mending How to mend shoes?
Fabric is flaking off these boots I got at a thrift store, they'll flake anytime I wear them. Anything I can do to prevent this? I was just gonna glue it down, stick tape over it then sew on a patch over it, They're really comfortable and I don't care if the solution looks nice or anything, just wanna see if anyone has ideas!

How can I restore some old leather?
Hi,
I just found a very old leather jacket that has not been used for at least 5 years. it's quite thick leather and now, having not been moved for such long time, the fabric feels extremely stiff and rigid.
I never treated leather, so I am a complete noobie. I am brushing it with a first layer of body hydrating cream (basic Nivea white stuff) and was wondering what your routine is in this case. I thought of giving it a bit of this at first, to soften it, and later proceed to add some oil to protect it. Ideally, I would prefer homemade solutions, I heard cocoa butter can be good?

wip Taking the neckline off
I havent worn this in a while, and I wanted to take the neck off and make it off the shoulder like I've seen done to band tees, problem is? I have no idea what I'm doing and don't have any experience doing anything like this and I need help😭. If it helps, the material is 60% cotton, 40% polyester, and its stretchy and an XL size. Sorry for the landscape photo

machine sewing Mini Skirt : denim + Scottish Tile Fabrics
I had a dress that I really liked as a Gothic lolita, a slightly shattered old jeans (thigh level) and the lace that my grandmother had when she was sewing.
Result 1
A mini skirt and a choker
The best part is that I still have some plaid fabric left so I'll see if I can create the matching top!!!

Where do you guys get good quality bases?
I couldn't find any basic black tanks anywhere of decent quality so I just decided to bite the bullet and order them online and they come in, to the surprise of none, feeling like cheap plastic. It's frustrating how shoddy everything seems to be.

hand sewing How to add Straps to this dress
I thrifted this dress about a week ago and I love it, but it needs work. I've already taken it in from a XL to a M. I also had to move the breast pads as they were inside the dress, or in-between the fabric, and it was skin color against white. They are now behind the fabric so it will blend in with my skin. The final adjustment I'm struggling with; straps. I'd like to add straps for support and comfort. I have thin straps off an old bra that would allow it to be adjustable, but they feel plain with all the textures. If anyone has any ideas involving the already cut straps or something else, it would be appreciated. Please note, I don't want to buy anything else but there's probably a lot around my house I could use (my grandma was a hoarder and my mom brought a lot of useful things home when cleaning out her house). I'm also new to sewing, so nothing with extremely complicated stitching.

dye help How to dye a beaded embellished dress?
I just got this Jaded London dress and I was hoping to dye it to another color, probably navy or purple. It’s polyester so I was planning to use the Rit synthetic dye. I know that synthetic means a higher temperature. I was looking online and it says that the beads/sequins could melt. I guess I’m wondering if there’s any advice/is it possible to dye without ruining the beading/sequins?
The materials description:
“Fabric1 : 90% polyester,10% elastane.
Trim 1: 100% recycled sequins.
Trim 2: 100% glass.
Trim 3: 100% copper.
Dry clean only
Take care to avoid snagging
Due to the delicate nature of this garment, care should be taken when washing and wearing. Hand wash separately. Some bead loss may occur over time”

How long does permanent marker last on clothes?
So today i drew a chb logo on a shirt for a cosplay with permanent marker before thinking that it might not be the best for it. I am gonna wear it at a con this weekend. I'm wondering how many washes would it last before it looks awful?
