Help for Buyer Is there a 3D printed item filter?

I'm an avid gamer and really love using Etsy to buy game related knicknacks to add to my collection. An issue I've been having is that a lot of items I browse are 3D printed. I don't mean any offense to the artists that use 3D printing, they do great work. I just personally am not a fan of how 3D printed pieces look. Just something about the grainy and kinda jagged surface they end up having.

Is there some sort of way to filter my searches by material used? So I can see primarily non - 3D printed stuff?

Help for Seller Anime fan art on Etsy, how is everyone not getting DMCA'd

I want to start doing anime themed prints and coasters. I have a eufymake E1 and can print on pretty much anything. But the copyright thing scares me. Meanwhile there are shops with 5000+ sales doing straight up Demon Slayer and JJK character art and they've been up for years. is there some grey area I don't understand?

Have someone ever ordered from Italy ? Also the seller's shop has been closed by Etsy but it was after it was given to the postal service. It's very suspicious to me that the package was scanned twice at the same place. Since I live in France I can't see what's preventing the shipment.

For Sellers: Shipping Question about shipments from Spain - Duda sobre envíos en España

Help for Buyer When did Etsy become a scammer site?

I only buy from Etsy once a year or so, but it seems like the last few times I’ve gone to the website, it’s been been full of AI and scams. I did order something recently, and unfortunately, I know I’m never going to get it. I tried getting a refund and they told me that my item was lost in shipping and they would send me my item and two other free ones– I’m not interested in the two other items – and I again requested a refund and they stopped responding.

It didn’t use to be like this. I’m so frustrated right now, trying to navigate it and figure out how to report this and get my money back. Even that used to be easier.

Discussion I bought 20 dropshipped items from dodgy sellers so you don't have to.. But you probably will buy them too

Hi I was doing a focused study for my degree, and a chunk was dedicated to grey areas. Through lack of inspiration I found out about etsys problem with dropshipping. Which I totally agree with BTW, pls don't shoot me down.

So I ordered a bunch of jewelery, as a friend of mine has an etsy store selling jewelry and she makes about 4 sales a year, it's not through bad quality or rubbish listings, it's simply handmade costs are significantly higher than Chinese factory costs

I recieved the package two weeks after ordering, 6 days before the delivery due date (I'm in the UK) I pestered the seller for a discount, they gave me one before I ordered, I then pestered again for tracking. They gave me the tracking well before the item said dispatched, all though the tracking was royal mail and not some international carrier. They were very polite and seemed happy to help.

The items came and were packaged how you'd expect - grey bag, with small cardboard surrounding each item. I was expecting plastic crap but my gosh they are good!

The metal is exactly as pictured, the stones are probably synthetic but the colour and texture is beautiful! I wore a bracelet on a night out and returned home expecting green skin and never got it, the metal didn't fade or change colour or lose finish, each item was £12-£20 whereas the control group I bought where I could verify they weren't dropshipped had similar qualities but it was double the price!

All sellers agreed to a refund/ return and a short telephone interview when I explained my study. I really wasn't expecting either group to do that but 100% of them said yes. I guess they saw it as a marketing opportunity. The dropshippers were not selling from aliexpress they all had set up networks of factorily owners and agents who made or procured the products on their behalf. None of them sold anywhere else other than etsy.

I just wanted to give my two cents, I know dropshipping is frowned upon here, and rightly so when something says made in Scunthorpe and it's made in shanghai it's obviously dodgy. But does anyone think that etsy should just allow dropshippers and give them chance to show that's what they're doing? And maybe include a check in search results you can tick to exclude them if that's what you want?

Interested to hear some more opinions on this as it will give me more fuel for my study.

Sorry if I've offended anyone or completely missed the point. Hope you all have a lovely day 😎

Help for Buyer Does Etsy care?

I purchased an item that said it was shipping from California. Clear across the country to my location, but at least it was from the US. Today, eight days after purchase, I received a shipment notification, and it's coming from CHINA! My whole purpose in shopping on Etsy is to contribute to the success of small businesses. I do not consider dropshippers a small business. These are clearly bait-and-switch business tactics. Wouldn't this go against Etsy's terms for sellers? Etsy doesn't have a direct number to call, but is there a way to reach out to them and complain about a shop?

For Sellers: Shipping Multiple Shipping Locations. Customer Questioning Origin

Hi everyone,

I use a local printing company to sell my artwork. They have a few locations near each other, but I just have their main location on Etsy since Etsy only allows you to put one location per listing.

I recently had a customer ask why their order was shipped from another state instead of the location shown on Etsy. Since I don't control the exact location, I'm wondering how other sellers handle this.

Has anyone else run into this? After thousands of sales, this is the first time anyone has ever questioned it. Has anyone ever had any issues with Etsy over this?

Thanks

Help for Buyer Custom Oil Paintings Real?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to get a custom house portrait on Etsy. There are multiple sellers (from Ukraine) that offer custom oil portraits and they all claim they are 100% handmade and there's no AI or digital printing. They are within the range of $315-$360 for a 12x16 piece on stretched canvas and usually completed within a 7-10 day timeframe (excluding delivery). Does this sound like it could be a genuine oil painting? What steps can I take to make sure that I'm not getting scammed or a digitally altered piece? Are there certain questions I should ask or requirements I should ask of them?

Looking to Buy Looking for Men’s Rings

Hi! I’d like to support a small business/artist so please link your store below. My husband and I got married last December and I got burned BAD by an Etsy dropshipper in regards to his ring. I wanted to get him something unique, he loves French history so was looking for a bee signet. Spent $400. Ring was practically plastic and didn’t even fit him. Wanting to get him something new and better for our anniversary to make up for it. Anyways TLDR-looking for an actual person who creates unique/vintage inspired men’s rings.

EDIT: I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN PEOPLE WITH A STOREFRONT THAT COMMENTS BELOW. DO NOT DM ME.

Let me know! ❤️🙂‍↕️ TIA!

Help for Buyer Help finding an account

I was about to make a purchase on Etsy but the account got deleted while the item was in my cart. I had not thought far enough ahead to screenshot the product listing, so I’m hoping someone could help me find the account or product again. The shop was VelaNailStudio from Vietnam. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it! An instagram or Facebook link is okay too.

Help for Buyer Etsy offered me $3 back to connect a bank account and then the AI said I used a card when I didn't and refused to connect me with a representative--how do I get my $3 back?

Hello,

I bought some stationery from a store on Etsy, and as I was checking out, I saw a little green offer in the "payment method" section that said I could get $3 back if I connected a bank account. Shipping was a bit pricey, so I thought, cool.

I followed all the steps and connected my bank account successfully and then clicked on that to pay. I noticed while checking out that it wasn't discounting the purchase. I paid and looked for any more info about how to get the $3 back and couldn't find it, so I went to the "contact us" page.

It made me talk to an AI chatbot. I described the problem and requested help getting my $3. The AI literally told me that the order was paid for with a card, so I couldn't get $3, and that it "unfortunately" couldn't connect me with a representative.

I double checked the order and wrote back to the AI saying it WAS paid for with a bank account and provided the account number. The AI said, "sorry, but what I can view tells me that this was paid for with a card." Like wtf? It's right there?

I guess I'm a little frustrated because the AI is literally making something up that is wrong and I have no email to contact, no employee to chat with, and no phone number to call. Is there anything else I can do or is the $3 just a lie? Thank you for any suggestions you have, and I probably won't be using Etsy again any time soon.

Help for Seller Repeated suspected card-testing orders targeting my Etsy shop – What would you do?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from other Etsy sellers because I've been dealing with the same issue repeatedly.

Over the past few months, I've received multiple high-value orders (around €700–€850) from what appear to be newly created buyer accounts. The pattern is always the same:

  • A brand-new buyer account places a high-value order.
  • The buyer favorites my items shortly before purchasing.
  • The order usually consists of duplicate quantities of the same products.
  • Within seconds or minutes, the buyer sends a message demanding an immediate cancellation.
  • In previous cases, the buyer specifically requested Etsy Credits instead of a standard refund.
  • If I don't cancel immediately, they begin sending abusive messages, accusing me of fraud and threatening to report my shop and discourage others from buying from me.

I reported the previous incidents to Etsy Trust & Safety as Etsy said that it was card testing. After reviewing the case, Etsy informed me that they had identified suspicious activity associated with the buyer's account and instructed me to cancel the orders and issue refunds through Etsy's normal cancellation process.

Now the exact same pattern has happened again with a new order. The buyer immediately requested cancellation again, and one additional order from the same pattern was automatically rejected by Etsy.

Has anyone else experienced repeated suspicious orders like this? If so:

  • How did Etsy handle your case?
  • Did Etsy eventually stop the buyer from creating new accounts?
  • Were your shop metrics affected by the cancellations?
  • Would you wait for Etsy's response before taking further action, or cancel immediately based on the previous guidance?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.

Thank you.
