AEP is out of their dang mind

Just got a bill for $250 for the month of July... I used less electricity than last year and am supposed to pay literally double what last year's bill was.

Vote the Republicans out ... They can't run a state.

Quarry Trails Metro Park

This metro park is very interesting! You can canoe/kayak in the lake, there’s a dirt bike course, a waterfall, a giant sledding hill and some simple trails. Apparently they have nights where they provide equipment so you can learn to kayak and other free events to socialize. I’ve heard the apartments are rough but the park is cool.

Between the scorching heatwaves, humidity and the shitty air quality, this is the first time I’ve been able to open all the windows in a few weeks. It feels amazing and I’m so grateful for the reprieve! Have a great day, everyone!

It is a part of a larger apartment system. Someone is advertising no money for application, these move in fees are eliminated, low security deposit. It is a scam probably trying to get your money. Please spread!!!

End of an Era: Taco Bell Kenny Rd

Used to be the best Taco Bell in town and it wasn’t even close.

New ownership “southpaw” has apparently decided to change all of that. Shortened hours, and just zero employees working there today over 2 hours after opening.

Shame upon Southpaw and their families.

Finding a job

I’m a college student that doesn’t have a lot of money current and I’m struggling to find a job. I’ve been applying to several places and I don’t hear back and when I do I do the interview don’t hear anything afterwards. I’m also trying to prioritize school and work at the same time like finding a good balance. But when I tell them what my availability looks like off the tip of my head during the interview I feel like and I could be wrong might be the reason I don’t hear back. Idk I’ve been dealing with this for months and it’s been very framing and I’m not sure what to do atp.

Open Letter to Norris Drive and North Linden Improvement Construction

Dear (presumed) resident of Norris Drive,

We have a lot of road closures and construction on and around Cooke Road between Maize and Cleveland Avenue right now. It’s gonna be a long few months. Many people are having to detour around this road work to get to work, and to home, and wherever else they may be going. I get that it’s frustrating and an inconvenience but these improvements are going to be such a positive impact to the infrastructure in North Linden. In a way, it plays an active part in upgrading connectors to star projects like the Linden Green Line.

Because of these (net positive) projects, a lot of people are having their standard avenues of travel changed and that means we have to use adjacent streets to get around. I myself am near Dresden and have seen an increase in traffic due to detouring on my street (and people are flying, hey we have kids playing here).

I do not know who you are, but some resident continues to put “construction” barricades blocking incoming traffic and indicating the road is “closed” at both the east and west ends of Norris Drive. There is no work on Norris Drive. We all are having to shift our lives around, increase our commutes, and generally have our lives disrupted for a time. You don’t get to decide that your public street is spared from this. I recognize your street culture and community is typically nice and quiet but you cannot simply push aside your larger neighborhood for your own convenience. We all are in this with each other right now. It’s sucks that people aren’t going 25 down your street, but putting up fake construction barricades is both a safety issue and a selfish move.

Kindly, a neighbor who just just wants to get home.

women’s rec basketball? 🏀💅

In my late thirties, I’ve decided I want to try playing basketball. I’m not tall, played one season in 4th grade ☠️. Is there a place where I could learn how to pick up the game with others? And if I love it like I think I might, maybe even join a rec league / team?!

🏀💅⛹️‍♀️

Thanks for any intel!!

Fee Guide for apartments? WTF?

editing to add: I have no idea how to add a pic to this LOL but these are the fees I mean, NOT regular fees like utilities. There is no way you’re going to look at this link and tell me it isn’t insane. I’ve seen almost this EXACT page on so many apartment websites. A required monthly lease lock fee? Monthly master policy fee? Monthly admin fee? Required WiFi and cable? No thanks, I haven’t watched cable in 15 years and have my own WiFi service for cheaper. As if paying $2000+ for their shitty small apartment isn’t enough already, they want to nickel and dime people. Fee Guide

(Vent post) I have to move in a few months… when I moved a couple of years ago, rent prices sucked but I do not remember every single apartment community having a whole fucking guide on all the extra fees they charge you on top of rent. Why does it seem like EVERY single god damn apartment complex charges all these extra required fees now?! wtf! I hate it here
