I hope I'm posting this in the right sub. I just wanted to say that... I'm not really sure how to explain it. I struggle with anxiety and racing thoughts a lot and Sunn O))) helps me cope. Like the long droning guitars are so calming. And I can feel my racing thoughts pause for a bit. Especially when I listen in my headphones. It's like a wall of soundwaves that just shuts out all the noise for a while. I hope to go to one of their concerts one day. Thank you so much for reading. It genuinely means a lot.❤️

I have a bass rig set up at my one chair barbershop and make some noise in between clinets. Today's low end shenanigans were Monolord themed.

I'm starting a doom metal project.

I'll be using the SSD5 application for Midi drums in FL Studio. Early experiments are proceeding well!

As long as I'm sequencing, I thought maybe the occasional organ or synth could be cool. In one demo, I've even got a sine wave playing kind of a spooky arpeggio as the song is ending.

I'm fairly new to the genre and I'm wondering how common it is for "electronic" elements to appear in the genre, and how it is perceived in general.

I've heard some interesting elements in the music of "Low Toner".

At the end of the day, I'll probably do what I think serves the song best, but I am just curious about the community's feelings on the incorporation of synthesizers, electronic drums, etc.

AND I'm interested in knowing about artists that might lean into that.

Hello all! I have a weekly Dungeons & Dragons podcast and I also happen to love doom and stoner metal. Are there any doom bands in this sub that would let us use a snippet of one of their songs for a theme song? I think it’s such a rad idea and we will give you credit in every episode description. After a lot of work (and a few months of waiting), the vinyl has finally arrived!

This is the self-titled debut album from Sun Dog, my UK-based solo project. It’s been a long process, especially as some of the songs were written many years ago, but finally holding an album i made, in my hands, on vinyl is an amazing experience!

The digital download is available for free in FLAC, and the album will also be appearing on some of the Doom YouTube channels over the next few days.

So, I'm a guitarist but his wouldn't work so I ended up with a bass, which i tuned down to C and actually plugged it in a guitar amp (I know it's risky). He played drums, but it was his first time. What do you think?

Now don't get me wrong, Dopethrone and Come my Fanatics are great albums and there's no doubt that they are some of the most important albums in doom metal history, that being said there is something just so indescribable about their first album that I can't put to words but it's just awesome, does anyone know what I'm talking about or am I just going crazy?

"Swamp Lords" of Yvon Dek

Yvon Dek is a mostly jungle and swamp covered planet, with the remaining 30% of the landmass at higher elevations consisting mostly of grasslands and mountain ranges.

The swamp lords rule the majority of the planet, overseeing and protecting the wildlife from the occasional super predators, the fearsome Guanagators, and the small tribes of subhumans called Hrogs.

They rarely frequent the higher elevations where a growing population of humanoids seem to be spreading, more advanced and intelligent than the lowland Hrog's. These changes alone would be concerning to the Swamp Lords, but they have seen rising black structures starting to appear, mostly on the Highlands, but also within their swamplands.

They are the guardians of their domain, and they sense a war brewing, so they begin to prepare.

So, not sure where to post this, maybe my fellow doomkopfs can advise:

I need amplification for my vocals for my band, and we're loud! No clean vocals, but it has to compete with open crashes, heavy bass, cracking snares and a 100w roaring guitar amp.

This would fit the budget, the specs look like it would be sufficient, 130 db max, 1400w,but yeah, thats on paper.

What are you guys using, what can you recommend?

Active speakers are preferred, and new as I don't want to spend cash (saved up my Hungarian secundary income). Sm58, no effects, no preamp, xlr in and tgat should do it
