Announcement A Reminder and a Request Regarding AI-Generated Images

Hi r/fakemon - we hope you’re having a good 2026 so far! We have a couple of reminders as well as a few requests regarding AI-generated images and, most importantly, how they are reported.

First, to reiterate our policy:

AI-generated images of any kind are not allowed.

This includes, obviously, any image created entirely by typing a prompt into a large-language model, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and so on. It also includes any images created by asking any of these LLMs to redraw something that you drew or upscale something hand-drawn. If the final image output that is posted was created or modified by an LLM, then it is not allowed. You can read more about the policy in this post.

Second, regarding reporting any suspected AI-generated images, we ask the following:

If you think it's AI, report for Rule 3 and move on. Do not comment on the post or engage with the user. If you feel more detail is needed, [message the mods.](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Ffakemon)

There are several reasons that we are asking for this to be the norm for reporting any post going forward, but especially so for suspected AI-generated image posts, which we will go over below.

1. Sometimes, you are wrong.

On several occasions, the mod team has been able to determine with as much certainty as we can that a user who was accused of posting AI-generated Fakemon was not in fact using AI at all. We're talking speedpaints, pictures of layers, extensive posting history with consistent art, and so forth. Not every Fakemon drawn with flat color and a black outline is AI-generated! LLMs probably just copied that style from their training data.

2. Engagement leads to deletion.

When 10 people spam an AI-image poster that their post is against the rules, it is often deleted before we can action it. This often means we don't get a chance to see which user posted the image to begin with and, therefore, cannot effectively add mod notes for future reference (we give one permaban warning the first time a user posts AI-generated images).

This is why we ask that you just report and move on, and message us if you want to give more detail. If reported enough, a post will be removed automatically for review by the team later.

3. Toxicity.

The tendency to barrage suspected AI-users with comments has impacted our community and given it a reputation among some that the user base is toxic and prone to unwarranted witch hunts. Some users who were accused of AI have received threatening DMs and spammy comments on unrelated posts. This behavior is unacceptable and we will ban users for this kind of harassment (we've already banned a few for this kind of behavior).

Even if the poster is posting AI images, harassment isn't warranted - our goal should always be to encourage traditional art creation and bring people in, not push them out. It is especialy egregious if a user who isn't using generative AI is accused and then harassed for it, as this pushes out potential contributors.

We dislike the influx of AI-generated "art" populating the internet as much as you all do. However, we ask that the users leave the "Is it AI?" game to the moderators.

~ ~ ~

Now, to get ahead of a few questions that we expect:

What if you're wrong and a user is posting AI-generated images, and it gets proven later?

If we receive sufficient evidence that we were wrong, we will correct our mistake and ban the user. Same goes the other way around - if a user is banned for AI when they shouldn't have been and we are shown that we made the wrong call, we will reverse the ban.

What if I think you're wrong and believe someone's work *is* AI, even though it's been approved by the moderators?

Message the mods with your case. We make no promises that it will overturn any decision unless you provide substantial evidence. "It looks like AI" is not all it takes to determine if something is AI.

Why this long post?

We felt there was a lot to address!

Thanks for reading and for understanding this request. We'll be keeping an eye on this post and are happy to answer any further questions to the best of our ability.

TL;DR: AI-generated images are still not allowed, please just report them and move on when you see them, Engaging with suspected AI images only makes it worse. Don't harass anyone over it please and thank you!

edit: reddit boomed all of my markdown ugh I fixed it

Fakemon Pika-Clone Line Based on Jackalopes, Fearsome Critter Folklore, and Trail Camera Imagery for My Western Fakemon Region!

The Instagram artist that I commissioned is @pokedan_art.

Here is the Pika Clone (aka, Electric Rodent) for my Western Fakemon Region!

This fakemon line is inspired by rabbits, jackalope folklore, fearsome critter legends & tall tales, and the eerie look of trail camera photography.

Although Pika Clones are traditionally based on rodents, I already have an early-route rodent based on Pack Rats and am considering a regional variant of the Rattata line. Because of that, I wanted my region's electric type mascot to stand apart while still capturing that familiar "electric critter" feel. I felt that Jackalopes ended up being a perfect fit.

Please let me know what you guys think of this evolution line! I would love to hear what you guys think, and I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do! ^^

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Biribi - The Rabbit Pokémon: (Electric / Fairy Type)

Etymology: (Biri-Biri [Japanese onomatopoeia for electric shock] + Chibi [Japanese word for ‘small’, ‘tiny’, ‘short’])

Biribi had only recently been discovered; its existence had been widely debated for generations, with most sightings dismissed as nothing more than local legends. It stores static electricity within its cheek pouches before channeling it through its tiny horn buds, though the shocks it produces are still relatively weak. When discovered, it remains perfectly motionless, staring back with an eerie, blank expression. If its observer makes even the slightest sudden movement, it releases a burst of electricity before zigzagging through the forest at incredible speeds, leaving behind scorched leaves and bark as the only proof it was ever there.

Abilities:

  1. Static
  2. Lightning Rod

Hidden Ability:

  1. Run Away

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Birisagi - The Jackalope Pokémon: (Electric / Fairy Type)

Etymology: (Biri-Biri [Japanese onomatopoeia for electric shock] + Usagi [Japanese word for 'rabbit'] OR Nousagi [Japanese word for 'hare' or 'wild rabbit'])

Birisagi are very rarely seen in the wild, making their homes deep within the region's forests. Their fully developed antlers channel the electricity stored in their cheek pouches, allowing them to deliver devastating electric blows by ramming into their opponents. Their existence had been widely debated for generations until a trainer's trail camera captured the silhouette of one silently watching from atop a tree, prompting an expedition that finally confirmed the species. Much faster than Biribi, they vanish in blinding flashes and race through the forest in erratic bursts of speed, gathering static electricity within their bushy tails as they run.

Abilities:

  1. Static
  2. Lightning Rod

Hidden Ability:

  1. Speed Boost

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Move for my Region:

Bolt Dash

[Electric | Physical | 40 power | 100% Accuracy | 30 pp]

The user cloaks itself in electricity and charges at the target with incredible speed. This move always goes first.

New Move for my Region (Maybe the Signature Move for Biribi & Birisagi?):

Antler Charge

[Electric | Physical | 80 power | 100% Accuracy | 15 pp]

The user channels electricity through its forked antlers and rams the target. This move deals 1.5× more damage to a paralyzed target.

Fakemon Desquilex- sucker of happiness

Post image

Desquilex (Dementor + mosquito + Culex pipiens)

I've always wanted to created a pokémon based on the London underground mosquito. For context, there was a myth that it evolved in the tunnels of London's underground railway system. The myth that it evolved there has been debunked, but it's still cool to think about it.

I wanted it to be a cave-dwelling pokémon, looking mysterious and wispy, and it has this glowing eyes. Then my sketch reminded me of a Dementor. So I removed the eyes and gave it this whole Dementor vibe, which make sense coz Dementors also suck the happiness out of people.

A group of them would be haunting tunnels, waiting for trains filled with people and pokemon to feed upon. I'm thinking of giving it an ability or a signature move that drops a pokemon's happiness to zero.

Discreetle and Blendinsect are my idea for an early game Normal/Bug type line set in a big city region. Descriptions below:

Discreetle

It has adapted to camouflaging itself in an urban environment. It tries its best to hide from predators like Gumshoos, but hiding only makes it more enticing to chase.

Blendinsect

It has perfected its disguise and now it can walk through a crowded street with ease, though it still prefers to lurk in back alleys. If a human confronts it it becomes very flustered and scatters.

Fakemon Mewblade (a Fakemon Mewthree) bronze statue

Mewblade - Letum Falcifer "Death Carrying A Scythe." Decider of Fate, goddess of entropy.

Mewblade is a Genetic Reaper Legendary Fakemon, a Mewthree. She is based after the Pokémon, Mewtwo, the Genetic Pokémon. She was created in the year 2000, one of six in a set. The statue was designed in tribute to a character that I not only cherish but who continues to inspire my pursuit to understand an entropic universe.

The statue is a 9' tall 525 lbs bronze statue, 3D print, cast, and patina by the Firebird Bronze foundry located in Troutdale, OR. Art and design is (C) to Vanessa L Krauss. It took roughly 18 months to make this one-of-a-kind creation.

___________

As an aside, I did eventually over-complicate the Mewtwo design over the course of decades by going hard on anatomy, hence the muscles, which doesn't make her look very Mewtwo-ish in the long run. But, it makes me happy, and I am glad I could make the ultimate tribute to her by casting her in bronze.

Fakemon New extinct Pokémon based on Yanjiahella (I know he looks like Shuckle, they're related)

Thumbnail

Deuterostome Pokémon is the largest group of Pokémon currently known, comprising all Vertebrate Pokémon and more. The evolution of this group is still a point of contention for researchers, the most recent hypothesis sees the particularly enigmatic Shuckle (Shucklae moldium) as not only part of this group but the least derived member. This suggests that a possible common ancestor to the entire group might have looked similar to Shuckle.

This hypothesis seems to find some value after the recent discovery of a new species of extinct Pokémon morphologically very similar to Shuckle: Yanshell (Yanjinium shukii). This Pokémon’s body was surrounded by a rocky shell used as protection from predators. Researchers describe the first evolution stage Yanjini as an ambush predator using their tail to dig inside rocks and hide waiting for any prey to wander nearby. It is possible that the final evolution stage had a similar hunting strategy, but its more developed forelimbs seem to indicate a more mobile creature.

For now I just have the side profile that I was using to design but I may make key art for them in the future

I’m not quite set on some of these designs, especially the Shamelops line, but I wanted to get the starters out of the way so I can design some other pokemon. Feel free to give suggestions for their designs or ask about their inspirations

Fakemon Glaciost & Saberrime - The Egregore Pokemon!

Glaciost & Saberrime

When enough kids wish something existed bad enough, and that thing wishes it existed too, you get the egregore called Glaciost. It's the manifestation of the will to survive. Originally descended from the same line of large felinid-like pokemon that eventually branched into the species that became Raikou, this pokemon went extinct long before any substantial changes were made to it's fellow members of it's lineage. When kids read about prehistoric pokemon, such as Shieldon, Arhceops, or Aerodactyl, they often find themselves fond of Glaciost and Saberrime. Glaciost is not one to be left out. It manifested itself back into existence and now occupies the snowy mountains and icy caves of the world.

- Intended to be a ghostly wall that can chip away at the enemy while the user figures out what to do. Though by the time Saberrime is fully grown, it could definitely find it's way into an E4 lineup if paired with the right mons.

If you happen to be a fangame dev and wanna use it, the link for the sprites, pbs file, and design doc is on this page

Fakemon My take on Mega Empoleon (OC)

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Mega Empoleon makes it debut as part of my Mega Evolution fanart project which is Mega Evolutions for Pokemon that don't have one at the moment, so Mega Empoleon is the 39th entry of the project. Empoleon was introduced in Generation 4 who's Water/Steel which makes it the only starter with a unique type combination.

I thought about making Mega Empoleon more regal as it based on an emperor penguin and design taking inspiration of Poseidon due to trident shaped aesthetics as shown on the crown-like beak. I've had to add a cape based on the patterns from the underbelly and added shoulder pads to make it feel like an emperor.

Empoleon's type combo will be carried over in its Mega Evolution still being Water/Steel however I'll make it an special attacking tank with stats being focused on mixed defenses and Special firepower at the cost of low speed unless it's need for Trick Room builds. Next Mega Empoleon gets access to Lighting Rod which turns one of its weaknesses into an immunity leaving it only two weaknesses Fighting and Ground. As Ferrothorn and Toxapex, defensive Pokemon work best if they have a type with as much resistances, access to Defensive abilities like with Regenerator or Iron Barbs or Intimidate and access to recovery moves. Empoleon sadly lacks recovery moves so giving it Life Dew is better than nothing because it least it's helpful more in doubles.

Mega Empoleon Stats:

HP: 84

Attack: 86

Defense: 148 (Goes nicely with Steel)

Special Attack: 146 (Gives Lighting Rod a purpose)

Special Defense: 136

Speed: 30 (Worth it if you're defensive)

Pokedex Entry:

"Mega Empoleon have wings that become shields that not only conduct electricity to protecting its allies as it takes the role of the Emperor not also guides its allies in victory, though time-pacing and concentrated calculations.

Pokemon is owned by Nintendo and Game Freak, fanart is owned by me.
