I recently did my CDL training at Floyd Bennett field and passed my road test so I called HR to check my medical status, I assumed it was good because everyone said no call was good and it was over a month ago. They told me I was rejected but I’m just confused because they still let me do my CDL training with them wouldn’t they have taken me out of the class ? They didn’t even tell me why I got disqualified they said I have to wait for the letter in the mail. Does anyone have any experience with this or advice ? Just very confused.

I’m a probie out sick for a couple months now and my car just got stolen outside my place 2 hours ago around 12:30. Caught the guys in the act but couldn’t stop them. Cops were called and a report filed. Already filed a claim with insurance. Pissed at myself for not calling the cops sooner.

Happened in BK5 district.

I have a queen-size box spring I need to get rid of through bulk item NYC collection.

I have a couple questions because the DSNY website is super confusing.

1. Has anyone ever left a big box spring out on the curb to get picked up by DSNY? Does it actually get picked up if it’s in a plastic bag?

2. It’s mostly plastic and metal. Online in one section it says I put it out on recycling day and then in another section it says all large items like box springs go out with the bulk item trash. Does anyone know which one is the right answer, recycling or regular trash day?

3. Also where exactly do I need to put it out on my street? I live in an apartment complex.

I have to do OJT at QW6 tomorrow from 8am-4pm. Will I be allowed to park at the garage? If not is street parking easy to find around there?

I've been an SW for about a year now. It's fine, and there hasn't been a day where I didn't enjoy coming to work. I'm a yes for everything, and take just about any OT available.

I do, however, feel that I'm not being challenged enough, and wonder about how much professional growth this job has.

Lately, I've been getting emails form NYPD. My case is still active, surprisingly, and it has gotten me thinking if I should continue the process. A part of me is also considering DOC. Whenever I'm on a route or a cleaning/special function, every time I see the uniform, I wonder about what could have been if Sanitation hadn't called me first.

While I understand this sub's attitude towards other uniformed city jobs, I'm looking for advice as to what direction I should go, as I don't mind having more responsibilities, and the ability to move up and earn more.

A little bit of background: I'm in my early forties, second career, single/no kids(I hope to find a wife/start a family in the near future?), Masters degree, good physical shape, and don't mind a hard day's work.

Edit: There's a few comments concerning NYPD's age limit. PD's age limit applies to date of exam, not appointment. My case is on an active exam I took when I was 34.

Just received email for July class. Says to get uniforms within 4 days of the first day of class. Is there a specific location? And what clothing do you recommend. I’m in queens if you have any recommendations somewhere near by

Is there more places to buy uniform and gear besides the place on 3rd Ave Brooklyn ?

I’m from one of the new classes and work in queens. I always hear it gets better which I believe but I’m curious when (if ever) does your schedule get better, more consistent, actually able to make plans with friends etc. I understand winter is different and can’t make plans but just in general when do you think your schedule gets better ?

Hello, does anyone know when will the next Sanitation Exam will be held? I missed the last one in 2022 and hoping there’s going to be a new one soon. Also, if I’m Notice of Proposed Disqualification for another city agency should I withdraw on it before it turns into a Disqualification? thanks

I did my medical on June 11th. It’s still pending, never received a phone call regarding anything. I also haven’t received anything in the mail either. Should I be worried? I was hoping to get into the July class…

Took my medical in mid/late June. Saw on here they’d be sending out emails this week for the July 27th class. just wondering if anybody got anything yet to go to final processing.

Where am I suppose to dump used batteries, especially vapes? To many times you toss it with trash and then it catches fires.
Does the city has any places to dump? Or we just going to pretend it’s ok to toss it with regular trash?

That website change was annoying where people couldn’t get into their account but there’s only 49 people with that problem left and they haven’t contacted me so I’ll assume they’re inactive till contact.

New things in this update have been in previous updates but now they’re more polished and ready.
- Section Map. Used Open Data to copy sections over to this map. You can turn it off as seen on the second page showing all the filters.
- XWP etc is now able to remove hours from the comp details page and the number at the homepage. There’s a whole section for “Scheduled Off Days” and you just input your day and what kind of off day it is and the site does the rest for u. It’ll show up as a Dark Blue day in the homepage and shift calendar with a label.
- Chart and Vacation Days moved from shift calendar page to Profile under the yellow schedule category.
- Snow Hours/Pay has been turned on. It’s not 100% perfect at all. I just clicked a button and did nothing else to update what I had already. So be patient with that. The whole premise with that is you work a snow function and it categorizes it with SNOW PAY and it adjusts the pay if needed and recognizes OT, Chart, Sunday etc. also show how many hours for each hour on snow worked. The whole rule with the 1.5x or 2.0x chart day will be implemented as a snow feature by September. Not a priority.

Things that are being worked on:
- Low Bridges filter toggles aren’t working separately so keep it off to reduce lag. RFK bridge needs adjusting. More bridges in the Bronx need lines.
- Emergency will be added as a SDO (Scheduled Day Off).
- Function Money like RoRo will be added.
- Snow Hours doesn’t line up with actual hours worked.
- Says sync is offline. Could be a visual bug. Aware of it.
