There is an interesting divide between the family, specifically between Reed and the other 3, on how they view Doom vs how they view the Maker.

Now obviously I understand that it’s all up to the different writer’s interpretation, but let’s just say we go with it and think it’s all true at once.

Reed, as many of you know, is a very hopeful man. Not just to towards the future, but towards everyone being their best selves. Even a very evil person like Victor. Even after everything Victor has done, Reed still wants to help him. His wife, his best friend, and his little brother think he’s crazy, but he’ll never give up, nor should he. Reed fights for everyone.

So….. why not the Maker??? Why is it that when the Maker asked him if he’s erase him from existence, Reed said he would. It was a cold, merciless, and assured “Yes”.

Now on the flipside, the family hates Doom’s guts and wants him far away from them. They love Reed’s heart but they don’t quite match his sense of hope.

But….. they do for Maker?? Why is Susan saying that nobody is beyond redemption even though she hates Victor for hurting her loved ones so much. Seems like a bit of a contradiction for both sides of this divide.

It seems as though two different things are happening here.

Reed will exact compassion to anyone who needs it. Except for himself. He is so guilt ridden, so self critical, and so burdened by responsibility that he does not have a high opinion of himself. That’s probably why he’s so self-sacrificial to the point that it drives Susan crazy. He thinks he’s disposable and should only be producing value. So when he sees an evil version of himself he has zero compassion. Just contempt and a desire to erase him.

The family on the other hand…. They are just looking at another version of the man they deeply love. He’s a completely different person and almost nothing like their Reed, but it doesn’t matter because he COULD be like their Reed and so they don’t think he’s beyond redemption despite how nasty he is. And this love is special since they don’t exact it to a similarly evil person like Victor.

It kinda goes to show how Reed, no matter how good he is, does not actually think he’s worthy of love. But he truly has no idea how much his wife, his best friend, and his little brother, actually, boundlessly, love him.

Again though, this is all my headcanon. Maybe North’s version of Reed does want to save the Maker too but I’d find it interesting if Maker is the ONE person Reed has no mercy for.

If Victor ever does come back (and he always does), I hope this gets explored by the next writer. I do also hope the next writer is a good one who emphasizes the bond of the family.

I think in season one morph turned into Reed very briefly to hang onto something. I’m not gonna lie I can see Reed doing this for his kids. Goofy bendy dad. 👨🏻

People keep telling me that Dr. Doom is a better person than Reed, because he wants to save the world.

When Doom became God Emperor Doom he declared himself king and stole Reed's family making Franklin his son and Sue his wife. He let envy guide his actions.

When Reed defeated Doom and was granted those same "god" powers, guess what he did. He didn't seek revenge on Doom or punish him. He healed his face. He gave him a chance to start fresh. Reed has always believed in Doom, and that he could be more than he is. The fact Reed not only showed him mercy, but had belief in Doom is why I think he's a better person.

Hello! I've been getting into Marvel- MCU, Comics, Rivals- for around 8/9 months now. Sue Storm is my main in Marvel Rivals, and I want to learn more about her and the Fantastic 4 in general, but I've really been struggling to find comprehensive guides/character analysis of her online, and am still way too new to the comic hobby to know which comics to look up for her. What are the best comics to learn more about her character? Thank you in advance!

I am mainly comparing these two runs because both of them have second Omnibuses coming out (or have come out) recently.

Both runs are somewhat controversial among FF fans and have received a lot of criticisms. (Some fair, some less so). But I would be interested to know which run people liked (overall) more?

I also think it would be fun to compare these runs because, it seems to me, the runs are more or less opposite to each other.

Slott's is mainstream universe, lower stakes, and has been called 'boring' or 'dull'. His run is also more light and family focused.

Ultimate on the other hand is another universe, obviously. And the characters are different versions. But the stakes are higher and it is more action heavy. This series also takes away most of these family dynamics. The Ultimate FF run has also been called 'edgy', and much Darker than Slott's run.

I already have a bad feeling that the F4 are not going to be crucial in defeating doom on the MCU 🫩

If we look into the most comics, especially the latest ones, what we see is Sue sharing a better chemistry with her brother and Ben. While not inherently a terrible thing, I have rarely sen her being this jolly with Reed. Comics have often implied in many days Reed and Sue sleep separately. I have never seen Sue go out with Reed like she does with Ben (Ff 2022 #29- A day with Ben which looks awfully similar to a date- including that monologue- "No spouses, kids, Doom, just me and Ben...").

Is marvel preparing us for something? Some sort of revelation or maybe something else?

Everything suggests they are pulling Sue and Reed apart.

So I started watching the old Hannah Barbara cartoon recently and it's actually a ton of fun. Is it as good as the old Kirby comics? No, but the art in the show has it's charm and I genuinely think the voice acting is honestly really good and fitting. It's also cool how faithfully they adapted comic stories. Believe it or not, but the 60s cartoons are actually Marvel adaptations at their most faithful.

The show though, like a lot of old Hannah Barbara cartoons, has a lot of unintentional funny moments. I'm sure you've all seen the classic clip of Reed defeating Magneto with a wooden gun but there's many more.

Diablo is a great episode and the way Diablo runs in the episode genuinely slayed me, it's so funny.

I'm watching episode three, The Way We Began,

and there's two moments that are so good I had to make a post about them.

First there's a scene where Sue says "Doom's on the phone!" and then she just looks at the camera with a bewildering look, as if to say "you hear this shit?"

Then Johnny flames on for no reason and touches Reed's hand. Uh.. Did nobody catch that this isn't how the Human Torch's powers work? Maybe I misunderstood the lore, but doesn't Johnny always flame parts of his body off in the comics when touching someone he doesn't want to hurt?

I'm pretty sure he can't just make his flames not do anything to someone. I haven't read literally every single Fantastic Four comic, but at least in the 60s, that's how his powers worked.

So yeah, this error is really funny.

This episode is also honestly the second best adaptation of Doom's backstory in college in my opinion behind the 1994 movie.

Like, it's just all there. I'm not a fan of Doom having a more higher pitched voice, I prefer a more deep Victor Von Doom, but his backstory's just in the episode

It's certainly better than season 1 of the 1994 cartoon giving him a robot spider for no reason, what the hell was that about?

So yeah, if you grew up with this show or know some funny moments in it, then let me know.

I feel for 60s Marvel cartoons, Spider-Man gets all the love when it comes to unintentionally hillarious moments and as funny as that show is ("it's a flying iceberg!"), I think the other Marvel cartoons also have their moments. Like the audio mixing in Captain America is so bad that it's really funny. That show also adapts comics with Hitler but literally removes his mustache and all swastikas. You can still see the word "Nazi" on a newspaper, but it's really funny to think that 60s cartoons couldn't show things like that when the comics got away with a lot more, even if the Comics Code Authority still prevented a lot.

I'm going to keep watching through this show and honestly, I think I might end up seeing every Fantastic Four cartoon, maybe even that fucking show where this kid says "Thing Ring, do your thing!" and turns into The Thing lmao.

I'd love to make a full retrospective ranking on them all.

70s show not having Johnny would make me a little sad, but Ben bickering with Herbie is funny. I saw some clips of that and it's great!

So yeah, I've seen that my posts about Fantastic Four get a decent amount of attention and I'm hoping I get at least a few people to talk about these cartoons with me.

Fantastic Four cartoons are honestly pretty underrated, World's Greatest Heroes is the only one I see talked about that much online and it's pretty much just for She-Hulk. I don't know how Johnny yelling "my car!" isn't shared on social media all the time, it's amazing!

Idk if this was a dumb ramble but I just love the Fantastic Four and talking about them!
