I want a dash cam for my daily commute, but I really do not want another little box hanging off the windshield with a cable dangling down the trim. I keep looking at mirror cams, but I am worried about daytime glare, night brightness, and what months of parked-car heat will do to the screen. I care more about something I can forget about than a mirror full of features. Would you run a mirror cam every day, or hide a basic wedge cam behind the mirror and avoid the screen altogether?

I got in my car to go to work this morning and the dash cam randomly wouldn’t stop saying “please insert as card.” The SD card has been in this whole time and the dash cam was working perfectly until today. I emailed their support but I’m just wondering if there are any quick fixes that could maybe work? I already factory reset and powered off and on the dash cam. Thank you!

For instance, the ones I think I see the most are:

- instant karma where police pull someone oger

- distracted driving

- people not knowing how roundabouts work

my wrangler spare tire blocks enough of the rear window that the stock mirror has always felt half useless, so I tried a mirror dash cam thinking it would clean up the view. The rear camera helps, but the mirror screen is picking up daytime glare and at certain angles I see more of my own cabin than the traffic behind me. I am not sure if this is an install angle problem, a screen brightness problem, or just part of living with mirror cams. For people running these in Jeeps or SUVs with blocked rear glass, what fixed it for you?

a driver ran a stale red near my neighborhood today and I had one of those moments where I realized the story would just be my word against theirs if we had touched. I have avoided getting a dash cam because the options all start to look the same after ten minutes of reading, and half the complaints are about apps or mounts instead of actual footage. I mostly want something that can show the light, the lane, and maybe a plate in decent conditions. Is a basic front cam enough for that, or is this one of those things where cheaping out is obvious later?

I have a Red Tiger dash cam (F7NP). What's wrong with my front camera? Cant seem to fix it

I'm having problems finding a good dashcam that will work with my car for the rear view. Getting the frontal windshield is easy but the back of the car, not so easy. Specifically it's a 2016 228i BMW convertible and the problem comes in that there's no way to bolt a rear view dash cam on the trunk and then lead it into the car, as the whole area around the license plate is used for something, to be specific..the plate, then above it is the empty grab area to lift the trunk open, to the right is a reverse camera(doesn't function as a dashcam, only used when reversing for in car computer for me to see), and to the left is a light.(A google images picture of the rear should explain it better).

Inside on the back, there's only a small plastic area right before where the convertible opens up to put the roof inside the trunk so there's no flat surface to put it on there.

Sorry if its a long read, I'm just really stuck trying to find a solution that seems impossible.

Which one of these(or a different similar one) would be my best option? I DoorDash in west Texas, so a lot of sun and heat. My main wants is that it has at least 2 channel, gps and 24hr parking mode. Is 4k necessary? Will 2-2.7k be fine? I really want quality and something that will actually work for under $300. Or should I get two A119 pros? Let me know!! Thank y’all in advance! Also, what is a good SD card?

It's easy to compare features on paper, but I've found that long term ownership usually tells a different story.

For those who've had the same dash cam for a year or longer, what brand and model are you using, and how has it held up over time? Has it been reliable enough that you rarely think about it, or have you run into issues like overheating, SD card errors, app problems, or missed recordings

I'm more interested in hearing about real ownership experiences than spec sheets. If you had to rate your current dash cam after living with it for a while, would you buy the same one again? Why or why not?

Had a minor parking lot thing happen last week, I wanted the footage just in case. Didn't get around to pulling it off the card for like 4 days because life happened, and when i finally went to grab it the loop recording had almost overwritten it. Caught it with maybe a day to spare.

Realized i don't have any real system for this. I assumed the footage would sit there until i needed it, didn't think about the card cycling through and erasing the older stuff.

How do you guys handle this. Do you save important clips manually every time something happens, is there an app that auto backs things up, or am i just supposed to be checking my footage way more often than i do.

Hello All,

After doing some research here I picked up a Viofo A229.
Overall the installation went well.

Unfortunately I do have a pocket of air on the front mount.
Clean seal on the all the way around the perimeter.
Per a web search this is likely due to curve of glass and a soft center section of the mount.

Will this hold up in the desert heat?
I did a very thorough clean and isopropyl application.

Appreciate feedback.

Hi everyone,

I want to install two exterior cameras on the sides of my car, mounted around the front fenders. This is a regular passenger car, not a truck.

I have seen multi-channel dashcam systems, such as Thinkware setups, where a front dashcam acts as the main unit and two external cameras connect directly to it.

However, I do not want the exterior cameras to depend on my main front dashcam. I would prefer them to operate as a separate system and save their recordings to a different memory card.

My main reason is redundancy. If the main dashcam fails to save an important recording for some reason, I would still like the separate side-camera system to have its own copy.

I am planning to use two cameras with the following specifications:

• 1080p / 2MP
• IP68 waterproof rating
• GC2053 image sensor/mainboard

I would connect them using the appropriate cable adapters to a two-channel SD card MDVR.

It also appears that I can connect a small monitor to the MDVR so I can view the live camera feeds and recorded footage when needed.

Has anyone installed a similar setup in a passenger car?

Does this sound like it should work reliably? Are there any compatibility issues or other things I should check before buying the equipment?

I bought a used van from a private seller and they misrepresented the condition of the car. During the test drive they said they’re a mechanic for 20 years and the van didn’t need any repairs for the next 3-5 years but my mechanic says it’s not safe to drive… he seemed like such a nice older man and I relied on his professional assessment. You live and learn.

the seller wasn’t interested in paying for the repairs or buying it back so now I have to go through the civil resolution tribunal … anyway we had that conversation in multiple ways over the test drive and I want to get that evidence to add to the case.

The dashcam said there were multiple files on it but they wouldn’t play, then they disappeared and now I get this error message. I can’t figure out how to retrieve them. I bought a microsd card reader but it didn’t show any files. Please help! I just wanted a safe car for my family 😞

Hello, everyone. I own a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer and have almost gotten into a car accident on my way to work last week. Not only that, but a few minutes after that close call, a semi almost runs me off the road too.

I personally dont really have a preference for price as long as it stays under $250 and the software isn't like a pay-to-use or free trial and then pay to unlock all perks.

My main concern is that I have proof for the insurance people in the case that I do get into an accident or if my siblings get into one as they are getting to the age where they're driving and are using my car.

Any recs or advice help!

I have wired the yellow (BAT) wire to my ECALL fuse which is continuously on and my red (ACC) wire to the WIPER fuse which is only on during turning the ignition on. I have ensured the directionality of the fuse taps are correct following this very helpful guide (https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/proper-way-to-install-an-add-a-fuse.21560/#google_vignette).

I'm having trouble where my dashcam a RedTiger F7NP is always on and the parking mode setting will say "connect ACC for parking mode" (or something along those lines). My wiring kit is a generic set from Amazon (ACC-H530 model number - link is too long and shortened links not allowed). This is on a 2023 Hyundai Elantra N.

My question is, why is my dashcam on constantly? I am pretty sure the yellow wiring is logical and unplugging the red ACC still results in the dashcam maintaining on status.
