We’re a team working on BeyondColor, a project focused on reducing the barriers that people with color vision deficiency (CVD) face in education, workplaces, digital tools, and everyday situations.

We are developing a platform that adapts visual materials directly from the source. After uploading a file, our system analyzes the content and creates an alternative version using double coding: important information is represented not only through color but also through additional patterns, shapes, and visual cues.

We are currently conducting user research and testing our prototype. We are looking for people with different types of color vision deficiency who would be willing to participate in a short interview and try our prototype.

During the session, we would like to:

• Learn about your experiences and challenges related to CVD
• Show you our prototype and collect your feedback
• Understand what works well and what needs improvement

Your perspective is extremely valuable because we want to build something that addresses real problems faced by the CVD community.

Hey guys I am 18 Moderate deutan color blind (Enchroma/pilestone test) also I am obsessed with cars. So all my money goes to cars. Here in my country there is no official outlet of any glasses brand that has colorblind glasses aswell so I can not get trial thing. its about 80-110k for a pair of outdoor glasses or about 150k for a combo for indoor and outdoor glasses. SO, My question is that are these glasses worth it? Is there any benefit of getting them? Indoor and outdoor glasses both should be bought? Because for 130k i can get a quite nice set of Wheels🤪

Based on comments people are having a hard time seeing the slime mold ring. I'm red/green color blind, and saw it right away! Anyone else here?

From afar red things look green and vice versa but also pink and gray and sometimes red or green things are just a brown mixture

Hello everyone! :)

I just want to tell you that I am new to this topic, but I spent the last 2 weeks obsessed with understanding how this works since I have "Normal" color vision. Why?

I've been lurking here ever since I realized my son 3,5 year old is color blind. It runs in my wife's family, but I did not think of it until we played some color games that some colors/shades he mentioned always was a bit off.

Like:
Purple = blue,
Bright green = yellow,
Darker reds = brown,
Some pinks = light blue
etc.

So I tried the enchroma test for kids (with shapes) even tho he is a bit too young and I made it a fun game like "Let's see if the shapes are hiding from us or if we can spot them!" and he could never see the red-ish against specific dark backgrounds. So the result was "100 blue, 100 green, 0 red".

It might not be super precise, since he is young but he clearly has some sort of deficiency and all pointing towards protanomaly, moderate to severe I guess.

So I tried all kinds of online simulations to get a feeling of what he sees. And the standard google pictures you get when you search for the different types I feel is kind of bad because they are static and does not show/portrait the whole feeling. Like when you record a video and say "you can never capture the real feeling through this camera"-ish.

So I downloaded some apps that can simulate colorblindness and I pointed the camera to the colors he was mentioning and increased/lowered my settings to match as close as I could to what he was describing.

After that I downloaded some colorblind-filters for World of Warcraft so I could try playing games with simulated Colorblindness.

I changed between different types but focused on protanomaly and protanopia. And I kept playing with that for the last week and after a while I did not even realize that I played with limited colors on. I had as much fun as without the filters.

And what have I learned through all of this?
It's not bad at all! I might have been bummed when I learned about this for my son because I knew nothing about color-blindness, but now I feel relieved :)

Maybe a bad take but I think of it like back in the days when we had smaller tv's. In today's world we would never buy a small TV like that because it's size is "limiting". But when watching a movie on a small screen or a big screen, the movie is the same, the feeling is more or less the same when you're adapted to it.

And I love that my son often says randomly when we are outside: It's so pretty here! So wonderful. Because indeed it is, no matter the range of colors.

I'm looking for movies or TV shows featuring colorblind characters. "Little Miss Sunshine" obviously comes to mind, but if you have any others, I'd love to hear them.

Bonus points if it's not a comedy trope, like "Cut the green wire! Oh no, he's colorblind and cut the red one instead."

I've created a free open source tool that i am hoping will help other colorblind people. If there is at least one other person that finds this helpful, i have achieved my goal

What the tool is

It's functioning similar to a normal colorpicker, however the main thing it's doing is trying to find out what color you have selected (e.g. blue, red, orange, yellow etc...)

I don't know where the example image will be shown, but it will be visible somewhere in this post

Why i've created it

I am deutan and I am learning pixel art (i might be crazy idk) and am struggling to pick a color that i want to use. So if i want to pick e.g. green i can use this tool to just tell me if what i am looking at is a shade of green, and not some shade of brown so i don't "accidentally" color my leaves brown like i did in school which ruined a great deal of paintings i've had

I noticed that i couldn't find a tool like this, so i decided to make it. Note: I know i can just copy rgb to good old LLM's, but i found it tedious when i just wanted to know the "base type" of a color

My nephew is red green colorblind, as am I. He just turned 16 and will be driving soon. I made this shirt for him as a joke.

It’s a traffic light, with only the amber lit up.

So I just found out that my girlfriend is colourblind and while going through some generic tests I came across this image on the enchroma website that she says looks identical both sides.

Is it worth paying for a proper test? Or maybe buying the £300 glasses as a gift? Do they even work?

I'm really not sure what the best thing to do is but I feel like she is missing out on so much! Any help is appreciated 😊

making these is always difficult for me because some of the colors hurt my brain but lately i've been wondering if i'm colorblind(some form of tritanomaly specifically) and i just want to know if my concerns are valid?

the ??? segments are the colors that were difficult for me to separate and i did try to make sure my computer's colors were as correct as possible,,

Everytime I’ve ever taken a colorblind test, virtual or physically in school, I had been told I was red green colorblind. The thing is though I think I can see red and green just fine. The only time I’ve ver had trouble is like distinguishing dark blues from a black or certain light blues and grays. Am I actually colorblind or just susceptible to color blindness tests. I wear glasses and have a pretty strong prescription if that might mean anything.

Then I remembered from my time living in Pittsburgh that this was a rarity.

Hi. I can see almost every color, but not instantly. I have to look at it for a few seconds, or it has to be a bigger object. My problematic colors are Red/Green. I can't do the numbers in circles. Is this tritanopia? Is there any good test for it?

Hello all! My partner is red green colorblind (I think Protanopia and Deuteranopia?) he can’t see either shade at all and sees in yellows and blues.

His colorblindness doesn’t always come up very often because he’s used to living with it- but there are times where it’s impacted him in small ways and I know it’s kind of distressing to him.

I have a website that I use to see through a filter, it helps with gifts and a general understanding of what he sees when there’s a misunderstanding, that has been the most helpful I think.

hey guys, i built a simple web game called RGB Gaslighter where you have 2 seconds to decide if two color blocks are identical or slightly different.

it's already hard for people with normal vision, but i realized i haven't tested it at all for colorblindness. just pushed a multiplayer update too so you can room up with friends.

honestly curious how it feels for you guys. is it totally impossible to play, or can you manage to tell them apart by looking at brightness/saturation shifts? let me know what specific color pairs are the absolute worst for your type.

Im Deutan colorblind and can't really see this color, I believe it's called Teal. What's your opinion on the color of the painting that I drew? How weird is it?
