This isn't a post we enjoy writing, but we wanted to be upfront with you all.

Running the Preserve is a labor of love — 180 acres, multiple courses, and a lot of daily work to keep it in shape for everyone who comes out to play. That takes real time and real money, and this season the numbers just aren't adding up the way they need to for us to keep operating sustainably.

A big part of that is that we're seeing a lot more unpaid rounds and some property issues (attempted theft of baskets and discs) than in past years. We get that most of you play it straight, and we're grateful for that — this post is really just aimed at making sure everyone knows the deal, especially with more people coming through for the doubles event.

Starting today, 7/23/2026, the day pass is going up to $15. We didn't take this lightly, but it's what's needed to keep the lights on and the courses maintained.

If you're traveling in for the doubles event and want to get some rounds in beforehand or after the event weekend, the day pass applies then too — just wanted to flag that so there's no surprise when you show up.

We'll also be honest: a few nights ago, a confrontation over an unpaid round escalated to the point where police had to be called. That person has been banned from the property and removed from the volunteer list for this years event. We don't share that to alarm anyone — it's a rare exception, not the norm — but it's part of why we're asking for everyone's cooperation and support going forward.

We know price increases are never fun to see, and we genuinely appreciate everyone who continues to support the Preserve by paying to play or grabbing a season pass. It makes a real difference in whether we're able to keep this place going — and if that support isn't there, we may not be able to keep the Preserve open next year.

The Paul McBeth Foundation (PMF) has announced Project 6.4 - Ghana, the foundation’s first course installation in West Africa.

The project will bring a free nine-hole disc golf course to Tepa, a community in Ghana’s Ashanti Region northwest of Kumasi. Installation is scheduled for the final week of September 2026.

The course will be located at King Jesus Orphanage & School, an educational campus that serves approximately 300 children each day and includes an established soccer academy. Although the course will be installed on the school’s property, once completed it will be open to the public, making it the first free permanent-basket disc golf course currently available in West Africa.

Maybe one of the most scenic courses in Norway. Located in Rjukan in Tinn municipality in Telemark County next to the massive Gaustatoppen mountain (1884m). Well worth the trip.

Over the past few days there have been many posts about the 2026 USWDGC in Salt Lake City. One organization that deserves a large share of the recognition for the success of the event is local non profit ElevateUT and Scott Belchak.

In three short years ElevateUT has:
Built several new courses
Raised Capital for improvements to existing courses in disrepair.
Hosted many sanctioned leagues
Hosted a major disc golf event
Established relationships with local sports tourism offices.
And so much more……

It is worth looking at the model that Scott and Elevate UT have created in Utah for success in other areas.

This is mostly on my own self image, but I recently had a long stay in hospital with heart issues, pneumonia and diabetes not helping out. I have changed my lifestyle and instead of being on the verge of death I am doing really well. I am 63 years old. I decided a fun way to get my exercise in was to play disc golf (I live about one mile from a course). However, a few years ago I had rotator cuff surgery and after a couple of rounds my shoulder really ached. I did not want to injure it. So I have switched to just throwing light, plastic frisbees. Are you looking at me on the course and thinking I'm some stupid, ignorant person who is too dumb to know those are not legal discs? For me, this exercise is life or death. Sometimes I feel like I have to explain it to people.

I didn't think Eagle L's are this old, and it does not look like any Eagles i have. Any ideas?

Hey everyone. I’m currently 820 rated and I am apart of the NC State disc golf team. This upcoming fall semester I want to improve my game. Usually whenever I have a field day I practice putting from 25 ft for 15 minutes and then it’s max distance throws for about 30 minutes. I really want to get better at putting and my throwing accuracy with both my backhand and forehand. I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to implement a good field day regiment, how many days a week I should be practicing, and what kinds of drills I should be doing to help me improve.

This year’s Preserve Doubles Championship lineup is shaping up to be something special.

The anchors are going in, and the brand-new Preserve Black Bear layout will be open to the public next week. We’ve made a lot of changes this year, and it’s set to be the most challenging course we’ve ever built.

We can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks—whether you’re making the trip to play it yourself or tuning in for the live coverage.

What teams are everyone most excited to see?

I’m 18 years old, and want to get my name out there and start a disc golf shop. Obviously it’s not feasible to buy a store, but where do I begin? I’m about to go to college in the fall as well so it puts me in a tough spot. I thought about starting with WhatNot, and selling discs there. I’ve also thought about starting the disc golf club at my college (UW-Eau Claire), and finding ways to sell discs to people there. Maybe I could sell discs through local events as well. I’m lost as to where to start, and just wanted to post to see others’ ideas. Thanks!

This is a lite version of my Pitcher Pack that a lot of people were asking for. It removes a lot of the extra pockets that most players do not need to save time, material, and cost. The pack still retains the water bottle holders, sturdy tie down/clipping points, removable straps, and 18 disc capacity.

This is also a great option for anyone looking to haul 12 discs and still have space for their jacket, snacks and beverages in the middle of the pack.

It's made from 13.5 oz waxed canvas and now features a 1200D Cordura bottom panel for added durability. The seams are sewn with B92 UV bonded polyester along with heavy duty polyester webbing to resist degradation in the sun. The weight comes in at 1lb 15oz or 875g, which is super light for a backpack.

The packs are designed, patterened, and sewn by me in my fabric studio. All work is guaranteed for life, and I will repair or rebuild damaged bags should they need it. Custom and made to order options are also available for a small mark up.

Starting to really work on having a forehand that's more than just a Berg upshot.

What are your favorite forehand discs in each speed class?

Mainly a forehand player but I’m attempting to develop a backhand for certain shots, aside from cleaning of my form I need some suggestions on the best slightly understable backhand control drivers. Something around a 7 speed preferably. I throw a lot of the F2 right now but I’m looking for something with a little less fade at the end of its flight path.

I'm constantly switching in and out discs, but this is what I've been playing with recently. Max drive RHBH 423' RHFH 430'. Really enjoy the hand feel of MVP/Axiom/Streamline discs. Range and Stasis are red and blue because I'm still trying them out to see what I like more because the berg felt off in my hand. reactors green because I picked one up and am just trying it, probably won't stay. Have been putting with proxy's as of late because I want to transition my envy's to throwing putters. Should add something like a raptor? any other suggestions?

Question for any Fort Collins locals, how far is hole 12? I’m visiting but managed to get the eagle this evening on my round. Course signage has it at 468ft, but UDisc has it at 557ft. Anyone know what it actually is? Secondly, hole 1, par 3 on course signage, par 4 on UDisc, which is it?

I’m looking into a practice basket and typically the cheapest ones are 70$ on Facebook which isn’t bad. For me however, I’m just a college student working part time so that’s not really what I should spend money on. I believe I have the supplies (my dad has*) to build a decent basket. We have metal poles about the right size, 5 gallon bucket to fill with concrete as a base, and I would build the band and basket primarily from wood. As far as chains go, if I want to use nice chains I might aswell buy a whole basket for that cost. So I may have to try rope/cords or test the durability of plastic chains and I think I could get the cost down to about 30$.

ALL THIS TO SAY, does anyone else have a basket that they made themselves, and have any advice for me?
