how to go from faded teal to jinx

hello! I have a faded teal light blue to yellowish hair with around 5 cm of chestnut roots (pics 2 and 3). I wanna dye it somth like jinx color (pic 1). Will that be possible without bleaching? And how will my roots look if I dye them with jinx? Google ai said that it would be possible though not easy, but I'm not sure.

Also looking for hair style advice, this is my first time having it that long. I guess some layering would be great but idk.

Thank you for all replies!!

Cherry red to copper??

Upvotes

So there was an oops with my hair and now it's a cherry copper instead of straight copper. It's not a bad color per say, but it's not my vibe and I don't like it on me. I've washed it with a clarifying shampoo a couple of times and used a color depositing conditioner (copper from KeraColor) but it hasn't changed that much. My stylist told me that it would fade to copper, but I want that to happen sooner than later. I don't want to bleach my hair and I'm not educated to know what else to do. Should I just keep washing it over and over? Please help. 😭

Please note: I love my hair stylist and have been seeing her for YEARS. This is the first time she's messed up my hair. I think she's having a family emergency or something because she's not getting back to me and I don't think she would try to do me dirty or anything like that.

hair wrap

Hi!

As long as I can remember, I‘m obsessed with hair wraps (as I recently learned you call them). Every summer I remember them and wish I could have one. Over the years I watched a good deal of videos and also tried to make one myself several times. Although I‘m usually good at such things, it‘s difficult for me to be confident about running around with it, when I did it myself.

Neverthless I would love to finally have one. I talked about it with friends and they said, you could let it do in barbershops in some vacation resorts or at the beach. I never saw a shop for it, exept once when I was in Sicily nearly ten years ago.

So, I wondered if you have any experience with it and know where I could get one?

If this is helping we‘re spending our summer vacation in the north of France this year.

Already thanks for all answers!!😊

Maintenance for this colour?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, long time sub lurker here.

I've been wanting to get my hair dyed this super dark blue, but when I showed the picture to my hair stylist, he said that I would have to bleach my hair to level 9 or so, if not the blue colour would not come through. He also said it would be really damaging and recommended another colour (which I did not do).

I really like the colour but I'm worried about the maintenance of the colour more than the damage from the bleach. I'm wondering if this would fade to a greenish colour? Or would it fade to a lighter blue.

I did have a full head of electric blue hair about 4 years ago, but I'm not sure if the fading process is the same. Thank you everyone in advance!

To semi-permanent or to permanent dye, that is the question?

Heya I’m wondering if I could get some advice as I’m painfully indecisive lol.

I’ve been cutting and dying my own hair for about 6+ years; but it’s only recently I’ve started to actually try and understand what exactly I’m doing.

I’ve had almost every colour imaginable and my hair has remained relatively healthy.
Until last year that is…. When I may or may not have over bleached my hair from box-dye black, to a pearly blonde after a bad breakup.

Obviously this left my hair INCREDIBLY damaged, which I was in massive denial about for ages, but around 3 months ago I decided to grow a pair and go get a good chunk of the length cut.
I originally planned to get it cut professionally, then dye it red myself.

However, in my continuing bad luck with hair, the stylist cut it wayyyy shorter than we’d discussed. Leaving me with a pixie cut, as opposed to the bob I wanted. My overall hair health is much better for it, but it really wasn’t what I wanted but it’s ok hair grows back!

Although the really unfortunate thing is that: if i dyed this new haircut red, I’d end up looking like a certain conservative, Australian, politician…. Iykyk…

At the time my hair was cut; I had very grown out and very faded pink hair, which was bleached to around a level 8-10.
After the cut I then dyed it using a not very good brown, semi-permanent dye, that had a neutral base which quickly faded to green.

Overall I currently have: semi-compromised bleached ends, which were previously dyed pink. Partially bleached mids, that had also been dyed pink (mostly old and non-bleached, regrowth from when I had pink. Giving a shadow-root kind of look at the time).
And over all of that a layer of brown which has now turned green, ESPECIALLY on the areas that had been bleached.

I’ve left it alone now for about a month, and have now got approximately .5/1 inch of virgin regrowth.

The current dilemma I have is the green I’ve been left with, is really starting to annoy me.
I intend on using the colour-wheel method from here on out for the sake of my hair health; but I’m a little unsure of what kind of dye to start with.

I know I need to use a red tone to cancel out the green (the intended colour pictured above).
So my dilemma is whether to use a semi permanent colour all over, WITHOUT bleaching, and wait till my hair grows longer to do any lightening of my roots/ evening out.
OR should I go over with a permanent colour (which I have less experience in, but would like to transition into using as I have less time for constant maintenance than I used to).
And if I were to go with this option; should I bleach my hair now, or again wait until my hair is longer?

I’ve been doing lots of research, but have had little success in finding answers to sway me in one direction or another.

If you have any questions or need any clarification feel free to ask!!

Thanks in advance!!

What level is this? Is it worth bleaching?

I had a skunk stripe(?) both in 2024 and 2025. After a few months in 2024, I just dyed over it with black. Ended up missing it and bleached it in 2025 but went over again with black. Every time I’ve done the black over the stripe, it fades out. Now its been about 10 months since Ive dyed my hair at all (Im 9 months pp) and it has *significantly* faded out to this orange color. I never used a filler color which I knew I was supposed to do but didnt and the black does not stick to this after about a month or two. I was using permanent black dye as well.

Now at this point, I wouldnt mind having the stripe back but I would want it to be some level of blonde at least. I did experiment with vivids the first (and second lol) time I had it. Im not against doing a fun color again but the end result I would like to be blonde at some point. I do want to go over the rest of my hair with black since it doesnt fade out as bad and have a genuine skunk stripe hair.

This is obviously untoned and hasnt been touched in nearly a year but what level would this be considered? Would it be okay to put bleach over? My husband and best friend like it but I hate how orange and brassy it is plus it stands out a lot and just doesnt look good to me.

Manic Panic to L'oreal Hicolor experience

When I did my research I found absolutely nothing telling me this would turn out okay (especially in such a short time), so I wanted to share my experience from semi perm to permanent red dye!

For context; I've used red box dye for around 5 years—then switched to Manic Panic in Vampire Red around 5 months ago because all the good vibrant box dyes have been unavailable for a while now.

Manic Panic worked great for me but it stains everything so much more than permanent (yes I know red stains like hell either way)

I did a full Manic Panic Vampire Red dye exactly 2 weeks ago, and then decided I wanted to switch back to permanent. For the first week I washed my hair only once or twice in cold water like usual. Week 2 I washed my hair every 2 days with hot water to fade the color. The water from rinsing was still pink but I got a decent amount out. After hours of research saying it would come out muddy, uneven, and wouldn't stick–my stubborn ass went for it anyways. It came out stunning and super vibrant with zero scalp/skin stains!!

I used a mix of Red and Magenta L'oreal Hicolor with 20 volume. I have extremely fine, thin hair down to my waist. My natural hair color is a light neutral brown. My roots were slightly grown out and I didn't get hot roots. I used the entire tubes and around 150 ml of developer. My hair was washed 24 hours prior and I skipped hair oils etc. Dyed my lengths first and my roots immediately after. I shampooed twice with my usual color safe shampoo and then conditioner. Lukewarm water to rinse out, then cold to lock it in.

Of course, everyone has different hair and this doesn't guarantee the same outcome for everybody. I did this yesterday so I can't say anything about future washing and fading but I hope this helps someone who wants to risk it!

Brazilian Blowout or Keratin treatment?

Post image
5 Upvotes

So my hair is similar to the hair in this photo and I'm trying to decide on getting a blowout again or trying the keratin treatment. Last time I got the blowout I LOVED the results (she asked if I wanted straight or curly and I wasn't sure so went with straight that time) and could literally just wake up and run my fingers through my hair and be able to walk out the door. Something that I have never been able to do before. But the process was pure torture! The chemicals from it really burned my eyes, throat, and nose and she was a perfectionist so spent HOURS afterwards running the straightener through my hair and would literally just do the same strand over and over, even the baby hairs. I am very tender headed so my scalp was on fire. It also was hundreds of dollars. It looks like the keratin treatment is a little bit more affordable, but are the results just as good? Are the chemicals a little more tolerable? I may just choose curly instead of straight so I can skip that process. I don't mind keeping my curly hair at all, but my curls are all kinky and not defined so would just hope that would help with that. I don't really know the major differences between the two and wondering which one would be best.

Looking for advice on how to style it based on my face shape (I think its oval?). I use leave in conditioner and curl cream every morning. I know people don’t usually like the brocolli cut so im wondering if people think I should keep it or do something else with it. Thanks!

Honest opinion

Ok so I need honest opinions about this hair cut. I currently have an angled bob that I am just so tired to styling constantly. If I don’t it looks like 80s mom-ish. Not super offended, but more low maintenance is what I’m looking for. Cute, tousled little number let’s say. The first pic is me with an AI generated cut (not exact but close), second is the style I’m debating. I have thick wavy hair for reference. Feedback is very much appreciated! I am not opposed to short hair at all, I’ve had pixies at my shortest, and most recently waist length at my longest. Help me, you lovely folks!! ❤️

Brown to Blue

Showing the process of how I went from non virgin brown to dark blue! Prior to the final blue haired photos, I had already dyed my hair blue and refreshed it up today, so those are the photos I attached. For 60 dollars compared to the 250 I would’ve been charged at the salon, I think I did a fairly good job!

Black hair dye help

Color removed (instead of bleaching) previously bleached and dyed hair (last pic) after using punky colors color remover and using overtone black velvet and arctic fox wraith, this is what i have. It is cute but i wanted black. Is this because I didn’t block my hair with a warm tone for the black? I had just put it over the very light blond. The last pic is what my hair was before

Is this a case of user error?

Should I commit to orange or try again to get pink?

Post image

Impulsively picked up some Manic Panic Cotton Candy Pink last night (I know, DO YOUR RESEARCH YALL!), obviously turned out not great!

I’m going to buy some Arctic Fox or Iroiro next time I get paid, I’m thinking just committing to the orange will be easiest but has anyone successfully gotten to pink from this fluorescent peach situation? Not really wanting magenta or hot pink and I’m wanting to keep it a lighter shade than my natural colour. Any colour or dye recommendations are appreciated!

Are hair appointments too expensive?

Post image
351 Upvotes

I hear "hair is too expensive" all the time and I get it.

I think the frustration comes when you pay $200+ and walk out with:
1. Hair you don’t love
2. Feeling uncomfortable/ignored
3. Awkward small talk you didn’t want
4. Zero experience to show for it

But flip it. What if you paid that same amount and got:
1. Hair you’re obsessed with for 3 months
2. Felt heard and welcomed
3. No pressure to talk - snacks, drink, chill vibes
4. Walked out feeling genuinely better about yourself

Would it still feel "too expensive"? Or would it feel worth it?

I’m a stylist and I’m trying to figure out what people actually value. Is it just the lower price tag, or is it the whole experience + result?

Would love honest answers.

How hard is it to get rid of blue hair dye?

So 3-4 weeks back I got blue highlights on my black hair. and so far I hate it. I have been wanting to change back to purple highlights, where I felt good and really confident. So I have been thinking of going to a salon and changing back to purple, I have shoulder length hair, but i am guessing to do everything it will be $500+. Thats a lot for me. So I was thinking to either get blue black or jet back, looking online I can't really see the difference. Which would you all think would be best for me. or if you guys have any ideas to get rid of the blue, or make the cost lower please let me know... Thank you

Did I ruin my hair with a digital perm?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I impulsively got a digital perm in Chinatown in Chicago. I don’t live in Chicago so I can’t go back to ask them to fix it. I spent $270 and asked for something very full and curly. they had been bickering before my appointment about my highlights because I have a balayage on my hair. They said they could still do it though, and I hadn’t known anything about highlights and perms. My hair wasn’t dry when I left. It was very damp and had waved to it and I thought it would dry curly, but it dried in this uneven half straight half wavy pattern.

I really wanna trust the process, but this is it the morning after. Should I wash it out? Is it worth the hour and a half drive to ask for my money back?
