So I noticed a small oil drip a few days ago I used to think it was the drain plus I cleaned everything up and changed the oil so I can find the leak whole time it was this. What’s this called and where can I find it? Thank you in advance

Took it for a ride today and I noticed once I got back home there is gas leaking out of the petcock I believe a. What should I do? Do I need a new petcock? New seal? Please help. Is it the carb?

Got this bike from a previous owner and I don’t know if it’s going to cause anything down the road to repair it or not

Bought this ‘23Sm with 2k miles from local dealership last year, said they got it from guy in AZ and it had the 3x3 and all basic mods done. Runs and sounds good, have 8K already on it,

Only thing I seen like it was like cheap off brand stuff but was curious about it because was wanting to take it to national forest for first time and was wondering if I need entire new pipe with spark arrestor or if I could add it to this one or if this one has it already, looks completely empty inside.

Low hanging fruit improvements. Removed the stock headlight mounts and wrapped the forks in matte black. Pretty much done with the front for now.

I recently bought a 2016 DRZsm……… the mods it came with 3x3 air box mod, full MRD exhaust, 434 big bore kit with vortex piston and stage 1 hot cams. From my understanding to get the full potential of the bike, next would upgrading the carb, not just jetting the stock carb……

Almost trail ready

Picked up this up from a friend, rebuilt the carb, cleaned it up, oil change, new throttle cables, new air filter. Basically stock with 19k miles. Threw a harbor frieght case on the back so I can run errands with it. Loving the ride so far.

I’ve been riding for 20 years or so and this is the smallest bike I’ve owned. Had a vstrom650, KLR660, and an xr500l and this thing is by far the most fun and definitely the most capable off road. I’ve yet to take it on trails as most of the riding here in central Tx is private land, but it’s been a perfect commuter.

Last image is how it was to begin with, I loosened some things and put weight on the bike and it looks like it's improved a ton but I don't really trust my eyes, is there a way to be sure?

So I’m working on my gf’s dad’s drz400, I work on skis and my own sports bikes so this is kinda down my alley. He got a new head put in, rode it for around 200 miles he said, then it died and didn’t wanna start. He said it ticked like crazy so I checked his valves and they were still within spec. It ended up being a horrible spark plug, I put a new laser iridium plug in and still no start. I took apart his petcock and it seems like the person who worked on it previously put this hose on the filter, or is this normal? I took it off and still didn’t start but it’ll backfire. The battery is good, I checked the cranks and it’s healthy, good spark, gas is also okay. I took the carb off and everything seems fairly clean, I haven’t had time to fully take it apart. What should I look for?

Hi, I did everything as in manual, when I torqued down cylinder head bolts, i saw that the oil went through new cylinder gasket. The oit was sitting in oil passeges because I didn't drain it. Was it a mistake? I need to know if I screwed up completely and have to do it all over again.

Looking for some opinions on what could have caused a knocking noise in my DR-Z400.
Before tearing it down, the bike was:
Smoking on startup (bluish/white smoke)
Backfiring while running
Started and ran, but had a noticeable knocking noise from the engine
The motor is completely torn down now, and surprisingly everything looks pretty decent. I haven’t found any obvious catastrophic damage to the crank, rod, piston, or bearings so far.
The only thing that really stands out is some scoring inside the oil pump housing. The coolant also looked burnt/discolored when I drained it.
Has anyone run into something similar? Could a worn oil pump have caused low oil pressure and a knock, or should I be looking harder at the crank, rod big-end, balancer, or something else? I’m trying to figure out what caused the knock before I start ordering parts and putting it back together.
Any ideas or things I should inspect while it’s apart would be appreciated.

I’ve been enamored with the idea of setting up the drz400 with the light and maybe even fender off these new bikes. Anyone else done any digging into the idea?

I have contacted the 2 dealerships in my state and got quoted $30 for a blank.

Are there any Aliexpress blanks to fit the DRZ or am I looking at $40 or more for a blank and cut?

I think I need to do this to connect the left & right sides on the bottom. I'm Kidding. Or not....

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I come from inline fours where shifting has always felt buttery smooth but on the DRZ it feels clunky. I have a 2021 model that man I feel like if I don’t kick that sucker up with some force it doesn’t feel amazing. I believe the clutch cable is within spec, so I’m wondering if it is not fully engaging when the lever is pulled in or if it’s a symptom of the old design of these bikes?

So I bought a 02 Drz400sm on fb marketplace freshly rebuilt with a 470 bore/crank/cams that a nearby reputable shop built, guy said 30 miles on rebuild no oil change, bike had sat for a year and needed carb clean, he had receipts and I talked to the builder and he confirmed he built it, when I pulled the oil plugs and filter out extremely glittery, it this amount plausible for a 30 mile rebuild first change? There was a lot more magnetic material in the oil too, it wasn’t all on the drain plug

Hi yall so I bought a used DRZ 400sm is modded the fuck out I’m not sure the time like when buddy guy did these mods but for sure did the JD jet kit with the exhaust unknown about airbox mod and k&n filter. The bike runs totally fine but when I blip throttle at lowww rpms just reving it she dies is this a clogged jet or just a fuel mixture screw I can adjust I also want to take out the DB killer in exhaust so it’s louder but in return we’ll also make the bike run leaner I’ve read online that you can just spray carb cleaner/drain carb anyone try this and have success was gonna try this weekend.
