Christopher Nolan avoided CGI and used 7ft stuntmen to portray Laestrygonians in The Odyssey. The giant leader, King Antiphates, is portrayed by actor Josh Stewart, while Matt Damon’s stunt double is Devyn Dalton, who is just under 5ft.

I was wondering how they did it without CGI and the answer was "just hire really tall guys"

when asked what the trick was to make Reacher look so big, Alan goes, there is no trick. I am 6 2(?) and they only hired actors 5 5 (or whatever) or shorter for the other roles.
