He’s dropped out of the top 10 for goalie prospects. And he hasn’t had a very good pedigree with Buffalo since he’s been in the league. But that’s only been through like 40 total games. He’s had a pretty good AHL career and he’s only 24. His pre-NHL career was pretty impressive. If he’s mentored under someone like Freddie, do you think it’ll help him grow? I mean, if he develops well over the next few years, he could be a real good piece for EDM. But that’s a lot of if’s, the same if’s we gave Skinner, Campbell, and Jarry.

I’m optimistic, I feel like playing with a good, established environment will help a lot.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing it changed to something different other than Fluxland. I know it's a bit of a chant to get the crowd going too but I feel we are in need of a change.

Player A is (obviously) McDavid. Player B is Wilt Chamberlain. Both came in and were lauded as the most talented player the world had ever seen, both immediately started establishing themselves as a statistical monster towering over the league, both were regularly noted for playing for organizations that didn't properly support them with surrounding cast, and quite often both were criticized for not having a more well rounded game that would contribute to winning.

There's some differences of course (notably that Wilt had 1 championship in that time, and that Wilt was a notoriously difficult teammate), but the historical parallel stuck out to me.

In Worlds QF in May, Ryan Lindgren left his feet for an illegal head shot to Evan Bouchard. Knocked Bouchard, Canada’s best D by a mile, out of event, risked serious injury, likely cost Canada gold. IIHF game so NHL did nothing. Who plays first shift against Lindgren?

This offseason I’m passing time by watching & reading the content of Oilers Reporters & longtime fans. The consistent thing is how much Howard glaze there is; even the Daily Faceoff has him in the 1st Line with Hyman and McDavid for the next Season.

Huh? You mean the guy who’s always at the AHL, that can’t stay his keep at the NHL? Howard is mid at best.

Yes, I know he put up good numbers at the AHL last season, but everyone and their mother does that. And soon as they’re in the NHL, they dip. All Howard has is his offense, and even that isn’t that good.

If there’s a young Oiler who’s tried & tested, that’s Matt Savoie. He’s:

• fast,
• a hard-worker that produces immediate positive results (as seen from the Olympic break),
• already has good 2-Way plays,
• and most importantly, he plays well with McDavid.

He and Howard are the same age, but he’s already substantially better than him. He is Dylan Holloway’s replacement (although, Holloway is still better). Savoie should be the one getting the most attention and opportunities on a 1st line with McDavid. But naaahh, the constant he’s only a 2nd/3rd line guy and Howard is automatically slotted up in the 1st line offseason talks are getting annoying.

My little and me do a yearly trip to watch MacKinnon and McDavid light it up, we’ve stayed at the same hotel the last two years (Sandman Signature) it’s great because we can literally stay inside from room to seat, my question is, what other hotel has this option downtown.

Not sure what you call it in Edmonton but Calgary has the same style of system in downtown where you can literally stay inside buildings the entire time and get from one side of dt to basically the other and it’s called the “+15” and everyone loves it.
