This was a fun cover me and my band did on our last show. I even played the intro using the original samples on the octopad. That damn missed hi hat before the bridge/guitar solo still bugs me tho.

Combination Cymbal Stands

Does anyone know of such a thing as a combination cymbal stand that can be either a straight or boom stand? I've thought it would be quite useful occasionally.

Lessons for 4.5 year old

I know this is probably been asked before and I don’t know if this is the right sub, but my son is asking for drumming lessons. He has one of those toy electric drum sets that he plays with all the time. How do I go about finding somebody that knows how to deal with a child his age, who can have the patience and the ability to make it fun for him? I live in Miami Florida.

Again, my apologies if this is the wrong sub for this type of question. Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If this isn’t welcome, you are free to delete it, but there is a drummer, great studio drummer and instructor, who is at risk of losing his Achilles tendon. This is how he makes a living. If you are able to spread the word or donate, it is very much appreciated.

The video is obviously not the real recording, but the recording itself is one single take.
Quite busy/sweaty song, but real fun to play.

I snuck the Smells Like Teen Spirit fill into my band's latest song

I played the fill once during a rehearsal as a joke, but the singer and guitarist liked how it sounded so they insisted on me keeping it in, so I did. My band's name is Wayeiya, we are a chilean alt metal act. The song is called "Cerebro", it is unreleased.

So… how do you actually play along with songs as a beginner?

As the title says, i am a complete beginner, rhythm and limb independence isnt my strong suit but for years i have wanted to play the drums so now i got myself a nice little setup. Almost everyone i listen to says to start with rudiments but to also play along to songs and have fun. That sounds great and after a 30 minute rudimentary basics lesson i turned on some nirvana to try and jam to. It was so awkward and i had no idea what to do. So my question is… is there any way i can bet better at “feeling the song” and make drumming to music fun and also productive? Thanks

Open jamsession beginner tips

Hi all! We’ve got quite some open jamsessions happening in my area and I’m looking for some tips to get better at playing along.

I got some tricks up my hat but that’s just playing at home. I kind of feel like I’m going to be uninspired and get stuck to just playing the moneybeat with basic variations. I’d like to get a bit more comfortable and practice specifically to feel more comfortable.

Sooo, asking you:
What are grooves ‘n beats one should really know?
Any typical songs in different styles that could help?
Any videos/tabs or other helpful things to watch?
Anything else one should be aware of, a part from “just have fun”? 😆

Thanks 🙏

Tips for improvement on Math Rock

So I LOVE math rock music and my band is pulling influences from math rock so I wanna get better at drumming on this genre. What should I work at and look at/exercises I can do to improve on this. My big issue right now is I have low limb independence between my feet and hands, but also being able to play linear grooves.
