Is Elk Grove on SMUD or PG&E for electricity, or does it vary by location and zip?

Hi, all:

Trying to move to the area but cannot for the life of me figure out whether the rental will be on SMUD or PG&E, which directly impacts how much I can afford in my budget in determining a rental, considering I see PG&E is vastly more expensive. Some rentals in Elk Grove list PG&E after "electric and gas," and I don't know if they mean gas is on PG&E or both, electricity and gas. I thought Elk Grove, all zipcodes, was served by SMUD alone for electricity. Can someone help decode this for me? Google's AI mode seems to think north of Laguna Blvd is SMUD and south of Laguna Blvd is PG&E, but I wanted to check with, you know, humans, and humans who actually live in reality and get the electric bills.

Also, can you weigh in on what I should be budgeting for electricity on average in your area for a house under 1500 SQ. Ft? (The smaller the better, like 1000-1200, but those seem to be hard to come by.) Ditto for water, sewage, garbage, and gas. I'm having trouble understanding what is actually in my budget with these rental prices that attach a water, sewage, garbage, and gas fee on top of utilities... And whether the fee is used for what it states or as a way to keep comps high for the area. Electricity is always variable, but a general understanding of how much I could typically expect if I kept a thermostat of about 72* (I have snow dogs, and even this is pretty hot to them! Ironic, as that is too cold for me... But in true dog pawrent form, I do what I have to do to keep them healthy!) would be extremely appreciated.

Cheers!

Ticks at Don Nottoli Park

Was at the park this morning and noticed ticks crawling all along the grass and playground. Is this normal for the City of Elk Grove? I can't imagine them not being aware of it being an issue. I did call and leave a complaint or "Customer Concern" with the city. Hopefully they address it soon!

Edit: I am surprised by all of the negative and sarcastic replies. I love taking my kids to the park and have never before encountered this sort of concern. That said I also understand that the outdoors is home for our tiny friends'. Unfortunately, Ticks do carry diseases for both people and pets; and considering it is a park popular for my neighbors to take their children and dogs to I hope they take appropriate precautions! More than anything I wanted to warn people who would like to enjoy this beautiful park so they can be mindful and take appropriate measures to protect themselves and their loved ones until the park is tick free!

Meetup groups in Elk Grove

Curious if there are groups that meet up regularly in Elk Grove. I'm part of a non-profit that meets weekly. Interested to see what else people are doing to socialize in Elk Grove.

I joined the Ultimate Frisbee discord that was shared here recently.

Thanks!

Looking to start a band.

27M, posting here in hopes that I find some likeminded people in the Elk Grove/Sacramento area. My influences are mainly grunge era, so late 80’s/early 90’s, but I have other influences and listen to many other things as well. I play guitar (rhythm and lead) but I can play bass as well, although I don’t own a bass. I believe rock/metal about to make a comeback, so I hope to talk to some of you soon!

Coming up for a long weekend in August and looking for a good hotel. I know there are fancier ones in sac but we are looking to stay in the Elk Grove area. Seems our options are Hilton/hyatt… but if anyone has stayed in either or knows of a better option, please let me know ☺️

30F. Where to meet other 30 something year olds?

Hi! I know r/sacramentofriends exists but my husband and I just moved to Elk Grove to settle down (his family is from sac so please don’t be territorial) and would love to get to know locals first.

We are your typical suburban couple that wants to eventually have a family here, be a part of the community, look out for one another, etc etc. Where do the other 30-something year olds hang out? What time do they come out LOL.

Ty and we love this place :)

Decommissioned Fire Trucks on old Calvine Road?

Hello,

There are two firetrucks parked on Calvine road near Valley High. One still has the exempt tags on it. Any idea where they come from or why they are there? I know we had that guy driving around in one a few years back causing issues with the fire hydrants. Wondering if we are about to get a repeat offender.

Looking for social friends

Hi so 18 Asian male that just graduated in school. I wasn’t lonely in school but wasn’t super social either (I’m an introvert). Now that I graduated I find it hard to make friends or how to meet people in person. Any tips or advice? For the past 2 months I’ve been dying from boredom talking to old friends online staying at home. Pls reach out!

Do you have any recommendations for a local coffee roaster? I live in Franklin/Laguna and make espresso at home.
