i kept lowering mine, but once I got down near the minimum it just felt twitchy. I ended up back around 0.15mm rt with roughly 1.0mm actuation. still fast, but I'm not getting random movement from barely touching the key.
curious where everyone else ended up after testing it properly. do most of you raise it again?
Iqunix said i should drop this over here. It is crisp, very nice keyboard I have the Shell Core. It comes with a bunch of extra keys to change things up. Lower "volume" mechanical keys they dont have that loud click but they are sensitive and very responsive. The LEDs are customizable and nice and bright. The metal frame is heavier so it doesn't slide around on a desktop or on mouse pad. When I bought it I didnt realize it didnt have function keys so I got a solution for that myself by getting a Kisnt keypad that ive customized for the games I play that use the F keys.

Definately didn't need another keyboard, but when I seen it I had to have it. My wife thinks I'm a lunatic, and I probably am. It's my birthday today so I treated myself. Life is short so if you want that keyboard, just get it.
The keyboard is so beautifully crafted and is so pleasant to use and type on, they really knocked it out of the park with this collab.. I absolutely love it.

we ship pro on the standard EV63s and nova on the ghost editions, and "what's the real difference" is the question we get most. we can mention the spec sheet but lived-in answers beat ours. if you've put real hours on both, what's the honest difference in feel and sound. best answers get quoted in the faq with credit.

normally i ignore these anime collab gimmicks but Shell Core surprised me. in my experience, official renders always lie, looks way less toy-like in person and fits the 1995 Section 9 vibe better than I expected.

u/chasejitsu dropped their EV63 config for CS & Marathon in my setups thread, so i'm making it the showcase for this week. it's their first HE board and they use a zoned setup.
i actually really like the separated zones here. keeping the spacebar and shift slightly heavier at 0.6mm stops accidental jumps if you rest your hands heavy. anyone else running different zones for movement vs abilities, or do you just blanket the whole board at 0.1mm?
The essentials are here, but this is not a luxury unboxing with a carrying case or a pile of spare switches (imagine having a GITS carrying case). That is a small shame because the keyboard itself looks like a collector’s item, so a richer package would match the theme better. Still, the included accessories are useful, and the GITS theme makes the board look absolutely stunning.
It sounds like it plays: sharp, controlled, and immediate — not a deep thock machine, but a tight aluminum HE board with a clean clacky bite.
Design and Build Quality
Right off the bat, this is where the Ghost in the Shell edition really starts to set itself apart from your regular EV63. While the stock EV63 already looked like something out of the future, the GITS board just feels more purposeful. More cinematic. More “collector’s item.” This is a keyboard that doesn’t just look like someone Photoshopped a logo on top of it. This looks like IQUNIX sat down, stared at Ghost in the Shell, and actually tried to translate that 1995 cyberpunk aesthetic into hardware.
The back
My Cyber Blue version favors darker shades of blue, grey, and translucent accents, while Shell Core definitely goes for brighter, cleaner, and more artificial coloring. They both utilize aluminum builds with PC accent pieces. The design takes heavy inspiration from tactical armor, cybernetic machinery, and devices connected by wires.
Underneath that excellent exterior, however, the EV63 keeps many of the same fantastic mechanical qualities as its predecessor. The case is still small and dense, tray-mounted, and extremely rigid. That last part is key. While the EZ-series felt great with its softer silicone gasket, the EV63 hits harder. Literally. Each keystroke feels more direct and solid under the fingers. For gaming, I actually prefer that. Key presses feel snappier with less mushy “float” between the up and down positions. This is excellent for games where you are spamming “A/D” to reset position or tight crouch jumps that require micro directional inputs.
Spacebar cyberpunk vibes
Speaking of position, the board also retains the 6-degree fixed typing angle. That is still my largest ergonomic gripe with the EV63. It isn’t bad by any stretch. Don’t get me wrong. My wrist doesn’t hurt when using it. It’s just that I wish there were SOME ability to change the height. As far as stock goes, there are no kick-out feet, no magnetic silicone risers, and absolutely no option for a dedicated wrist-rest solution. If you plan to play/test/game for hours at a time, I can definitely see some users wanting that.
Let’s talk about modding. IQUNIX also advertises the EV63 as using an eSport Tray Mount design compatible with standard 60% cases like Tofu (not Tofu 2.0). That gives it more modding potential than many closed gaming boards, but I would still treat compatibility as case-dependent rather than fully universal across every 60% case.
Obviously, the keyboard is only wired (Iqunix really means the performance), so no tri-mode switch, only one USB-C port at the back top left. Don’t forget the beautiful dark purple plate at the back. Just look at that stunning design; I can’t praise it enough.
Keycaps
Keycaps definitely are not an afterthought with this one. They fit into the Ghost in the Shell theme that IQUNIX wove throughout the board. So, the build uses a mix of PBT/PC keycaps with themed legends, translucent accents, and RGB-friendly touches. The EV63 regular proved that translucent caps aren’t inherently cheesy if you execute well with solid RGB. With this board, the concept is dialed back even further. Rather than simple aesthetics, the translucent caps help reinforce the board’s cybernetic theme. The PC accents give the board that cold, sterile feel like it was built in a lab, while the typing surface stays a bit more practical with the PBT.
Themed keycaps
The legends and artwork are another great thing. There’s enough Ghost in the Shell goodness on this board to feel thematic, but it doesn’t dive into clownish or loud territory. Remember, this is still a gaming keyboard first and foremost, not a toy. That balance is important, as anime-themed peripherals can often lean too far into cheap knick-knack territory. This isn’t one of those. They also make the RGB look pretty insane, just look below:
One more thing: the texture of the keycaps seems really durable — after the whole period of extensive testing, no visual wear was spotted.
Switches
The Ghost in the Shell edition uses KEYTOK Nova magnetic switches, exclusive to this collaboration version of the EV63. That already makes this version feel more special than a simple recolor.
Nova switches are designed as linear Hall Effect switches with a focus on stability, smoothness, and consistent triggering. The official materials point to reduced wobble, stable actuation, and better RGB diffusion through the switch housing.
For a magnetic keyboard, this matters more than people think. A Hall Effect switch is not just about spring weight or sound. The magnet, stem stability, travel consistency, and magnetic curve all influence how predictable the keyboard feels. If the switch wobbles too much or the magnetic reading is inconsistent, Rapid Trigger can feel less precise even if the spec sheet looks insane.
Nova specs
Compared to the older Gateron Star Trail switches used in some earlier HE boards, IQUNIX’s newer switch direction feels much more serious. The regular EV63 Magnetic X Pro was already a big step forward in stability and precision. Nova seems like the “special edition” answer to that same philosophy: smooth, stable, gaming-focused, and visually matched to the GITS build.
Sound-wise, do not expect a deep mechanical “thock” monster. This is still a Hall Effect gaming board. The sound is more crisp and direct than soft and creamy. But for a compact metal HE board, that sharper response actually matches the purpose.
I cannot decide which switch I actually prefer, the old one used in the regular EV63, or this new one. Both feel sharp and stable to me, and you can't go wrong with any of them.
This is why EV63 remains on top today. The keyboard revolves around 8K polling, 16K scanning, 0.01 mm Rapid Trigger, and extremely low-latency targets. The official spec sheet has IQUNIX quoting 0.125 ms latency, but you should never take in-game testing numbers at face value like marketing specifications.
Under load, the EV63 feels murderously quick. Even the original EV63 felt like a keyboard that took every ounce of friction out of movement. It was faster than “just” good numbers on paper. Movement in FPS games felt directly impacted: snappier counter-strafing, quicker resets, cleaner taps, etc. Just overall more confidence when chaining rapid inputs.

The numbers advertised by Iqunix are pretty close to reality, according to testing vs Wooting80 HE in Tachyon Mode (we will talk about different modes in the Software section):

The primary difference EV63 has over softer boards is control. The tray mount has a crisper response and plays better with magnetic switches because there’s less cushion between your finger and the actual input. For typing, some might prefer the softer EZ-series feel, but for pure gaming, EV63 makes more sense.
The 0.01 mm Rapid Trigger is obviously overkill, and most users won’t feel the need to go that low. But the fact that you have that option of going that low allows you to fine-tune your board however you want. In fast-movement games like Quake, Valorant, or Counter-Strike (heavy style strafing), or any game where timing your key release is important, the EV63 just feels surgical.
Many Hall Effect keyboards already feel fast. What players actually notice is whether the keyboard stays stable and predictable during fast gameplay. This one delivers.
Software and HyperCore V3
With Hall Effect keyboards, software is half the product. The hardware can be excellent, but if the firmware is unstable or the web driver feels half-baked, the whole experience falls apart. This is where the EV63 has changed the most since the original review.
IQUNIX now runs the EV63 on HyperCore V3, a firmware platform rebuilt around speed, stability, predictable input, and smarter switch adaptation. IQUNIX says the goal was not only to make the keyboard faster, but to make every keypress feel more reliable under real gameplay pressure. I’ve seen and tested this software before, and I have to say the brand has made a huge step forward during the last two years.
Hypercore v3
The latency claims for HyperCore V3 are very aggressive: around 0.29–0.30 ms actuation latency and 0.26–0.27 ms release latency in IQUNIX’s dual latency tests. But the more important part is consistency. IQUNIX specifically talks about improving RT behavior, reducing input noise, rebuilding filtering, improving temperature compensation, optimizing signal handling, and making long sessions more stable.
The biggest new feature is Smart Switch Adaptation. HyperCore V3 can automatically recognize most mainstream Hall Effect switches, excluding side-magnet designs. IQUNIX says the board can learn a switch after around 20–30 presses, or you can run manual calibration to record the switch instantly.
That is a huge quality-of-life improvement for switch swapping. Magnetic switches are not like normal mechanical switches. Different magnetic curves can change how the board reads travel, so automatic adaptation makes modding much less annoying.
The web software still gives you the core HE tools: actuation adjustment, Rapid Trigger, SOCD, Mod Tap, DKS, Toggle Keys, Rappy Snappy, RGB, profiles, layers, and remapping. HyperCore V3 also adds better profile handling, preserved settings after firmware updates, UI scaling improvements, refined RGB brightness/color curves, optimized FN indicators, and EDG Professional Mod.
Fanstastic, RGB-boosted keycaps
If you are new and wonder how to set your movement keys, I have something for you:
Breakdown of all performance modes:
Tournament (0.1mm RT): baseline. stable. Start here if you’re coming from a normal mech board.
E-Sport (0.05mm RT): tighter resolution. Better for counter-strafing without being too twitchy.
EDG (0.05mm RT): specifically tuned with the EDG squad (zmjjkk, smoggy, etc.) for their tournament rhythm. If you want that pro feel, this is it.
Fury (0.01mm RT): highest resolution. Fast, but if your hands aren’t steady, it’ll feel too sensitive.
Infinite: it pushes latency and sensitivity to the absolute limit, but it will expose sloppy movement immediately.
On top of that, the brand works relentlessly on improving the software and getting rid of any bugs. The changelogs are big, the updates are frequent — even during my testing period, there was one of them.
HyperCore v3 finally seems like a real competitor to Wootility. Is there a better recommendation in the gaming keyboard space than this?
Summary
Designers of this should get a raise
Beneath the art, translucent accents, PBT/PC keycaps, and cyberpunk-themed shell, you will find it is still very much a serious competitive Hall Effect keyboard. Asian e-ports pros love this board for a reason, and that reason is PERFORMANCE, which I had a blast trying to showcase throughout this review.
The build quality is also dense and premium. Tray mount gives inputs a rock-solid and instantaneous feeling. Nova switches match the theme well and keep the board tightly stabilized. The 8K polling, 16K scanning, 0.01 mm Rapid Trigger, and HyperCore V3 firmware keep it competitive with some of the best compact HE gaming keyboards out there.
It’s not perfect. The packaging could be more luxurious, and something could still be done about the fixed 6-degree typing angle. But what’s important to me is that IQUNIX didn’t squander the Ghost in the Shell license. This isn’t cheap fan service. Ghost in the Shell EV63 is a legitimately great EV63 build that finally has design elements that match how futuristic it plays.
And it seems that this collab is time-limited and sells out fast. Be fast too.
