Happy 10 year anniversary to the Sofia The First spinoff series Elena Of Avalor. It's a show that definitely takes what made Sofia great, and goes even further.

She was a major recurring character in the first two seasons, but only had a handful of speaking appearances in Season 3‚ only made two speaking appearances in Season 4 and didn't even show up at Bob and Ana's wedding, and only one speaking appearance in Season 5. Why did she fade into thd background? Was her voice actress unavailable?

For the past few days, you'll have come across the news of a new preschool show in collaboration with Disney Junior, Ozzy Fox. However upon this news, it has received heavy backlash for "using AI" leading to many left in confusion and anger.

Ozzy Fox's animation is being handled by Animaj, whom you might recognise with their previous works such as Pocoyo, Maya the Bee, Rabbids Invasion etc.

The show is produced by human animators as well as their AI tool. The tool in question is their very own sketch-to-motion tool. To put it simply, the storyboard artist produce sketches for the characters and their movement and their AI sketch-to-motion software matches the character rigs to the sketch as accurately as possible to increase workflow.

The part that annoys me is that whenever the word "AI" appears in a sentence once, everyone jumps the gun and claims it's "slop". I understand that generative AI is increasingly improving by the day and people should definitely be concerned, especially the animators and artists behind them. But we have to realise that AI tools are there to give them an easy time and keep projects complete within deadlines at its best quality.

But if you think about it, Disney Junior has been in a weird state as of late. And it all links back to their social media especially their YouTube channel. First it was acquiring Gracie's Corner, a popular kids nursery rhymes YouTube channel and now Ozzy Fox exclusively on YouTube. They recognise that kids in these days don't watch the channel anymore but are more inclined to watch their content on their social media and Disney+. Afterall, their YouTube channel has almost 30 million subscribers compared to Disney Channel's 5 million subscribers.

The takeaway from all of this is a "never judge a book by its cover" type bit, but it's something to take note moving forward. Ozzy Fox seems like a harmless show and I imagine it wouldn't get this much hate had it not been supported by Disney. So don't worry, the fight for AI slop and genuine creativity continues and Ozzy Fox is one of the many that hangs in genuine creativity.

This review of Sofia The First: Royal Magic has a very interesting line about Sofia's character that got me thinking a lot:

"It could also come from writing her more like a little girl like in the earlier seasons, and thus a bit more prone to messing up, unlike how the later seasons emphasized her maturity, and made her mess up much less. I remember sometimes hearing a complaint about how she got too mature in the later seasons, and was more like a mini adult."

When looking at the Royal Magic episodes we have so far, it's interesting to see how we have episodes like "Abracadazzle" and "The Lilygnome" that have scenes of Camilla and Layla being the ones to guide Sofia. I think it's definitely quite interesting given how you never really saw much in the original series of other kids guiding Sofia towards a better solution. She's usually the one acting as a mediator for her peers, and solving everyone else's problems. You usually don't have her peers try to correct her and guide her on the right path when she has a problem. That line about her being a mini adult in later seasons of the original series makes me wonder if actual fans of the franchise think this of her.

Hey everybody, longtime lost media fan here. Was going through some old tapes my Grandpa recorded for me when I was a kid. Finally got a VHS player again last year and went back to relive the memories.

This show was on Playhouse Disney alongside the original version of Higglytown Heroes. Viewers were asked to vote for their favorite pilot, which would then become a fully show. Higglytown Heroes obviously won, but this one was fun too. I was scared of gorillas as a kid but Marcel was the exception-- he is so adorable!

Could not find much info on this show online, only a few fragments of it. Not even a full page on the Lost Media Wiki! I'm not too skilled with computers, so thankfully my friend Tim digitized the old tape so I could share this online. I hope other people remember this cute little show.

Grandpa has been gone for 20+ years now, very thankful he took the time to record my favorite shows for me when I was little. Thinking of him as I post this

And I kinda forgot about Electro's little guitar solo from the season 2 Christmas special...
