OPEN Trying to fix my electric toothbrush (stopped vibrating)

My electric tooth brush stopped vibrating, I decided to open it to see if I can fix it but I can't seem to find the problem. Occasionally, before I opened it, I was able to get it to vibrate gain when I shook it or tapped it against my hand, but it stopped after a few seconds. It charge well.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you!

OPEN DAB radio not working — suspect the AC/DC step-down converter, how do I test it safely?

Thumbnail

My DAB radio stopped working, so I opened it up to investigate. Inside I found a small 230V AC to DC step-down converter (not sure of the exact output voltage — didn't see a clear label). To narrow down the problem, I bypassed it and powered the board directly with a 9V battery instead, and the radio worked fine. So it seems like the converter itself is the faulty part, not the rest of the electronics.

Now I want to test the converter properly to confirm it's actually the problem (and not something in the wiring) before I try to replace or fix it. What's the safest way to go about this?

Hello,

So I found this tv on the streets and it works alright except the top left part looks like it got hit or water got into it ?

My question is : is it better to throw it out or is it repairable? Replacing an LCD screen can be kinda of expensive and since tvs are a lot cheaper now so idk what to do.

Any advice?

OPEN LG TV Backlight Issue?

Post image

Hi everyone! I have a two year old LG TV: Model #65QNED80TUC. Recently I think the backlight burnt out, because you can still see something on the screen when you use a flashlight to look at it, but otherwise the screen looks black. I took it apart to see if I could figure out how to replace it, but it looks way different than any other model I found online. I have some experience fixing electronics, and figured I'd try my best with this one before getting rid of it.

Can someone help point me in the right direction? Or is this too weird to fix?

Edit: I took the entire thing apart and maybe I'm dumb but it doesn't have an LED panel?

Other Capacitors in old electronics

Upvotes

Hello I was wondering if I could get some insight or feedback on capacitors/components that are 40ish years old?

Should I test every capacitor that's on the board and then order the ones out of spec?

Test only the ones possibly giving issues?

Just order ever capacitor that the board has?

Do I only change the dielectric capacitors?

Is there anything else I should buy on top of the aged capacitors?

It's for an old tv I'd really like to use a lot but I don't want anything to fail and then possibly take something else out with it? So I imagine preventive maintenance is the best action I'm just not sure where to start really?

Hi, a user sent over this burnt HP OMEN 15-ek0008la and I noticed these two ICs are leaking current as heat. I think the one on the left says 51398P TI 021 CGGR and the one on the right is 51395 TI 881 C3J4. I can't find the schematics so, are these names correct? What are they and are they worth changing?

Motherboard model number:

DA0G3EMBCD0 REV D

Does anyboby know where to find good schematics in general?

Thank you.

OPEN dropped my brand new canon elph 360 during vacation minutes after finally buying an sd card

I’m honestly devastated and could use some advice.
I begged my parents to get me a camera before we took a trip to Singapore and india, and we bought a Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 HS from Cardinal Cameras for around $400 literally two days before the trip. I was so excited to start using the camera and i really wanted a nice digi cam in general before i start college. i had a beat up shitty sony cybershot so it was really nice to have a better one. We didn’t have time to get an SD card before the trip so we just got one two days into our singapore trip. I was so excited to start using it

Literally 30 minutes later at an aquarium, I dropped it. I had only taken around 5 pictures. I feel awful because it was expensive and I was really looking forward to using it for vacation pics and memories.
Now the lens is stuck and won’t retract, it makes a grinding/fluttering noise when I turn it on and it shows a “Lens Error” message. There are some small scratches, but nothing major

Is this fixable? Is it likely just the lens mechanism, and would a repair be worth it?

I’m also going to India in a few days so would it be worth trying to get it repaired there, or should I wait until I’m back?
Any advice would be appreciated. I’m really hoping I didn’t completely ruin it

OPEN Power pin disconnected, lodged in power adapter

Thumbnail

I unplugged this console to move it to another room and the pin in the power port came out with the power adapter.

The device turns on when the adapter is re-inserted with enough pressure but it would appear that there is just enough space to keep the pin from full contact with the device when the pressure is removed.

Likely looking to make a trip to an electronic repair shop down the road but from the phone call it doesn't sound like a they'll be able to re-attach the pin and would have to find a part not overly available.

Is there a temporary solution i.e any kind of material/conductor I could use to bridge that gap in the meantime? Open to any sort of jimmy-rigging to keep the device powered on.

Device in question is a "PlayStation TV", aka "Vita TV" game console.

Any idea if these are easy to fix? Dont wanna junk em if they can be fixed...not sure whats wrong with them, and the power cords have been cut so i cant test them. First thing would be to replace the power cords, and test them, but is it even worth doing that? i guess that depends how easy these are to fix in general.

Hi all, my MSI laptop has seen better days and the plastic casing around the hinge has broken. Could I squeeze some e3000 in there and pinch it closed or could the glue negatively affect the computer? I do not believe any wires run through the right hinge but I could be wrong. What do you all think?

OPEN How to fix/can I fix my cd player? What is that sound?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The video shows the audio issues i’m describing. One of the speakers on the right is dented in but I don’t think that would be the entire problem (unless i’m wrong)? the CD still spins and i’ve tried multiple, so it’s not the CD itself, it’s the player. The radio works pretty much perfectly so it’s not an audio issue, hence why i said it’s probably not the dented speaker. All of the buttons seem to work fine, i can skip songs etc (despite it not playing it aloud, it shows on the screen). Volume works great, can switch through stations easily, it just won't play CDs. It constantly buzzes a bit which i’m assuming is either normal or just from age, not sure when this was made but i’m sure it wasn’t recently. That isn’t the sound problem to me, it’s the sound ( and the lack of sound ) when the CD is playing. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge on this but i have no idea what the sound is and why my music won’t play. it just spins with no music and almost sounds wet or like bubbles, just sounds weird. I’m sure it’s an interior problem where the cd gets inserted? is it just dirty? is something missing? is a piece broken? is it beyond repair? Please please let me know, i’d love to fix this up and use it!!! Any advice is extremely appreciated!! Thank you!
