I'm looking to get into FFTCG and finally start playing, but where's the best place to buy cards?

I've noticed the same booster boxes can have pretty different prices depending on where you look. For example, Best Buy seems more expensive than a lot of online stores. Is buying online usually the better option?

With Pokémon and MTG, cards are everywhere, but FFTCG seems a lot harder to find. Where do you all usually buy your cards?

Hello! As the title says, I'm new to the game, but have experience from other tcgs.

I bought the 2024 world champion set that comes with the 2 Decks that were used to win the event.

I played them with a friend today for the first time and we had a couple of questions while playing, but the main one was, what is point of the card Princess Goblin? Her effect searches for a light card but there was none in the deck. Am I missing something?

I'm new to this sub. I haven't played the FFTCG, but I am a lifelong fan of Final Fantasy and other TCGs (Yugioh, MTG, L5R, Pokemon, etc.) I bought a Japanese PSP Final Fantasy Duodecim in Japan. After opening, I saw this card inside together with the inserts. I can't find any info about this card, it's history, it's rarity, it's actual market value.

Hey all, posted this project a while back (hosted multiplayer TCG sim named Aethergate), but recently pivoted hard onto building an fully automated client for fftcg. I've made some good progress recently, and its now 'fairly playable', so sharing here for people to start messing with it and helping direct the development if interested.

Some features worth highlighting:
- automated phases, priority, stack, combat, cp payments
- automation for supported card effects + keywords
- various mechanics supported (party attacks, priming, warp, back attack, freeze, etc)
- 1-4 player support
- manual mode toggle-able for unsupported cards or interactions
- ffdecks url + materia hunter deck imports
- deck builder + card browser
- 'crude' spectator implementation, chat and game logs
- upload custom playmats
- joinable rooms

Things I'd like to add down the line:
- server-owned account and player state (decklists currently cached in browser local storage)
- matchmaking
- desktop build
- P2P hosting (server current US)
- potentially deep future, pivot to a new frontend entirely

The main warning is card coverage. This is not a fully automated card pool yet. Current testing is focused on meta decks (incl WoL 7, Lightning Crashes, MBM, Gullwings, Mono Earth, wind/water monsters..). Some effects in the covered meta decks still need work, and decks outside that group will have automation gaps. I figured I'd advertise for playtesting as its in a fairly usable state, and would be good to get some feedback and feature requests in at this point to help me focus my dev.

The app originally started as a multiplayer MTG Commander table with no rules processing. Recently got into FFTCG and really enjoyed it, and had requests for Aethergate to build out a rules processing client, and so, here you go :-)

A friend and I are looking into trying Final fantasy trading card game and I was wondering where people play?

Hi all, looking to get into collecting FF TCG just for the love of the franchise, but im wondering where people tend to buy their packs/boxes from online in the UK? I dont see many options out there when wondering around shops thats all. I live in the North by the way.

I've tried making an anniversary deck like seven times. The banning of Tyro made it harder than I'd like to admit, but I still really like the deck. Even if it's trash!​

Just wanted to voice some concerns regarding the current state of support and distribution in our local community in SEA. Right now, it really feels like our region is being completely overlooked.

Our issues:
1. Product scarcity (Opus 28): There is massive local demand for Opus28, but stock is practically non-existent. Most of our official local stores are completely sold out. So many of us want to buy boxes and support the game, but we literally cannot find any stock to purchase.

1. Overly delayed promo support: Local prize and promo support has completely dried up. We haven't received any official promo cards since February of this year.

2. Lack of official tournaments and delayed events: We have almost no official tournaments here, despite the community actively wanting them. We are finally supposed to have an official cup soon, but it has been massively delayed, making it our very first one for the entire year (might also be the last lol). To make matters worse, the prize support looks incredibly disappointing, with signs that they’re just going to be provided at a later date and that they are old leftover promos.

We have tried to reach out to SE and to our official distributor (which is a terrible one), but to no avail.

We've already lost players because of all these issues, and it’s super discouraging to love a game and want to spend money on it, only for the people running things to be this terrible.

Is anyone else in a similar boat right now? What should we do?

I was browsing through cardmarket and i noticed that there are quite a few different portuguese users and i am wondering if you guys only collect or if you also play the game?

Would love to know if there are some more people interested in the game itself in Portugal. Im from lisbon and we do have a few people that play on Versus Gamecenter lgs so im curious to see who else is out there playing ;)

Hey guys so a quick update as promised, so i played in my first ever event with my Army of One, would have been thankful even with just one win and experience but during the Swiss round I did go 3/6 which honestly? Half the matches for my first time out? I think that's pretty good in my eyes, some games cards didn't fall quite how I wanted to, prioritized plaything things rather than set up my combos, but its a learning experience. Obviously dudbt make top 16, but I got close. Hopefully I can continue to grow and build some more nice decks and hopefully get a higher score next time!

Noticed the reprints from a starter set upgraded the card art, three questions.

1. does this happen often?

2. am I right in thinking it won't be possible to get a foil version of the reprint?

3. is there a definitive list I can refer to for reprint changes / card variants I can use for a true master set guide?

Hi, going back over opus 1 set I noticed a difference in the shape on the right side showing what game the character came from. I'm guessing it's just a reprint run, I know they aren't 1st wave as the : is centrally aligned.

I assumed it was a reprint from a starter set but I opened another starter set I had spare and they had the blue oval (which is what all but 4-5 cards in my collection had... So I'm unsure where the ones with the rectangle shape came from as if it was from the base booster sets then shouldn't most of the cards in the set have it? As most cards weren't reprinted for starter set?

So... Why the difference?

What are some easy (i.e. cheap) ways you are upgrading the recently released Zack and Cloud starter decks?

I like TCGs and in my current state in my life crises I wanted to explore FF TCG. But money is tight and I don't want to do the usual thing I used to do where I buy a few booster boxes and starter decks, open a lot, and then hide them all in my closet when I inevitably buy more than I should have. Money is also tighter than it used to be.

But am curious and I love learning new games so I asked AI to help me with balanced decklists so I could buy the singles. After some back and forth I settled on a wind/lightning sky pirates deck from ffxii, a fire/earth fvii deck, a mono water summoner deck, and a mono-ice villains deck. I also asked for a swappable A/B package. So like each deck has a core 35 and a swappable 15 package to give each deck some versatility.

But as soon as I asked for the deck list, the literal first card didn't exist. This threw into question the whole exercise.

I know that there are websites with decks out there, but my constraints are that I'm not looking to build a tier 1 competitive deck. I rather spend $15 each on 4 decks than $60 on one meta deck. There's also so much out there that it's hard to craft some decks on my own.

I settled for maybe just buying the latest starter decks and going from there.... but I'm asking this reddit if something like what I asked exists somewhere out there. Like I don't want to try to build a ffvii deck, see the dozens of various "clouds" that I need to read an understand and get lost on the literal first card myself. To confirm, TCG lists 69 clouds that exist in ff tcg.

Is there a more efficient path than just a starter box?
