Rules update

Given recent reports received and comment threads I’ve been involved in, I’ve decided to update 2 subreddit rules which can also be selected when reporting a post or comment.

No Misinformation: We have people new to Epiphone posting here to check/validate if their new gear is real, we do not need comments every single time making out they’re stupid for asking a legitimate question; Epiphone has had a long running and well documented struggle with fake guitars damaging their reputation. There is evidence everywhere including hundreds of sites, forums, YouTube videos and eBay auctions. In terms of the newer headstock design being faked, there do seem to be a lot less of them but there was a post only 2 months ago in another guitar subreddit which I’m sure many of you follow that shows a clear fake of the new headstock design so they do exist.

Non-related content: As a general rule this subreddit should only contain posts related to Epiphone, this includes but is not limited to YouTube videos of you playing your Epiphone, Epiphone related news/leaks and questions. If you wish to post content outside of this scope please message the mod.

I will leave the existing rule violations in place as I’m not going to start retroactively enforcing these rules like some dictator. Debates and challenging people’s opinion is fine, if you want to be a flat-Earther in regards to facts this is not the subreddit for you.

NGD Epiphone Limited Edition '62 SG (G-400) in Alpine/Vintage White

Wow! What a great guitar. Bought used from an independent guitar store.
Build quality is excellent.
Frets, fingerboard and neck feel great. I think this is the model in the title. Chrome Hardware with Grover tuners, Pickups sound really good. Epiphone Limited Edition Custom Shop stamp on back of headstock. This guitar should not play this good for what I paid for it.

U.M. I know, I'm probably spamming this guitar way too much, I'm just happy about how it turned out.

Dedicated Nashville Tuned Guitar

I'm converting a Les Paul Special II I picked up to a dedicated Nashville tuned guitar.

I've already purchased a new Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut and a set of high-strung, Nashville strings. I'll probably need to adjust the truss rod a bit to add some relief on the neck and possibly reverse the saddles on the bridge for the EAD and possibly the G string.

I'm curious if anyone else has done this and if you have any tips or tricks.

NGD…2014 Epiphone Traditional Pro Les Paul!

I absolutely love this guitar! Plays like a dream and the coil-splitting capability allowed my thirteen year old son to have his first NGD as well; I gave him my Strat! Also my first Les Paul without a bolt-on neck. I ordered one of those exclusive Sweetwater cases in the vintage brown Tolex and pink interior for its safe keeping. So stoked to have this guitar!

NGD: 2006 Les Paul Special LQ

I just picked up this lovely 2006 LP Special LQ in TV Yellow, made by Fugigen in Japan as part of Epiphone's Lacquer Series. I did a level, crown, and polish on the frets and upgraded the electronics with some spare parts I had laying around. It has an old late '70s clear-bobbin Gibson P90 in the bridge and a 2010s Gibson P90 with alnico 3 in the neck.

It's a lovely guitar. Plays and sounds really nice. I love the super thin lacquer finish on this thing. I think it's some sort of acrylic? As I understand its not nitrocellulose lacquer, so it doesn't react with everything. It shows knicks, dings, and scratches and has paint chips missing along the edges, but adds a lot of charm and character to the instrument.

It's quite resonant and noticeably loud unplugged. Plugged in with a bit of gain, it has a beefy authoritative tone like any P90 ought to. And like any proper P90 equipped guitar, it can get downright rude quite easily, yet clears up significantly with the controls on the guitar.

These japanese made Epiphones are great! I may have to find more to add to my collection in the future...

Authentic?

Hey everyone, first time post so hopefully I format this correctly.

I went into a local shop and found this Epiphone, which I absolutely love and placed and deposit on it. After getting home I did some research on it, but Google is giving me some mixed signals and wanted to see if anyone can help me clarify some things.

The serial number suggests this is a 2020 model made in April, but from what I can find online, they weren't made in that time frame due to Covid and restrictions on exports at the time. So from what Google's AI suggests, it's a fake. I'm relatively new to playing guitar and just trying to get a better idea of what sources to trust.

Other than the time frame, Google suggests the headstock is a problem area as well. It keeps referring to it as a "Clipped Ear" when it should be a "Kalamazoo"

If anyone could shed some light on this and help out an aspiring guitarist, I'd really appreciate it!

Why don't the 1959 ES-355's have a 6-way varitone switch?

I mean, come on. It's period-correct, and it's a super cool addition to any semi-hollowbody. You can get lots of unique sounds from them. The only way to get one now is on the Alex Lifeson ES-355 or the B.B. King Lucille. Anyone have ideas why varitones were not included on the 1959 ES-355? Wish they had included them, or at least offered a version with the varitone, but no. I'm tempted to add one to my IBGC ES-355, but part of me just wants to save up for a vintage Gibson ES-345 with a varitone instead of devaluing my Epiphone any further than I already have with the Bigsby.

Also wish Epiphone had a factory Bigsby version, not a fan of stopbar tailpieces at all. They look weird leaving all that space on a big semi-hollow, and Bigsbys are functional.

The ones for the inspired by Gibson and Gibsons are too small/short. Anyone know a good alternative?

Which model Epiphone is this? Seems to be missing a pickguard (see 4 holes on the body). Is it a good guitar? Is it at a good price?

So, this just happened. I bought my SG one month ago and my clumsy ass hit it on a corner. Is there something I can do to make it less visible? Thanks in advance.
