Hey, i am about to start a detailing business with a friend, i plan on having it as a side hustle till it grows. But I also want to know if i could potentially have this as a my main job for the rest of my life once it gets big enough. I know I’ll make it i have the patience and will put in the work needed to improve if it means i can do this for a living.

Just got my brand new crown debaged and it left these spots on the paint where it’s showing the old emblems. It’s honestly annoying me. I cleaned the area and all. On one of the pictures it even looks a bit like clear coat overspray. What products and what can I use to remove and make it all smooth.

I'm talking about 4 posts into cement into the ground. Some sort of roof and walls and a solid ground. How much did it cost you? It'd be for my personal car.

please no judgement, i've been having a rough go of it with my depression recently. i've also had a really weird cough (ominous foreshadowing) for the past week, but i started feeling better today so i decided to finally clean my car out. i suspect a coffee cup spilled and i just didn't notice/care, cause after i got all the trash out of the way i found a napkin covered in what looked like dirt?? and im super smart so i brought it to my face and smelled it. smelled like a whole lot of nothing, so i tossed it. reached the bottom and realized it wasn't dirt, it was mold. maybe that's what's been causing my cough, i guess! it's orange and green and brown and FUZZY. i'm just at a loss for what to do now. i can't afford to get my car cleaned by a professional. what do i even do in this situation? right now ive taken out the cover thing cause that's also made of carpet cause it was covered in the stuff. it's just sitting in my driveway. i rolled down all my windows to hopefully air it out somehow?? idk man, i have no idea where to start here. i also can't just not drive it, i have work and i live in the middle of nowhere so getting a ride or uber or ANYTHING isn't really doable.

when i look into mold in cars online, it brings up cars that clearly have some kind of ventilation issue with mold everywhere. i feel like cause mines a smaller patch for a very specific and obvious reason, it should be easier to deal with. i just don't know how. i've looked throughout the car, it's nowhere else. there's no issue causing mold here, it's just my own dumb fault.

Is there any chance that placing business flyers under cars wipers will lead to any negative perceptions (due to annoyance) in the UK. Trying to push out my headlight restoration business using flyers (putting them on cars with dull headlights/peeling clear coats) and was wondering if it would result in more annoyed people than potential customers? Has anyone had any similar experiences before?

I'm trying to really step up my car care game and was going through all my old products & tools to purge the crap. For some reason, I have four bottles of Armor All Original Protectant spray. 🤷‍♂️ I also have a bottle of Turtle Wax Inside & Out Protectant. As I'm sure everyone knows, both of these products are pretty oily/greasy and leave a shiny gloss.

My question... Is there any good use for these products so I don't have to toss them in the trash? Could I use them as a tire dressing just to use them up? Or maybe in the engine bay on the engine cover and other plastic parts? I was even trying to think of anything around the house they might be useful for. I originally bought the Turtle Wax product to protect vinyl hot tub covers from sun damage, but I no longer have a hot tub.

First time car owner here went to a car wash and noticed this after (no my car was not very dirty) and am deviated. They lay flat on the paint and you cannot feel them. Is there any way to get these out? If so how and what can I use? I am scared to make it worse so any advice or help is appreciated!

Do you ever contact them again later, or do you mostly wait for them to come back?

Should I start with clay bar or try a polish first?

For insight this is on my wife’s 2026 Chevy equinox I’ve tried cleaning it with my pre-wash. I’ve also tried wheel tire cleaner and water spot remover and the spots are still there. Am I just doing something wrong?

Hey everyone. I’m taking delivery on a new car this fall and have heard from nearly everyone that the best way to protect it is with PPF + ceramic coat. Since the car will be parked outdoors (garages are uncommon in my neighborhood), the ceramic seems especially important for bird and tree “deposits.”

I’d like to go for a full-body Xpel stealth PPF, but the sticker shock is real. I was originally planning to have the Xpel installer also do the ceramic coat, but now I’m considering doing it myself to save some money. Is this a mistake? If I can find myself a garage space to spend a few hours in, is this a manageable task? Does it get easier or harder when applying to a matte PPF rather than directly to gloss paint? Is there a specific ceramic coat product I should use in this case?

Any insight, tips, warnings, or lessons learned are much appreciated. I’m new to this whole realm of car care…I just grew up with the carnauba wax on wax off method.

My friend brought out a red micro fiber towel, and began using it on the rear of my car, and some pink staining came out and it won’t come off easily. Is there anything I can do to get it off ?

I recently bought an M4 in tanzanite blue and the bodywork had a lot of swirls, scratches and hologramming etc, which is sad because it’s such a gorgeous colour. I took it to my local detailers and was quoted £1200 to sort it out, I decided I’d rather give this a go at home first. I spoke to a couple people who just said “just pay the £1200 love, you’ll burn through your paint” love being a woman 😂 (also, I didn’t burn through my paint… winner).

This is the process I went through:

1. Citrus prewash
   
2. Snow foamed
   
3. Shampooed
   
4. Autoglym Magma as fallout remover
   
5. Clay barred
   
6. Cut with Meguiars ultimate compound
   
7. Polished with Stjarna Gloss’s Skära
   
8. Wax with Meguiars Carnauba.

I’ve posted my results (I don’t have a garage/unit so apologies for the reflections in the photos), and also a comparison video of the swirls in the door compared to the rear quarter during the process (one video in comments)

I’ve got some deeper scratches that I don’t think are going to come out with the compound and polish I have - should I be looking into something harsher?

Overall, I’m pretty happy with the results, it looks 10x better than it did, but it’s not perfect.

Basically I’m just asking for any tips to make the finish even better (at home), or anything you’d change in the prep etc!

Hey Y’all. I’m working on a black Jeep Gladiator for the first time. It’s super hammered with scratches, swirls & water marks.

I’m having a super hard time getting rid of the haze from the compounding step. I was just seeing if anyone has worked on this kind of truck before & if you guys got any advice. I’ve never had this problem this bad.

I did a compounding step with Adams Polishes Blue Compound with their microfiber cutting pad & finished with the softest finishing pad that I have with Adams Polishes White Polish.

I usually have my polisher between settings 5-6 for the compound set then for the polishing step I usually have it at about 5. I looked up on ChatGPT & it said to set the polisher speed lower which I did & it did nothing. Any help & advice would be much appreciated.

Also, this is only really happening on the plastic fenders.

did a rinse on this panel on the left and then applied a small amount of undrdog waterspot remover on a microfiber towel, lightly covered the panel, and then after 30 seconds, rinsed and wiped off with another dry microfiber towel (both were brand new out of the package) and now it’s like there is a dullness left behind? Tried washing again with regular boat wash, and also using ceramic glass cleaner. Nothing has changed.

I'm building a new garage 30*50 with three garage doors, including a dedicated wash bay in canada where we have winter pretty much 6 month of the years.

I'm currently planning the drainage system. My idea is to install a French drain (probably 1 of each side of the car) connected to a catch basin in every bay, with everything tied into a sump pump that would discharge the water outside the garage in a dry well.

Does anyone have a similar setup? What has your experience been? Do you like the french drain?

• Pros and cons?
• Does it work well in the winter with snow, ice, and road salt?
• Looking back, would you build it the same way, or would you choose a traditional floor drain instead?

I’m not sure what to use on these, they’re metal wheels on a kenworth truck. I’m in charge of washing a fleet of these, but I’m not sure what to use on the wheels. All I’ve tried is KC multistar at 1:10

I’m getting ready to use 3D Speed with a Chemical Guys TORQX DA polisher.

I have:
Hex Logic White polishing pad
Hex Logic Orange cutting pad

Will the white pad work well with 3D Speed, or is there a better pad you recommend? My paint only has light swirl marks, so I’m looking for light correction and a good finish. Thanks

Good afternoon everyone, I’ve been trying and failing on removing these weird stains that appear on my glass in the mornings.

I took my car to a drive through car wash (lack of time while living alone in an apartment) and every morning when the condensation covers my car I get these stains EVERYWHERE on every piece of glass of my car. I tried both Windex and Invisible Glass with microfibers and, quite literally, nothing changed. I really put in elbow grease with both of them to try and scrub off whatever residue that is to no avail. Wiping them with my wipers makes them fade just enough to see and then they cloud up 10ish seconds later.

The only way they go away is when the sun comes out and bakes my car in the afternoons. They’re not visible until they get wet but they dry pretty quick when the Sun is out.

I don’t want to keep buying random cleaning products to gamble on a fix. It’s incredibly difficult to see out my car in the mornings because of it but I have no idea what to do. Has anyone here seen this before and know what I should do?

Just got assigned 7 26 foot box trucks and a wax needs to be applied. What would you recommend for a job of that size? There’s also vinyl lettering on the side. I’m also working in 102 Texas degree weather with limited access to shade.

what’s some good lighting set up for paint correction? i been looking into scan grip and next led, both look good but since i work in a not so illuminated area i’d like something that covers up a bigger area, i’ve had an eye on set ups like Dr. Shine’s and precision detailing at Instagram but i haven’t been able to figure out what’s the name on these lights, any suggestions help or anything that gets me close to choosing an option would be appreciated !
