I have $1000 to spend on a gun. What should I get?

I have a small duck hole on a Milo field and there’s grass in the hole when we flood it and hunt it the decoys get stuck in the grass and we can’t get any motion in the spread I thought about mowing it but I don’t know if it will take to much food from the ducks or if they even eat it any ideas?

I don’t know what’s wrong with this 870 but I can’t keep the rust off so I threw some rapco on it to hopefully protect it.

Also got tired of not being able to sling it so I ponied up and drilled the stock. If anyone has a better way to add more than an inch LOP than the limbsaver I’m all ears it shifts too much.

Made some wire slings for $12 a piece ($6 if you buy the cheap sling loops on amazon and not GrovTech)

Overbuilt a spreader/jerk rig system because I felt the rigem right was lackluster on its own.

Overall I’m happy with these cheap upgrades, figured I’d share to save others some coin!

I am just getting into duck hunting this year. I know wads are about impossible to find when shooting over a field, let alone in a marsh. So I was hoping to use ammo with biodegradable wads, I found a company called BioAmmo that makes some but it isn't widely sold in the US. I was able to find some online but I would only be able to get 2 3/4 in 1 1/16 oz 4 shot. I've been reading up on ammo selection for ducks and it seems like this will suffice for smaller ducks but maybe not mallards, which is primarily what's in my area. Any input on shell specs is greatly appreciated, as well as recommendations on factory ammo with eco friendly wads.

My buddy and I road tripped to Kentucky last weekend to pick up a new duck boat. I bought a 1650 gator trax marsh series with a 37 hp efi mud buddy. Anyone else run a similar rig?

Do I need to invest in a camo/synthetic shotgun or will this work.

One hit will be from boat blinds off nav coast. Other will be flooded corn in Louisiana. Both guided.

Got into duck hunting last year and used my sitka deer hunting cloths and tidewe waders. It worked but not that great. Sitka is a little too tight for duck hunting and I felt it wasn't warm enough especially for the cost.

Im a disabled veteran and the cold messes me up so whatever is warmest is best.

Right now I have merino wool base layer, heated socks with another layer of wool socks, fleece liner, just got a heated vest, and the tidewe 800g waders.

I do a mix of field and river hunting but would like to try kayak as well. So any good jackets for snow/windy conditions, gloves, face mask, ect.

Picked up an Ascend H12 with the blind and I’m excited to get out but looking for good tips on how to hide or setup my kayak. Been using it for fishing to get used to it while it’s nice and plan on getting out for early teal to test blind and the weight cap.

Anyway, I think my blind is good for now I’ll add local stuff come September. Any additions or pieces of equipment that were a game changer? Pic from last season for your time.

I had this idea for small ring project a little less than a year ago and it started as a conversation with some buddies. A 3D model and a few emails with a manufacturer later, they're actually here!

Hey guys, I want to get a better understanding of jump shooting from a kayak. I’m not new to duck hunting. I usually have a few private lands that I hunt every year, but I want to expand my horizons and try something new. I’ve heard of people mentioning jump shooting, but not anyone I know jump shoots.I just want to get a better understanding of what’s legal and what’s not. There are a few bridges that have navigable creeks that lead into big swamps eventually, and I was wondering if it would be legal to access it from a state-owned bridge. I’d assume I have to stay on a kayak and float and not touch the ground beneath the water? I hear mixed opinions about this because some people say you can touch the ground beneath the water mark, you just can’t touch the ground above it like the banks and whatnot, but I can’t seem to find any regulations that explain anything about this. I appreciate the help and tips!

After a long distance move and liquidating my decoys, I am rebuilding my decoy spread. It has been quite some time since I purchased decoys (Over a decade). While I am not made of money I can afford to get some quality blocks, which is a change from my younger days. (And yes I've been watching the facebook/craigslist ads. Locally the sellers are way overpriced for what is being offered and they decoys conditions are really rough).

Brand wise, if I'm looking at a mid to upper but not Cadillac level of quality what should I be looking at? (Back in the day the "hot buy" big box store mallards were the entry level, I'd like to avoid that).

I kept a few of my nicer blocks, so I need about a half dozen mallards, and maybe another half dozen of something else (teal? Widgeon?) to get up and running again. (I usually run keel hook weights in slotted bags.)

If you were rebuilding your spread what would you be looking at these days? And what would you be putting together for a smaller but quality spread. {I am looking at another move again in about 3-4 years so If I buy it I want it to be nice enough to warrant moving it again}

Hi all. Friendly non-hunter here. Can you tell me, is it necessary to hang (bleed out, maybe?) and "age" the meat of a duck that you have shot - as you would with a deer carcass? And would one also do this procedure with smaller game birds such as grouse?

Got a fast strike blind at the end of last season. Looking for tips, or lessons learned. We typically do walk in hunts, in marshes or standing water, in places where you can’t trim brush and use it in the blind. What are you guys using as cover? What do you prep beforehand? Thx!
