In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the album Periphery III: Select Difficulty, here’s a cover of “The Way The News Goes…” done from scratch by me and u/ihsncs (on instagram).
All the instruments are done by us, no stems were used in the process.

This cover took lots of time and effort and we would really appreciate it if you could watch it, the support means a lot.

Thank you.

Discussion Wholesome djent

I'm trying to make a wholesome djent playlist.

I would like recommendations/reminder of the most beautiful songs we have in the genre (DJENT IS NOT A GENRE HAHA LOL *jk*).

For the moment I've got After the Burial, Elitist, Plini, Volumes, Elitists(I really love early djent).

I'd really appreciate. Also any modern recommendations or anything new is appreciated!!

Thank you!

Edit: I'll check every recommendation during the following days. You guys are awesome!! I didn't expect to have so much recommendations.

Sorry if my english is bad since I'm spanish, I do what I can.

I'll be checking songs during this days and I'll share the playlist at the end, you guys deserve it.

I can't check them all right now but I'll be defenitly be listening them out during the following days!

Thank you so much srsly!

After S.E.A. broke up, Zack went on to make 3 tracks for a project called Killtrox and the Motherships. This version is a guitar playthrough, but the official release has Micah from Oh, Sleeper on vocals. Wish Zack didn't stop making music :( I miss his band (In Theory) the most.

Discussion Best drum vst for making custom double kick drums?

I've gotten the daw(reaper + cubase) and my 7 string better well down to the point I'm looking at my next venture which is programming drums.

I don't mind using grooves but for some chugs where i'd like to place the kick + snare at what are some good vst plugins for drums that don't break the bank. Excuse me from being a newb I'm entering a new world coming from amps for 15 years. I'm open but of course user friendly is recommending. I'm on windows 11 nvidia 4060 16g with i7-12700KF and 32g ram

Discussion Is there music like Mick Gordon’s Defect OST?

I know defect isn't out and won't be for a while but his music from this video got me going crazy. Is there any music with the same feel as this? Something like techno djent, argent core, or mainly downtempo industrial dubstep?

Guitar Clip Our band played DOOM 2016 and Eternal OST music live on stage!

Well... after what felt like an eternity, the footage from our live DOOM performance at GameOn Live 2025 (Vilnius, Lithuania) finally escaped the vault.

The video quality is questionable, the audio is very much "recorded at a live event," and YouTube compression definitely joined the fight too — but besides that it was fun as hell!

Getting to play Mick Gordon's DOOM soundtrack live was an absolute dream, so I figured maybe some of you might appreciate it.

I hope you enjoy!

Discussion ISO a vocalist

Hi, never posted in here before, but I’ve been working on some tunes and looking for a vocalist for a small 6 song release. Nothing too serious. We can discuss splits and everything. The sound is relative to HLB and other bands of that realm. If interested send me a dm and I can hook you up with some demos.

Self Promo Shallow Retrospection - Roots Below feat. Casey Tyson-Pearce of Angelmaker

My new track features Casey of AngelMaker! My crazy full story of this collab below!

I became a fan of the band in 2016. In 2020, I entered and won a competition for a vocal cover of the song "BLOODTHIRSTER" promoting their second album. As part of the prize, I performed the same song live with the band on stage in Wrocław in 2023. In 2025, my second band Violent Answer was given the opportunity to perform as support at two Angelmaker concerts in Poland in Warsaw and Poznań. Now, the Casey, Canadian band's vocalist has accepted an invitation to perform a guest verse on the Shallow Retrospection song. It's one of my top music related stories. I'm really proud that I pulled this off. Huge respect to Casey and Angelmaker squad. Love you guys forever <3

Discussion Guitars sound thin and hollow in the mix, struggling to get width and fullness without synth layers, feedback appreciated

Hey guys, so I've been making metal/post hardcore beats for a while now and I've noticed a pretty frustrating pattern. When I have synths, pads and layers going alongside my guitars everything sounds wide and full. But whenever I try to make something more guitar focused. like the guitars are actually carrying the track, it just sounds thin and hollow and I can't figure out why.

I'm using Odin 3 by Solemn Tones which is a VST guitar, not real guitar, into a Fortin Cali Suite. Double tracked, one left one right, different mic positions per side so the round robins aren't identical. Velocities randomized too.

My amp EQ looks like this:

  • 65Hz: -12dB
  • 125Hz: -4dB
  • 250Hz: -2.4dB
  • 500Hz: 0dB
  • 1kHz: -2.7dB
  • 2kHz: +0.5dB
  • 4kHz: +1.6dB
  • 8kHz: +1.4dB

After the amp they go to a guitar bus with some light compression, that's pretty much it.

Here's the track I'm struggling with: https://on.soundcloud.com/3Ve5lCnr9CjmB2s6O7
Here's one of my tracks where the mix sounds fuller due to synths so you can hear the difference: https://on.soundcloud.com/lvki01DZ4ry5AwmePs
Reference of what I'm going for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIz3bWr2gaI&list=RDJIz3bWr2gaI&index=2

Honestly not sure if it's my amp settings, my approach to EQ, the VST itself, or just the fact that I've always leaned on synths to fill out the sound and never really learned to make guitars work on their own. Probably a bit of everything lol.

Any help appreciated, especially if you have experience with Odin 3 or similar VST guitars. Cheers
