Polishing 24 ct Desert Eagle

Post image
29 Upvotes

So I’m buying this desert eagle second hand for an incredible deal. It would be a good deal if it was not gold. The finish is not as shiny as it was from the factory, is there a way to polish the finish and bring back the factory shine? Thanks. Sorry to sound like an idiot but this will be my first gold gun 😂

Rimless .357/44 mag for reliability

Would chambering a desert eagle in something akin to .44 AMP or a similarly rimless magnum handgun cartridge fix the reliability problems with .357 and .44 magnum desert eagles? Seems like the majority of problems that aren’t shooter error or bad ammo are caused by shooting rimmed cartridges in an autoloader. My .50 AE MK VII always functioned perfectly with hornady and freedom munitions loaded ammo (except for limp writing on the first round) but the .357s and .44s I’ve shot have always been hit or miss.

Desert Eagle slide milling

I saw a PewView and Admin Results collab that featured a desert Eagle with an ACRO on the rear slide. Any one have any idea who can do this? It sounds kinda weird as there are already rails on the forward slide

Asking for me

Just got my gun license; I hear horror stories about people who never shot a handgun who go straight into high calibers and hurt themselves. I want a desert eagle; is it recommended or useful for first time users? Or should I go all the way and say fuck it?

One deep cleaning, cold bluing, and oil bath afterwards.

got offered one in a trade, noticed it was posted here already. But Called into MR. its a 07/1997 saco defense producted 44mag. Left factory as an oxide finish. Wanted it to look not so starved for oil and did a complete teardown and blued the frame and slide (caseys cold blue), and gave it a synthetic 10w30 oil bath. replace the extractor spring as it was just a legacy polymer puck with an AR spring. and while it doesn't angerly kick out my amazon steel dummy rounds. it will send spent brass flying. I really can't wait to pump rounds through it. but waiting on a calf muscle spasam to heal up before i do-so.

Will a MK XIX Barrel fit on a .50ae MK VII Slide and Frame?

I know there are compatibility issues between MK variants because it wasnt until MK XIX that all the smaller calibers were standardized to the same larger slide/barrel size of the .50ae guns.

I have an Israel made MK VII in .50ae (confirmed by Kahr) that was built in 1996. If I wanted to do a .44 conversion on it, would a modern MK XIX barrel fit and function considering the MK VII .50's were already larger?

Upper conversion vii to xix

I don't need to do a caliber swap or anything. But to make a long story short:

Slide cracked at gas piston. Ordered new slide from Numrich. Safety didn't fit. Ordered new safety from Numrich. Also did not fit. Contacted MR. They said the slide was a XIX, the frame must be a VII. The MR guy said I could do a conversion- basically build out the new slide, get a new barrel, and it would essentially be a XIX on a VII frame.

So here's my question. How feasible is this? Like I said, no caliber change, 44 mag to 44 mag. I have the stripped slide already. Just need to know what other parts to get to assemble into the slide, and what are the odds it works as intended.

And if any of y'all have any insight, or consolations, I'm happy to take 'em. 😂😭

Dealge Question

Hi all, just found a .44 Desert Eagle at my local gunshop for $1,900 flat out the door. Gun is brand new and comes with the box and everything else. Matte black and stock grips. Is this a good deal? Compared to the magnum research website it seems to be worth it. Thanks for any help!

Anything else i should know or note?

Picking up an L6 .50AE here in a month or two and was curious of what little quirks or features I should be mindful of.

Im very well aware of the size, weight, recoil, ammo cost, dont limp wrist it, dont use exposed lead rounds to prevent gas port clogs, ejection pattern hates you, etc. Anything else im missing or need to keep in mind?

Absolutely buying it because its cool, I want one, I have the disposable income for it now and because I want one.

Happy 4th everyone. Since Ken Hackathorn's thoughts on red dot optics on pistols have been making the rounds again, I figured we'd do a fun one.

Second and third Deagle

Picked up the top one, MKI 357 S/N 7XXX, and the bottom one, MKXIX 44 mag recently. Already had the middle MKVII 50.

According to Magnum Research, with the 357 being a 4 digit S/N they can't say when it was made, but probably a very early Israeli. I got it to resemble the one in Commando.

The 50 is technically a MKVII by S/N made in June of '92, but by design it's a MKXIX. It's stamped the same as the ones in The Matrix; I collect movie guns.

The 44 I got in a trade recently. Kinda disappointed they only make the Muzzle Brake in black, as I was hoping to add it. Since it's brushed chrome, I dunno about cerakoting it. I guess just keep it for now.

I had a MKXIX in 44, black, with the MB, and no fluting years ago but I traded it. I think I'll keep these ones for a while. Kinda wish I had one with the lower picatinny, but not really necessary. For now...

Which color should I get??

The desert eagle is probably going to be my next gun but I can’t decide which color I want to go with.

I love how the chrome looks and it’s an iconic look. The black looks amazing too especially with that gold barrel added to it. I love both looks.

I love both looks equally, I was going to go with the iconic chrome finish but the more and more pictures I see of a black and gold deagle makes me unsure of which one I want to go with. I cannot decide which I like more

I love shooting this thing. Always brings a smile to my face, and usually anyone else at the range too! Just last week I went shooting and brought this little guy. Had a couple kids there with their dad absolutely fangirling over it 😂. Always great to let others try it out.

Help with .44 extractor not extracting.

Post image
14 Upvotes

So at one of my ranges they have a .44 for rent. I’ve hung around long enough and seen enough people use it to notice that it pretty simply does not run.

I did some slow mo on someone renting it to see what was happening. Tldr, it looks like it cant pull the case out, and the extractor slips off. Doesn’t matter if you’re limp wristing or clamping it down like John Wick.

It gets rented out pretty frequently but the range staff will usually say just single load it. Any ideas on what could help remedy it? Occasionally it will succeed in extracting and cycling but not often.

I picked up my first Desert Eagle in April - a .44 Mark VII. Last week I picked up this .357 Mark I. The mags need new springs desperately, they won't even lock the slide open when cycling by hand. My .44 mags will lock it open without issue - at least it's not a broken part. I have springs on the way from Kahr already.

According to Magnum Research, the Mark I was made in May 1989 and the Mark VII was made in August 1993. I took a few phtos of the parts side by side to show the size difference in the .357 and .44 parts.
