Daily Free Talk Thread
This is a trial run on a daily free talk thread during the off-season. This is the place where we can talk about persistent trade rumors involving our team, and speculate on moves Jim Nill might need to make. We can also talk about other trades and news in the league, and events in the hockey world. If ACTUAL news happens (a player on our teams signs a contract) that can be a separate post.
I've set the comments so they should sort by new by default, so that should make it easier to keep up with the flow of conversation. Off-topic chit-chat is welcome here as long as it follows the typical subreddit rules. Overall, be cool. Don't be all, like, uncool.

Cap Compliance!
Finally… the deal has been struck. So what’s next??
12m is awesome! Here’s why I think it’s awesome for cap compliance!
We have -1.36m cap space on puckpedia, Hyry can go down to the AHL, bringing our cap space to -485k. That is a small enough number that we have more options!!! We can now keep steel and Faksa if we so choose. We can offload Myers and sign a league min guy if we so choose.
So, the question becomes, who do we offload? Steel, Myers, Faksa, or is there another solution?
My mind says we trade Myers and Desmith together, bring porier up, and be able to three way trade for a defensemen with enough retention to fit (cap hit of 1.16 max) to replace Myers.
Idk if that magic trade exists… because of that, I think we will unfortunately trade Faksa.
There is a chance of some sort of upgrade trading Faksa or steel as well using Desmith as the piece to create retention for an upgrade, but I don’t know if that happens. I think we just trade Faksa, and build up cap space for something to potentially happen at the trade deadline.

Price Drop Repost - Mikko ‘99 $215
galleryNeed to move this one to free up some funds!!
Fully stitched Mikko "99" alternate, Fanatics Premium sz 56.
This was purchased on the release day, and because Rantanen was traded to the Stars at the prior trade deadline, his '99 jerseys were fully stitched twill, as opposed to the normal embroided
"patch"-style retail name and numbers on these jerseys.
Jersey is in like-new condition. Looking for $215 local pickup in DFW, or add $15 for shipping in the CONUS. Offers welcome! Thanks!

Robertson Arbitration Comparables
Who do you think each side will use as comparables?
My personal comparable is Marty Necas on Colorado, same draft class, very similar points, similar roles (but different play styles)
Before Necas signed his contract, at the very beginning of last year, I had Robo chalked at 10.5-11.5. Once Necas signed his 11.5 deal, I considered that Robo’s new floor, at 11.5.
Before any offseason signings this year, I had Robo at 12.5-13.5, and I think I still do, however, listening to cap % changes and Robo really pushing for more, I think it’ll end up being 13.5x8. I also believe we will go 12 forwards, 7 d with Hyry going to the AHL, and steel getting traded.
I think it’s possible that faksa and steel get traded to have a 13/7 roster, with Hyry replacing faksa, and Bastian potentially replacing Steele. It’ll be a rough offseason.
Here’s to nill, who is probably doing everything to make Robo sign for 12.7 or less to manage 13-7 roster now and only losing Steele or faksa, in which case, it’s hard between Steele and faksa, faksa has a better replacement, but also has 2 years of amazing contract over Steele. Losing Steele and our team gets that little bit slower replacing him with Hyry.

Stars will wear 5 different jerseys next season
- Home
- Road
- The 99s
- Stadium Series
- Hometown Remix
Have they ever had this many in one season?
Gonna be a pricey season as I will have to get the 2 new additions. At least it adds some extra anticipation on what the 2 new ones will look like.

Who wants to skew a poll for Finland?
Couldn't cross post, but there's a poll for "favorite F country." Figured we'd have an opinion on that here in South Finland lol

Texas Rangers flee Victory+, create new DTC option mid-season. Anaheim Ducks also planning to cancel their contract with Victory+.
This bit is quite concerning.
Since February, however, Victory+ has had difficulty securing additional financing. And according to multiple sources, Victory+ has had trouble making its minimum guarantee payments to teams in multiple leagues.
We were talking about this in the free talk thread, but I think this has risen to "news that needs its own post" status.
EDIT: Per Robert Tiffin on twitter he "[r]eached out to the team, and was told that things are status quo between Stars and Victory+ right now. We'll see where things go."
