Witnessed ducklings ran over by car- heartbroken + need updates
Just now at around 5PM on Jun 26, I was driving on Highway 17 when I saw a duck and all her babies crossing the road. I pressed the brakes but the car in the fast lane didn’t and ran them over. The duck survived, and I saw some of her chicks did, but some of her chicks were killed and there was blood and I saw their bodies. I am so heartbroken over this and was so enraged at the taxi that killed them, and am freaking out. Does anybody have any information on how the ducklings/duck is? I’m super worried the following cars just killed all of the survivors. I’m distraught, please tell me someone knows if they made it off the highway. Please. I’m in tears my heart is absolutely broken those poor little babies and mother please tell me if anybody knows anything the wildlife lines aren’t picking up.

Best Plumbers in Delta?
My parents are ready to renovate their 30 year old washroom. Looking for recommendations on plumbers you've used in the past for your washroom renovation project who did a great job. This isn't a simple replacing of the toilet. It's a full on gutting the existing and getting a new washroom that involves repiping.

Enough Uber in Delta?
Going to Delta for a few days at the end of this month. I will stay in Delta, and the places I need to go are also in Delta.
As its's very expensive to rent a car, I wonder if relying on uber is ok in Delta. Most of the trips I take will be around 5 km. Is it easy to get uber for such short distance?

Cycling repairs
The air pump and tool station for cyclists was recently vandalized and all the equipment was stolen.
This facility is directly adjacent to Delta works yard at the end of 64th st. and hwy.99.
If you are relying on this to be usable during a ride ,take note.

Track at Delta Secondary School (Ladner)
I’ll be visiting relatives in Ladner at the end of July for a couple of weeks. Is the track at Delta Secondary School open to the public, and if so, what times of the day? Thank you.

The Goat Man
Does anyone here remember the old man who lived in a shack with a goat at 80th and 112th back in the day? Rode by there today and was reminded of him. Would love to hear his backstory if anyone knows anything about him.

20% increase in property taxes
Hello,
Did anyone receive their property taxes notice? I just received mine with a 20% increase from the previous year. Is it just me, or did anyone else receive an absurd increase?
Even with property values going down, I am guessing that the cost of services has increased because of inflation?

Shortcut to landfill off Ladner trunk rd and 72st
Is this still accessible to get to the landfill. Signs say no unauthorized traffic but there's never anyone around to enforce it.

16th Ave and 56th Street Curbs - Wasted Tax Dollars
Crews widened the curbs on all 4 corners of the 56th Street & 16th Avenue intersection in Tsawwassen.
Residents were displeased and vocalized their disapproval on the local Facebook group as the new layout would cause a lot of congestion for people trying to leave beach grove. Mayor George Harvie and councillor Daniel Boisvert commented that this was a mistake and will be removed… so wasted tax dollars. They’re trying to play it off as they weren’t aware prior to the work being done but these projects are approved by council.
Residents should keep this in mind as we have a municipal election in the fall. Current Delta Council:
- Mayor George Harvie
- Councillor Rod Binder
- Councillor Daniel Boisvert
- Councillor Jessie Dosanjh
- Councillor Alicia Guichon
- Councillor Jennifer Johal
- Councillor Dylan Kruger

North Delta soliciting
I understand knocking on my door and dropping off a flyer for your business in my mailbox. I’d even be ok with it if my car were parked on the side of the road, but am I overreacting when I say I’ll never step foot in your business if you come onto my private property and touch my car to put your flyer on it? Maybe it’s just me, but I feel that is a step too far. Like an invisible line has been crossed, Idk maybe it’s just me but don’t touch my stuff on my property.

Anyone know of organized or drop-in sports (soccer, (beach) volleyball, hockey) for adults?
Checked delta.ca for sports such as volleyball but all the drop-ins are listed as 12+ and I don't want to be the one weird 21 y/o with a bunch of high schoolers LOL. Looked for the other sports but in general looks like its all in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Langley. If anyone happens to know of any local leagues or drop-ins pls let me know :), not sure if I am looking in the wrong places or what. Thank you for any help!

Mexican Food trucks on Scott and Nordel
Drove past Scott and Nordel and saw 3-4 Mexican food truck in the KFC/Taco Bell parking lot. It was my first time seeing it and I drove by when they were cleaning up shop. Does anyone know how often or where they set up, or if there is a social media page on where they post pop up locations.

Harvie tried to get North Delta more bus shelters. Four councillors blocked it. Let's be clear about that
I've seen some coverage of the November 18 council meeting that glosses over what actually happened with the bus shelter vote, so here's the record straight from the minutes.
Mayor Harvie brought a motion to direct staff to review North Delta transit routes with the highest ridership and identify where new bus shelters could be added. Staff would report back with recommendations for budget consideration. That's it — no spending commitment, just asking staff to look into it.
It was defeated 4–3.
**Voted against:** Kruger, Binder, Johal, Boisvert
**Voted in favour:** Harvie, Guichon, Dosanjh
North Delta has 50 bus shelters. South Delta has 66. Ridership in the southeast sub-region grew 22% between fall 2022 and fall 2023 — the fastest growth in the Lower Mainland. Harvie pointed all of this out. His ask was modest: let staff study it.
Kruger's counter was that the city needs a more "holistic" infrastructure review first. That review could take one to two years by Harvie's own estimate. In the meantime, North Delta riders are standing in the rain.
Kruger did eventually bring his own broader motion on December 2 about "fairness in investment for North Delta," which passed unanimously. But that motion didn't commit to anything specific — and when Harvie tried to amend it to include concrete capital levy commitments for recreation infrastructure, that was shot down too.
Harvie also pointed out that a similar motion by Coun. Johal in June — to study bus shelters in Delta's industrial areas — passed unanimously without any demand for a "holistic review" first. Hard not to notice the inconsistency.
North Delta deserves better than performative motions. Harvie asked for action. Four councillors said wait.

Cocktails & Dreams on Scott Road for 30+ years
This place really stood out for me when I moved here in 1990 because it reminded me of the film Cocktails that had been released only a few years prior. I find it odd that there's nearly no online info about it and yet it's still in business after all this time? It doesn't look like a nice establishement from the outside so I'm looking for the tea on this place. Who can help a girl out??

Does anybody have any info regarding information about this property?
The address is blurred for privacy reasons, I'm very curious as to who owns this residence and as to why it's been empty for over a decade,
