I'm doing my sixth-form EPQ on comics (maybe specifically deadly class, i havent decided yet) and im definitely including Marcus as an example with his hallucinations and general bad mental health. But I was wondering if there is any assumptions on why marcus hallucinates, is because of an underlying condition? Or is it just brought on with PTSD and drugs?

Plus I think the clown he hallucinates is the same clown he saw before his parents died and gave him a balloon he was holding when they died but I don't know if this can be confirmed.

Any suggestions or theories about other characters and their traits like Victor's aggression, shabnam's overall evilness or anything to do with any character would be greatly appreciated.

In episode 2 brandy asks why Marcus, a rat, is in an AP class, so does this mean there's some kind of evil murder college board? And if so would that mean there are also other schools, like some sort of evil bad school district?

Especially the Master Lin storyline.

Also any character deaths in the comic that could've been avoided in the show?

If it had come out today, I feel like it probably would've done a lot better than it did back in 2019.

This show came out when Stranger Things and 80s nostalgia were at their peak. A series that showcased a more cynical, grounded and darker side of the 80s wasn't going to be that appealing to audiences. Now in a post-Stranger Things world, maybe it could've found an audience. But it deserved a better network and marketing, too!

I hopped back into Deafly Class after dropping off years ago, before it ended. Now I’m back on board and I want to see it through. I’ve finished 8, have 10,11 and 12 on there way but in Europe I can get my hands on a reasonably priced 9. All the others are pretty easy to get.

So, I’m rewatching the show again, and I notice something. Marcus picks up a roach by some hippie that passes by in the first episode. However, I’ve begun to wonder if that “hippie” was actually Shandy. I wonder this because the guy who passes Marcus in the alley is dressed similarity, also his height and his walk seems kind of similar to Shandy’s. Even the hair from the back looks similar to Shandy’s. Did anyone else notice this? Could Shandy have been in Marcus’ orbit in the beginning of his involvement with King’s Dominion in the show? Or am I reading too much into this?

I picked up the same Circle K Thirst Buster mug made by Aladdin (the same company known for insulated mugs and lunch boxes). Got some wear on it, but still kinda awesome. :)

The show is available in the Tubi app. I’m in the U.S. and use the app on the iPad, so I’m not sure if it’s applicable to outside the U.S. or not. This show goes from 1 point of the story to the next in literally 1/2 minutes.

Characters know every person’s move without the show showing any indication of communication being passed through and everyone speaks so cryptically. As well as that, this show feels underdeveloped when it hops from one crutch of the story line to the next and why is everyone trauma dumping to everyone they speak with?!?! It’s not every 5 mins that a new character on the show needs to explain their whole life story in 5 one liners.

This show has a lot of potential, don’t get me wrong, but the way it’s played out just doesn’t give it enough depth for me to connect with each character unlike with other shows. Maybe that’s now how it wants to be perceived as but it really jokes on your attention span as a viewer. The fact that I can literally leave the room and come back in 2 minutes or less, I will miss a whole important scene that it feels like I’m watching those Part 1, Part 2 story time TikTok videos. It’s those shows where you can’t even look away for a second before it skips to a whole different angle of the story or moves onto the next character’s original villain arc story.

I like the plot, the theme, the characters. I just think the way it is produced cleverly pokes fun on the attention span of our generation nowadays.

so ever since i first watched deadly class i have hated maria with a passion but when i saw her near the end of episode 8 before Marcus talks about the truth of the boys home and Chester we see maria's boots and the first thing that came to my mind was "I NEED THOSE BOOTS" now the only thing i like about maria are her boots so all i'm asking is it just me or are there others out there who feel the same. (P.S i'm not talking about the actress, i'm talking about the character i know it might get confusing having the actress and the character have the same name)

Hey guys, it's me again. I was reading the comic online and WOW, I stopped at volume 12 when Saya and Marcus reunite in the future. After that, there's just a note that says "to be continued." Is that the definitive end of the comic? I don't know where to find the rest (if there is any).

Just finished the last volume, love the comic but there was one small point that kinda stuck out for me when I first read it: When adult Maria and Marcus are living together and she develops her disease they're completely broke, but how did thet happen? Even assuming she'd lost all her possesions when she ran from the cartel, wasn't he "the world's greatest assassin", and apparently had very high fees? He mentions having money to Saya in...2001, was it? And is active up to 2005, how come he's completely dry by 2006?
