On each generation of PlayStation, and also on all PC versions, it is recommended to close the game fully and also restart your gaming machine regularly. Once per gaming session is probably best. You will always get the best performance from Days Gone if you are restarting your machine often.
For PlayStation specifically, please avoid Rest Mode! I'm not claiming to be an expert but, based on what I've been told so far, keeping the game "sleeping" in the background allows some game assets to build up and eventually cause problems for your PlayStation. For more information on Days Gone and Rest Mode, have a quick look at this Google search
Hope this helps!

I made this a bit back as part of a post response, but I've been asked a few times to actually post this and since /u/SpawnicusRex specifically encouraged it, I figured I would throw this out there as an actual post so the community can more readily find this information.
Note that this information was data mined by me from the game asset files on PC and also verified through play testing. I have revised it a few times for technical accuracy as my understanding of the game files improved. While there is a chance the PS version is different, I don't believe that is likely (as it would be a pain for Bend to maintain totally separate assets). However, if someone verifies something different with proof I will update the list with PS specific information.
It is important to know that many hordes are mission locked (they can also be double locked as is the case with Beaver Marsh Rest Stop or have multiple locks at different times in the game, as is the case with Grotto Caves), so they don't spawn right away even if you go to their spawn locations. There are 41-42 hordes total in the game (depending on how you count), 40 that count towards the Horde Killer questline, and only seven that are available right away. It's also important to know that hordes have multiple spawn locations, which are a hibernation spot (usually a cave or building), a feed spot, and a water spot. Some hordes have quite large roaming areas, so can be frustrating to find (such as the Grotto Caves horde, which goes all the way to the dam lake for their watering point). Generally at night hordes roam to their feed and watering spots, but they can also be at them during the day--especially in cloudy / rainy / snowy weather. Generally they spend the day hibernating. Here is a great map for Days Gone that will give you the horde hibernation spawn locations: https://mapgenie.io/days-gone/maps/oregon. At game start the following seven hordes are immediately unlocked (7):
Cascades
Belknap
The following horde unlocks after you complete the mission It's Not Safe Here where you take Lisa out of Marion Forks (1):
Cascades:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This horde specifically relocks at end game beginning from the For An Outlaw Biker mission where you assault Wizard Island until the secret NERO ending job is completed. So kill this horde before end game unless you want to wait quite a while for it to spawn.
The following hordes unlock when you complete the mission We've All Done Things where you unlock the Lost Lake Region (10):
Cascades
Belknap
Lost Lake
The following horde unlocks after the mission Flow Like Buried Rivers where you take Iron Mike to look at the Metolius Lava Cave horde (1):
Lost Lake
The following hordes unlock after the mission Not Like I Got A Choice where you take Boozer on a NERO mission (2). At this point I would highly recommend clearing every horde you can, as shortly after this point you go on a mission where much of your inventory is lost so use up all of your craftables / found explosives killing hordes before starting the Don't Get Caught mission where you go to Iron Butte with Skizzo (if you have a large inventory of crafted explosives and attractors I would even recommend pre-clearing Saw Mill tactically at this point):
Lost Lake
The following hordes unlock after the mission Riding Nomad Again where you unlock the Crater Lake and Highway 97 regions (5):
Crater Lake
Highway 97
The following horde unlocks after the mission You Couldn't Stop Shaking where you unlock Chemult Community College inside the Highway 97 region (1):
Highway 97
The following horde unlocks after the mission This Could Be It where you capture a newt for Sarah inside the Crater Lake region (1):
Crater Lake
The following hordes technically unlock in Highway 97 after the mission Ascending From The Underworld when you return to Lost Lake after the events at Crater Lake, but will be locked out for some time as you cannot return south until after the mission For An Outlaw Biker where you assault Wizard Island--making them physically inaccessible even if they are spawnable (4):
Highway 97
The following hordes unlock in Highway 97 post-game after the mission For An Outlaw Biker where you assault Wizard Island (5):
Highway 97
Lastly, there are four mission hordes. Three of these are part of the Horde Killer storyline: one at Iron Butte Ranch with 300 freakers (called Keep Them Safe in the Horde Killer Storyline), one at the Saw Mill in Lost Lake with 500 freakers (called I'll Save Some For You in the Horde Killer storyline), and one in Chemult in Highway 97 with 300 freakers (called You Alone I Have Seen in the Horde Killer storyline). The Iron Butte and Saw Mill hordes can be killed prior to their missions, however you will not receive credit for them as part of the Horde Killer storyline until you reach the mission that requires you to kill them. If you clear them early, you will get no indication that you have successfully killed all swarmers and if you miss even one swarmer clearing them early the whole horde eventually respawns and you must kill them all again. Chemult is only killable during the mission that requires it and cannot be engaged early. The other mission horde is the Ice Wind Lava Cave horde as part of the mission What It Takes To Survive. This horde is only killable during this mission, is rather small for a horde at that point in the game, and does not count towards the Horde Killer storyline.
Special note about Beaver Marsh Rest Stop: you do encounter this “horde“ as part of the mission Just Doing My Job. It chases you out of the cave after the mission ends. If you fully clear it as part of that mission, you will not receive credit as lore wise its the same horde but technically the mission horde is its own separate thing with 300 freakers. You will have to kill the real horde again later after all of its unlock conditions have been met.

Doing a little 12 day solo tour around Oregon and naturally Bend drew me in. Partly on the off chance I'd be able to get a glimpse of Deacon and his bike. I got super lucky when inside the building- Dan was walking past the door as I got onto the landing. He came out and I explained I was on vacation from England and he was so cool about it. Pulled some strings to get me in to see the props and get pictures with them.
I know a few folk on here have been lucky before and some not so much. But just wanted to share as I know it will be appreciated. Dan seemed genuinely gutted about the sequel being pulled, especially after they were all prepped and ready to go with it. We can live in hope!
Got some cool merch from the receptionist too. Awesome people who I couldn't thank enough.
What a good day to be a nerd! 🤓.
Crater Lake tomorrow. Such a beautiful state!

During my 1st playthrough, just after unlocking Lost Lake, I made some research and calculations to get an actual breakdown of all trust points from quests and other activities that you can get in the first two camps in the game. So, allow me to share it with you, as well as my thoughts on relevant aspects of game strategy based on exact numbers.
First of all, here are four important pieces of basic info:
Now, the breakdown.
If you don’t care about reaching trust levels 2 and 3 in Hot Springs as early as possible and just want to assure you get level 3 in both camps before the aforementioned cut-scene without much fuss, give the drugs to Copeland. If you do that, you will only need to complete all the relevant quests and non-random activities (NERO Checkpoints, Ambush Camps, Infestations and hordes) in the Cascades and Belknap:

As you can see on the table above, no selling ears/meat/plants and no sending survivors is needed, you will get above required 25,000 points in both camps even if you sell nothing there and send no survivors to the camp. Giving the drugs to Copeland will probably immediately boost his trust to level 2 or very close to it, though level 2 bike upgrades from Manny are not very impressive to say the least - the only significant one is Saddlebags I. The rest includes Fuel Tank II (which is just slightly larger than Tank I), Fender I and Wheel II (each adds a very small amount of durability). BTW, level 3 at Copeland's unlocks only one additional bike upgrade, which is purely cosmetic and utterly useless, especially if you unlocked better mechanics in other camps...
On the other hand, reaching trust levels 2 and 3 in Hot Springs earlier might give you important benefits. Level 2 will allow you (among other stuff) to acquire MWS, which is much better primary weapon compared to SAF that was picked from an enemy (and you will be able to refill MWS ammo from any safe location). Level 3 will unlock US556, which is one of the two best assault riffles in the game; you’ll also be able to buy frag grenades from the vendor.
This is the reason you might want to give the drugs to Tucker instead, and here things become interesting. Here's the breakdown when those 5,000 trust points go to Hot Springs and not to Copeland’s camp:

After you give the drugs to Tucker, most probably you’ll still be at trust level 1 in both camps with quite a number of trust points needed to reach level 2 in any of them, though the things in Hot Springs will be much better. Things at Copeland’s camp will be worse, but level 2 bike upgrades there are quite weak (I described them all earlier). Reaching trust level 2 there after you give the drugs to Tucker will require from you to complete all NERO checkpoints, Ambush Camps and Infestations in the Cascades (if you haven't already), and, additionally, to clear 3 available local hordes and send 2 survivors to Copeland’s camp.
To reach much more useful trust level 2 in Hot Springs after you give the drugs to Tucker, you will need to clear all NERO Checkpoints (2), Ambush Camps (3) and Infestations (3) in Belknap. In addition to that, you will need to complete the 1st bounty for Tucker (“Nice and Bloody”), or, alternatively, clear one of the 4 available hordes in Belknap. As a possible alternative to one of the checkpoints/camps/infestations, you can do the next main quest (“What Did You Do?”), it will reward you with the same amount of trust points. You can also clear more hordes in Belknap; each will give you twice as much points as one checkpoint/camp/infestation.
Also, if you give the drugs to Tucker, it will give you an opportunity to reach level 3 in Hot Springs immediately after unlocking Lost Lake. If you come back to Belknap, a new Tucker's assignment and 3 more hordes will be readily available in the region. Given that you’ve already completed all previously available quests and activities (which included 4 local hordes), completing this new assignment and eliminating these hordes will put you at 22,100/25,000 for level 3. That means you will need to earn only 2,900 additional points. If you clear all 15 relatively small hordes in Belknap and the Cascades, you will have at least 755 swarmer ears worth 2,265 points, and I’m sure you will have more ears at this point of the game (If you haven’t sold any), and also some meat and plants you can trade as well, so the remaining 635 points won’t be an issue. If you need more ears, you can clear some hordes in Lost Lake region (there will be 3 of them available, 75 strong each), or farm a respawnable small horde of 25 swarmers in the deep narrow canyon underneath Belknap Caves Ambush Camp (they will respawn every time after you sleep twice, save and reload the game).
But if you don’t want to do this, the remaining quests later in the game will cover all the points needed for level 3 in Hot Springs before the moment when you’d want that for narrative reason.
Now, Copeland’s trust is another issue if those 5,000 points for the drugs went to Tucker. As you can see on the 2nd table above, after completing all the available non-random quests and activities before the cut-scene, you will still need 3,150 points for level 3. But, you can bring survivors to his camp, and you will need only 6 of them to cover almost all the remaining points! Most probably, you will encounter much more than 6 from the start of the game, but I recommend not to send more than 6 to Copeland, but send all the others in the three starting regions to Lost Lake, you will have much greater benefits there. If you haven’t been to Lost Lake encampment yet and have already sent 6 survivors to Copeland, when you see a new survivor, just quickly move away, they will respawn later in the game.
So, to conclude, if you want to reach trust levels 2 and 3 in Hot Springs as early as possible, but still assure you get level 3 in Copeland’s camp as well before the pivotal narrative moment, here are several guidelines you should follow:
I appreciate your attention and hope you will find this useful, thank you. 🙂

Hi everybody,
I bought Days Gone Remastered for PS5 a month ago, I really liked and once I completed the main game, I went to the challenges. I'm enjoying it's lot, but I have some problems on the motorbike ones.
You all know you have to go to the finish line passing through the circles, but thing is that randomly there is always some circle who don't load, making impossible to finish the challenge.
¿Is this a bug or something else?
Thanks!

So this is my first play through of days gone and for some reason in the mission where we ride north with Rikki, I found something weird. There were some dialogues which did not make sense to me. There were talks of "last night" and hints of Addy and Rikki somehow being interested in each other or some shit. Did I miss a quest cuz I am definitely not skipping any dialogues afaik. Please help if you guys have any ideas. Thanks.

I finished Days Gone a couple days ago, and decided to finish missions that I had not completed. I also decided to take out some hordes, and build trust with camps I didn’t have maxed out at the end. I finished the Lisa & O’Brien missions you get at the end but for the life of me I cannot figure out what happened to deeks wife. During the credits we see her riding with deek back to Lost Lake but I have yet to see her at all. Where is she? What happened to her?

I held off on playing Days Gone for years because of the initial launch reviews. Picked it up recently and I'm blown away. The horde mechanics alone put most modern zombie games to shame, and Deacon’s character growth actually feels earned. Why was the media so harsh on this game when it was released?

I’ve found this to be a great group — everyone is so helpful, thank you! I’m on my tenth playthrough (I know, probably not the healthiest 😂), and I’ve managed to build up over a million dollars across all my camps combined.
What about everyone else? How much money have you accumulated? I wish we could cash it out in real life! It definitely took a lot of work to get this far.

Got this game on release, and honestly, at first I wasn’t really into it. I found the story to be boring but what? 6? 7? Years later I picked it up and started to finish it. When I pick it up the second time around, I was doing some mission with Rikki, and ran into some rippers. At this point, it was still boring to me but once I hit the part where skizzo stabs you in the back and Iron Mikes camp gets attacked I got hooked. It really only got better from there, and I really only got more invested. I started doing a bunch of side missions and as I progressed through the main story line I started doing more side missions because I didn’t want the game to end. It was so good, I was really sleeping on it for years. An I mean YEARS. Loved the ending, it’s one of the first games where I actually watched the credit roll. This game starts out a slow, but the wait is definitely worth it.

I upgraded to the remastered version and it’s crazy how many bugs i’ve encountered and i barely had any on the ps4 version. Can’t believe i wasted my money on this when the ps4 version is ultimately better. ( i play on PS5 )
r/DaysGone • u/Light07sk • 3d ago
So as fan who knew this game since it released and played it since early 2020, i have been playing this every year on ps4 pro. And recently decided that i will try it finally on PC and it is amazing
Finally getting off that 30 FPS limit is beauty to be playing this game and although it absolutely did not need to be remastered i love that after all those years i can enjoy this game with new experiences and the lightning is amazing as well.
Aiming is also easier for me on mouse and keyboard.
So yeah excited to try out also some new content they added in this

i finally finished days gone and i have to get this off my chest.
i can’t tell you how many times i installed and uninstalled this game. honestly, at the start, i thought it was so boring. i tried to get into it, but it was kind of scary for me, so i’d just play the first mission or two and then quit and delete it.
months went by and i decided to give it another shot. i promised myself i’d actually try to push past the beginning for real this time.
and wow... wtf. i can’t believe i almost missed out on this. this game is actually incredible. it’s exactly the kind of zombie game i was looking for. the story is so damn good, especially since i’m a huge fan of zombie movies/series and stuff like the walking dead.
it’s genuinely one of the best games i’ve played. FOR REAL.
r/DaysGone • u/blackbear_9898 • 3d ago
Well, I just finished the game (storyline at least) and I haven’t anything like this since playing RDR2, the story is amazing, the quests, the grinds, the hordes, all of it is an adrenaline rush and just an overall amazing experience. I joined this group a month or so ago when I purchased the remastered version on sale, and the realization that it had been out 10 years now without me playing is crazy to think.
I truly hope that those who previously worked on this game pay attention to the newfound fandom and re-lived glory that this game was robbed of and maybe consider a true sequel.
Regardless, it’s such a good feeling to conclude the story but also bittersweet to realize that all I can do now is hunt hordes and explore, a replay through will definitely be in the near future.
Glad I can enjoy a game like this where I know it’s loved in the same way by so many, this was one of my first games of this type of genre and now I’m hooked.
Long Live Days Gone…and hopefully more of it in the future!
r/DaysGone • u/datman510 • 3d ago
We finished it and he asked to run it back 😂 so we got the remastered upgrade and are running the option where you can start again with all your weapons on Hard this time.
I’m so grateful for this game more so than I was just from playing it by myself. Thank my brothers in Days Gone
r/DaysGone • u/Straight_Giraffe_936 • 1d ago
Does anybody know how to get the game to run better on the dec? Honestly it runs so bad and looks so poor in thinking of buying the game again on my ps5, idk maybe it's a me thing.
r/DaysGone • u/Artichoke808 • 2d ago
So, when I was not far from completing the game I killed a horde and found a bunch of cards (zombie ears) where they had been. Couldn't pick them up because I had maxxed out, but it took me a while to realise what they were.
Previously I could only see the ears as points on the mini-map so it seems it was only once I maxxed out that anything appeared in the main (gameplay) window.
Is this how it's supposed to be or is this a bug?
r/DaysGone • u/T4lker • 3d ago
Guys, have you been able to mod the game? If yes, how did you do it?
I've been trying a few days already, but it doesn't work. Before the update everything was running smoothly.
