Tobias and Stewart are directly being replaced by John Collins and Paul Reed and whether they are better or not individually they have different strengths and impact certain areas better than the other undoubtedly.

For Tobias and Collins its the finishing, rebounding and block rates

Tobias shot 59% at the rim last season with a higher ast’d% than Collins who shot 75% on more volume and dunked the ball 4x more than Tobias did

Collins for his career has a 8% ORB to Tobias’s 3.5

Their career block and steal % are 1.5 and 1.3 for Tobias and 3.0 and 1.1 for Collins

He may not be a better player than Tobias overall bc of other issues but on this team he can bolster their strengths in these areas more than Tobias did.

For Stewart and Reed it’s the rebounding and the steal rate.

Lineups that included Stew last year were worse defensively because they were bad at defensively rebounding and weren’t forcing turnovers as much. So he was getting blocks

Stewart himself has an insanely low steal rate at just 0.4 per 75

Paul Reed is unique in that he is the best big at getting his hands on the ball in the entire league and it’s not even close.

Among Forwards or Centers he led them in steals rate even over guys like Kawhi and Ron (Ausar was listed as a guard)

He was the only player in the entire league with a 3.0 block per 100 and 3.0 steal per 100 and he’s the only player to do it twice in the last 4 seasons.

He also held a 18% DREB and a monster 15% OREB(led the team) in comparison to Stewart’s 13% DREB and 7% OREB

Levert should be one of clearest examples of addition by subtraction ever. He was signed to be offensive help and was instead one of their worst offensive players like pretty clearly. Surprisingly good on defense though.

The halfcourt offensive rating dropped a whopping 10 points with him on. Comfortably the worst among anybody that play real minutes. He had multiple months where he and Daniss basically terrorized the bench’s offense.

Being able to replace those minutes with Isaiah Joe(one of OKC’s best HC players) and Okorie minutes is a godsend by itself and will help turnover economy and efficiency both things Levert was terrible at positively impacting.

Whether it translates into the postseason will be a question until it does but regular season they have a formula that will work

Just thinking about this today.

We salary dumped Stew and Sasser to clear $20m off the books.

And then we let Tobias walk who was getting paid $26m per year.

When that happened, I expected they were creating flexibility for a reason.

Of course something big still can happen, even if it at the deadline, but as more time has passed I’m wondering why they salary dumped Stew, who was a premium back up big on a reasonable contract, and Sasser who was a cheap option we actually used in the playoffs.

I’m having a hard time understanding why that was necessary and would love to hear your thoughts outside of the vague explanation of “trust in Troy” oh… wait, Langdon!

Yes it’s early, no the roster isn’t finalized, but screw it, I wanna hear what YOU Nostradamuses expect to happen next season. Could be anything: win total, a player’s breakout season, hot or cold takes, etc. Call your shot!

Let me be clear, I base this on zero “inside” information, just a hunch.
The tv commentators are raising eyebrows now over the Duren deal not being done, but I think the interested parties may want to see where LeDramaQueen goes before they plot their next move.
If he picks Philly or Miami, for example, then Golden State may suddenly look less desirable to Green, who is unrestricted (and likes Detroit). DeRozan could be a logical Plan B for some teams, and maybe Strus becomes more available because of Cleveland’s cap challenges. So it’s possible that either Duran or the Pistons or both want to wait to see the pieces fall into place before they lock up a deal.
The Pistons have set themselves up with a lot of flexibility, and it seems like smart business to see if any useful stray parts become more available once the Diva decides where to take his talents this time.
I could be wrong about this, but I think the time to panic has not yet arrived….

I don’t know if you guys remember me or any of the concepts I been doing for the past couple years but I was responsible for the Spirit of Detroit concept that’s been floating around and even though I wasn’t called by the Pistons, I got a message from a small company that takes concepts and bring them to life and they along with all of you helped me achieve something I never thought I could do before. The Holland slander has gone too far.

Hollands offensive limitations are apparent and often spoken, while his strengths (transition offense and defense) basically go unappreciated by the NBA fandom at large.

Him playing 20 mpg for us when his skill set is extremely redundant to our roster is a testament to just how valuable his skills are.

He’s only 20 years old and is an elite athlete yet communities like NBA_draft don’t even have him top 15 in a redraft, below guys like Jamal Shead and Ryan Dunn, it’s ridiculous.

I understand that this is one interaction but I feel like he’s scarcely mentioned among his already weak draft class.
