Christopher Nolan avoided CGI and used 7ft stuntmen to portray Laestrygonians in The Odyssey. The giant leader, King Antiphates, is portrayed by actor Josh Stewart, while Matt Damon’s stunt double is Devyn Dalton, who is just under 5ft.

Thanks for putting it out there for the Europeans. It really sucks that Americans are forced to use the shitty Canadian system for measuring height

Foot as a unit of measurement hasn't only been around since the inception of the United States. Some variant of it has been around since the ancient Romans
