apologize to her, or he'd seek to disinherit me." Even thinking back to the moment made his blood begin to boil. "I accepted his demand, of course, but as soon as I did, he barred me from it. Sent me from his hall.
"I had thought the matter was resolved, but last month at the Highgarden feast, he sent one of his White Cloaked thugs after me. Demanding I fight a duel of honor. Mind you... again over a lemon cake... the great crime of not giving a princess a lemon cake after she demanded one."
The Tyrell pressed a finger up to his now crooked nose. "My latest gift from his goons."
"I won't pretend I was completely innocent in the matter of the lemon cake... a promise was a promise... but still. I am very unsure about this new king being different from the last." He turned to look over her reaction to this information and asked. "What was a young Maegor like?"

Lord Torren's brothers, Roderick and Royland, rose up a bit nervously when the ironborn reavers approached, sensing possible troubles, but their lordly brother gestured for them to fall back down and instead welcomed lord Goodbrother with a smile.
"Oh, lord Goren, what a pleasant surprise, I have met with your father in the past, a brave man, I am sure you will take after him."
The smile on his face looked a bit out of place thanks to his otherwise gaunt appearance, but he seemed genuinely happy to meet the young lord.
"Why don't you sit with us for a while, and tell me what brought you to our table?"
He nodded to the single free chair in front of his own seat, sadly he didn't have any more free seats but he gestured to the two of his brothers and they, with understand nods, got out of their seats and left to get more drinks or to mingle with other participants of the party.

Davos put his hand over his heart and smiled, a little too proudly.
"I shall not disappoint. The Knight of Dragon's Breath is above such dishonorable conduct."
He was certainly not above running off to do something alone. But Davos could not exactly decline Kyra's demands. The good part of this was that he felt Mina would tire of such restrictions too, given enough time. And then she'd be his.

Despite being fresh off a pyrrhic victory in Highgarden, it could not be said that the assembled Osgreys were in high spirits.
Elinor Osgrey (30), the Lady of Coldmoat, the Marshall of the Northmarch in all but practice, seemed subdued, defeated, as she had not in a great many years, at least until her children, Raymond (10) and Jeyne (4) were put to bed. Then, she drank more than she ate, and as she drank, her tongue loosened, striking out in cruel mockery at all those who offended her by her presence, her husband included. She glared at dashing knights and beautiful ladies, she snickered at the misfortunes of those she disdained, and for a few moments she would even smile.
Ysenda Osgrey (27), dressed once more in loose Qohorik trousers and a rich, black, Qohorik doublet, spent little time with her kin. Something about her sister had unnerved her, ever since her confrontation with Jos. For once, she had not even raised a token protest at her dressing in men's clothes. Instead, she flitted about the hall, drinking, and stalking Willums and Webbers.
Isabel Osgrey (16) quickly found herself overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the packed feast hall. As the evening progressed, her eyes searched frantically for friends, for succor. Not finding them, she fled the hall for the gardens, and her beautiful, perfect, flowers.

He should have spoken up more for Edmund, he knew that much. He should have done more. But the penalty for what Edmund did was steep and Patrek was not going to be the one to pay it. He should not have defied Alester. But he hated that family drama turned into a rebellion and he was made to take part. He sighed.
"You of course shall have free access to Edmund Sunderland. I shall not stand in the way of justice. I no longer have any need of him," he replied succinctly. He should have executed the man himself. Patrek feared whatever end Alester and Lord Manderly had in mind for him would be drawn out or unbecoming of a nobility's end.

Arianne certainly could not help noticing the similarities between them, she honestly found herself a tad annoyed by it. A Harlaw of all people was her doppelganger? But she gave a smile at the question nonetheless, "Well, that's certainly a tough choice with all the lovely candidates. I suppose you could say I'm bound to lady Kyra every week, but I don't believe that counts."
She tapped a finger against her chin before finally reaching her conclusion. "Tommen Lannister I think would make a fine choice. I'm sure I would have quite the exciting time with a man so... Adventurous."
