Squamous cell carcinomas?

Hello everybody, looking for opinions, advice, and similar experiences.

Our dog got hit by a car last year and was immediately brought to the vet. No broken bones, just swelling. Crated him for weeks, and for the first few weeks we had to assist him to pee as he couldn't do it himself. He experienced a lot of muscle loss in his back legs during this time and it took months to regain this. He is since doing so much better, can run around and do everything he used to do. However, he still has no control over pooping. It just falls out of him when it's ready.

He has gone to all of his vet visits and they cannot find anything wrong, and to help learn what's wrong with his bowels they only suggest bringing him to get an MRI, which would involve us flying him over to another island as there is no MRI machine on our island. They do not think he is experiencing any pain, although my owner's intuition makes me think otherwise and I think he may have nerve pain and some aches.

He is approximately 6 years old (but rescued so we don't know his exact age), neutered, male, 45lbs, pit mix. I am considering starting supplements, but unsure what I should try. He regularly gets vet checkups and seems in good health otherwise. He just cannot control his poops. I want to see if starting supplements will help strengthen that area and help bring him a little more control.

Breed is a labrador mix. He was being careless with a sharp end of a bone, and injured his gum.

The injury is looking fine but still looks mildly faint on the cut he had. Was really hard to get a photo of my lab but basically it seems healed but I still suspect its too early for the return to Kibbles.

Been feeding him a bit of soft chicken breast and some canned dog food, and used a bit of soaked Kibble but he doesnt seem to like Kibble as much when its soaked.. Loves it otherwise

Would it be too early in this condition to resume Kibbles? Its like his favorite food but I dont wanna see him hurting himself again if its not fully healed yet. Based on what the vet said it should be fine by now but I feel like I need to wait for 3-4 more days..

My 4-year-old Boxer has this spot on the inside of his leg that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. We’re usually pretty good about noticing new bumps or skin issues, and we only noticed this today. We did have an event at home this past weekend which he was free to roam during but worry the it could be stress induced with all the moving parts and people?

Does this look like a hot spot, or something more concerning?

He’s acting completely normal (eating, playing, no limping), and this is the only spot we’ve found.

We still have a few medications from a previous hot spot (Forticept Blue Butter, mupirocin, and cephalexin), but we don’t want to start treating it incorrectly if it’s something else.

Has anyone seen something like this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My lab suddenly started limping a few days ago. We’ve been to the vet twice now for x-rays in 4 days and they can’t figure out what’s specifically causing him to limp. He’s to the point where he will hardly bear any weight on it.
The vet felt all over his leg and paw with no resistance or response. So we are having a hard time knowing exactly what is hurting him.
He’s going on 9 and we know he’s started to have arthritis. This has just been so sudden.
They prescribed a few pain meds for him, but after 4 days, they don’t really seem to be having an effect. They also recommended I buy some green lipped muscles. Any recommendations on the best brand? I prefer to use powder if possible get away from chews because right now he’s also taking dasuquin chews.
He’s not overweight, yet…
Any other suggestions are welcome. We are awaiting a surgical consult in the next few days.

I have a white Havanese (1 year old) and she just stared to get tear stains in June.
This is my routine:
\-Eye comb morning and night
\-Routine baths
\-angle eyes tear satin chews (daily)
\-angle eye wipes (daily)
\-eye envy tear stain remover powder (daily)
I also clean her water and food bowl daily. She eats and drinks out of stainless steal and ceramic and has before without any stains. I also removed chicken from her diet and switched to salmon after they showed up.
Any advice would be appreciated.

My dog had intussusception, due to that and him having surgery he has malabsorbation. He is a Mini Labradoodle, 3 years old and is now weighing 10lbs. I follow closely with his vet and he is on a special dog food, we give him animal biome twice a day, we give him b12 shot twice a week, we give him prebiotic in his water twice a day, we give him a probiotic chewable, we also give him barley and Fiber One cereal in his food.

He is not gaining weight at all! He is a mini labradoodle and should weigh anywhere from 25lbs to 35lbs. Before his surgery he was at 25ish lbs.

What can I give or switch up for my dog to start absorbing his food and start gaining weight. Any help, advice, suggestions or guidance will be very helpful.

Hi there - our two year old Great Bernese is having constant reflux issues in the morning. We feed him some kibble at night, so are fairly certain it’s not connected to empty stomach.

Some research suggests it could be due to needing to move his bowels, as the reflux often occurs before he goes outside for the first time in the morning. Does anyone have experience with or thoughts on this?

Hello! This is the second time this has happened within the same year, our Dog Nibby has her shed hair stuck in her ear.
Nibby is a 9 year old mutt, we know for sure she’s German shepherd and pitbull and she is 95lbs.
We clean her ears maybe once a month as she’s not as waxy and never gets ear infections. However recently I noticed when I’d pet her head she’d cry and shake her head, checked her ears and saw hair that was poking her. I’ve pulled it out before while cleaning and she was fine however I want to know what to do to prevent more hair from going in if possible. Because it’s irritating her I can’t even take a picture.
Whenever I look up anything it’s usually for advice for breeds with the poodle type hair.

I noticed my dog’s underarm/armpit is really red (photos attached). He wears a harness on walks and has environmental allergies. We also recently moved from Tennessee to Texas, so I’m wondering if the new environment could be making his allergies worse.
He seems to be acting completely normal otherwise. Has anyone’s dog had something similar? Did it end up being harness irritation, allergies, heat rash, or a skin infection? Any advice on what to watch for or what helped would be appreciated!

my best friend has a senior dog (he's 11) who's been showing some odd stuff lately and we're both quietly panicking that it might be cancer. She has a vet appointment already set up, but the waiting is killing her and I'm trying to help her stay calm in the meantime.

signs that have us worried:

- small lump near his shoulder that she's pretty sure wasn't there a couple months ago

-dog lost a bit of weight even though his food hasn't changed

-less interested in his walks lately, sleeps way more than usual

-occasionally not finishing his dinner, which is very not him

I know all of these can also be normal aging stuff or a bunch of other things, and I keep telling her that. But she read some stuff online and now every symptom looks like the worst case scenario.

for those of you who've been in a similar spot, which of these signs would you actually take most seriously?

I’m looking for advice while I wait for a vet visit.. I have a 9 year old golden retriever. 2 months ago Milo started having diarrhea and he’s never had this issue before. We had to take him out every few hours or less. We did the bland diet for a week and it still happened. We bought him a fresh bag of food and made sure all of his stuff was clean. We never feed him table scraps. The vet told us to not feed him for 24 hours and it still happened. They finally told us to bring in a stool sample it came back normal but gave us antibiotics just in a case and started him on probiotics. After a few more days everything started going back to normal. Until yesterday it started happening again. Today there was a little blood in it. I know he can get blood from straining or going extra. He is drinking and eating normally and same amount of energy. Could something internally be going on? I don’t think he’s gotten into anything he shouldn’t have. I know he is getting older and this is my first dog. Any tips or advice or something I should be looking into at the vet? I feel like we get brushed off a lot at exams and I want this to be taken seriously if something is wrong with him. Thanks everyone!

I have a 9 year old chihuahua mix, and when I went to the vet they told me I need to get his teeth cleaned. I’ve gotten them cleaned years ago and it was like $800 I think. I’m in a different financial situation now and I certainly cannot afford this.

I brush his teeth 3-5 days a week and he chews on these rawhide bone things (not really rawhide) called Dingos. He won’t chew any of those teeth cleaning bones, because he’s a chihuahua and very picky.

They said his teeth might start falling out and not cleaning his teeth may lead to gum disease and they may have to pull out teeth.

don’t know what else to do!?!! Any suggestions? This dog is my entire universe but I just can’t afford this.

T/W: scars, medical gaslighting (trust me it's relevant)

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I have multiple chronic illnesses so my drs already think I'm a hypochondriac 😭, and I dont wanna go to ai for advice

My boyfriend has 2 dogs. Both very hypo, one more than the other. Wherever you are hurting (e.g., body part is in pain, feels unwell, etc.) the dogs will jump on, sniff, etc.

I had surgery 6 weeks ago for endometriosis. My scars have closed over and everything seems good. There are no more stitches poking thru the skin, etc. However, one of the dogs was going crazy today and was jumping all over me and jumped up to my belly button and scratched right where the scar is. And obviously, belly buttons are open holes that you can put stuff in (hence them going in through the belly button for endometriosis surgery). The dogs also love to step in all kinds (including faeces 😭)

I washed where she scratched immediately and rinsed it out, etc., but I sometimes get overly worried about medical things (likely because of all my medical gaslighting trauma when things were a medical problem but fobbed off lol). So it's probably nothing, and as far as I can see, she hasn't broken any skin. There is an extra mark next to the scar that wasn't there before (i don't think but now idk)

Any advice would be appreciated xoxo

Conclusion: dog scratched my scar, am I safe from infection?

My four-year-old retriever mix (60 lbs) has been experiencing worsening hair loss across her back, along with ongoing itching. The area appears to be getting larger.

It started in May, then seemed to pause for a while, but the hair never grew back. She has now started biting at the area again, and my parents believe the hair loss is spreading.

She has been examined by our regular vet. Her bloodwork was normal, including testing for thyroid and other endocrine issues. She also tested negative for fleas, mites, and other parasites.
The vet prescribed a medicated shampoo, but that has been the only treatment so far. Their theory was that it may have been caused by seasonal allergies or an allergic reaction to a bite.

I am currently away for three more days, and my parents are caring for her. She is otherwise acting normally. The area does not seem painful, but it is itchy.

What would typically be the next diagnostic steps in a case like this? I understand that no diagnosis can be made online. I am mainly trying to understand what questions to ask our vet and whether this sounds urgent enough for her to be seen before we return. Thank you in advance for any advice!!
