I just had to post. Last nights episode, regarding the Zoque, was just flat out amazing. I was awe struck by what was found. The three of them laying eyes on objects that hadn’t been seen in over 1000 years, and the in such incredible condition.

These last few seasons have been some of the absolute best the show has had. And now we have the Pan Am episodes coming later this year.

Hi folks. I've literally just discovered that Series (Season) 17 has been out for a few weeks in the US. I've just checked Discovery+ hoping to catch up but it's still only showing up to Series (Season) 16. I don't suppose anyone knows when us UK viewers can expect to see it? I've tried searching (Google) for the answer but with no luck. Thanks in advance.

Love the show watch whenever it’s on. But this show is scripted? I find it funny that Josh finds an old coin after centuries being on the ground. So you’re telling me no one saw that coin? I also find it funny that people have been looking for centuries for an item then Josh comes and finds that same item before the episode ends.

The one episode that got me thinking that it’s scripted was the wizard of oz episode. It looked like all the people Josh was interviewing knew or already found the missing shoes. That they were waiting till the end of the episode to announce they found the missing shoes.

Does anyone else find the subtitles they do for people that have accents ugly? They are in an artistic font and each word is a different size and they are all bunched in the bottom left corner???

I’m loving this season of Expedition Unknown. The two episodes on the death ships were interesting, but tonight’s episode was outstanding. I learned enough to make me not only want to take a deep dive into this topic, but to actually visit Laos. What a cool, laidback country! Josh really isn’t disappointing this season.

Just watched the Egypt pyramid episode and am thoroughly convinced the Egyptians made them. Is this still an alien conspiracy? Seems like it’s been settled. Or is that just what they want us to think??!!🤔 lol

Was watching the episode about Columbus and Josh is holding an artifact and rubbing dirt off of it, instead of washing it off. Now I'm not an Archeologist, but am an amature metal detectorist. One of the first things you learn is to never rub dirt off of a find because it scratches and gouges the material. He also didn't know who Snorri Sturluson was in one of the Viking episodes.

I had a question come to mind the other night. Has anyone been in the same city or location for the filming of Expedition Unknown? And if so are you in the background of any episodes or did you get to interact with josh and crew in between shots?

What it says. The war stuff is my least favorite and if he keeps doing more and more of it I'm out. That's not the archaeology I'm interested in at all. Since it's at least real it's better than bigfoot or his other foibles but there better be some real digs or something this season. Starting with two in a row of war wreck dives is not looking good.

....why doesn't the most recent title sequence finish spelling Expedition out?

I’m a backpack nut. I was just curious if anybody knew what backpack Josh Gates had in the opening scenes of season 17. It has a curve like an osprey pack, but just didn’t know if anybody had any more insight.?

We have been working our way through the series and came across S10E7 on the escape from Alcatraz. The idea that they stole an electrical cord and used it to pull their raft behind a police boat was one of the stupidest ideas I have heard. Even Josh's attempt showed how it could never have worked.

There were many problems with it.

1. It was during the day
2. The tides likely were not the same
3. I think they used a rope and not a '60s electrical cord
4. Worst of all, they used a modern raft, and even it broke

I'm basing this off the Mythbusters episode where they attempted the escape themselves and proved it was plausible. They built a raft and life vests from rubber raincoats, used wooden paddles, attempted the crossing at night, and chose the right time to best match the tides. They actually made it to the mainland near the Marin Headlands.

During their crossing, they said they had to blow air in every 10 minutes so it barely survived being paddled. If it had been towed behind a boat, they wouldn't have made it 20 feet before it was torn to shreds.

The rest of the episode could be possible, but towing their raft behind a boat was not.

I have a memory of an episode involvingcharector animations, somthing to do with "invading" I believe, where josh is narrating the said animation sequence, and says somthing along the lines of "then this jackass shows up" or somthing like this.

When Josh goes on a treasure hunt from a pirate or criminal, dives for millions worth in historical coins, or does the metal detecting episodes for historical artifacts, who keeps what he finds?

Sometimes he does it with a company. For example, he had dived before with a company that sells the stuff they find. In that episode, Josh finds two coins. Does discovery own the coins? Josh himself? The company he’s diving with?

Same with historical guns, gold bars, all the cool stuff he finds

I just watched the premiere episode and noticed that nobody else here had made a post about it so I figured I would get the conversation flowing.

I personally thought it was a pretty solid opener. I’d never heard of the “Hell Ships” before so that was interesting to learn about. It was also a fun tidbit to hear about Josh’s dad being a ‘hard-hat’ diver (another thing I’d never heard of before)

While of course I don’t like the ‘to be continued’ at the end (I just wanna watch it all now!) after seeing the ending stinger I understand there will be a lot more for the show to dig in on which should be interesting.

This new season looks like it will be a lot of fun and I’m actually looking forward to each new episode. Also I should make mention that I really love the total lack of AI generated imagery, at least in this episode - unlike many episodes of Josh’s other show “Expedition Files” which uses uncanny looking AI backgrounds and clips.
