Christopher Nolan avoided CGI and used 7ft stuntmen to portray Laestrygonians in The Odyssey. The giant leader, King Antiphates, is portrayed by actor Josh Stewart, while Matt Damon’s stunt double is Devyn Dalton, who is just under 5ft.

It drives me insane how much misinformation is being spread regarding the usage of CGI in productions these days. No one appreciates practical effects more than the VFX artists who elevate these scenes by taking the on-set reference and enhancing them. Nolan himself has voiced his reliance on CG, having won many awards for his involvement with them. It's honestly so disappointing to see big name actors and producers spread the rhetoric that everything seen in camera has no post-production. Of course, months after the film releases, you can find the wonderful breakdowns and wire frames that took hundreds of artists to create, invisible to the human eye because of how well it was pulled off. Yes practical is great, but I don't know why studios are trying to deceive audiences regarding how much VFX is used. Really sucks to see a lot of great artists and work get covered up and badmouthed. Really exited to see the work done on the incredible Circe scene. Practical can only get so far; the success of that can only be done digitally. Said it in another sub , and I really hope people realize there’s an art form to combining these mediums.
