It’s getting ridiculous looking for spots. You can barely find any bikes at 5:45AM departing from Grand Central but coming back for an appointment, there’s lines of people waiting for docks.

I don't normally keep enough money in my Citibank accounts to quality for Citigold, but I had it for a while last year and got a free one-year Citibike membership out of it. Since then I dropped down to Citibank's lower tier but was able to keep the membership because it's yearly, not month by month.

Anyway, I've qualified for Citigold again (and I know it will only be temporary). Anyone know if I can get another 1 year Citibike membership?

Daily e-bike rider here, unlocked a brand new one yesterday. Clean, pristine handles and basket, neat numbers. Even sort of smelled new. Midtown East.

Forgot how much smoother they ride than the usual.

I’m visiting in a couple weeks, is it nerdy to bring my helmet? Does anyone bring a helmet?

EDIT: Okay, I guess what I meant was - would you bring a helmet with you to ride Citi Bikes? Do tourists wear helmets around the city? Do the bikes even get to speeds? It’s a shame that places don’t rent helmets. My city doesn’t even offer helmets for them.

I just docked a bike (confirmed the green light and the bike being locked) and thought it was done, but then I checked the app and saw it was still counting my ride as ongoing. On closer inspection the number on the bike didn’t match what the app said I was riding. I contacted support and they said they couldn’t do anything since the numbers didn’t match, so now I’m worried about getting charged for a lost bike.

This sucks because having used citibike many times over years, I’m really careful and always wait for the green light and try to pull the bike out again to confirm it’s locked (I’ve definitely seen my fair share of orange warning lights and had to retry or use a different dock), but it seems like there was no way for me to get this right here. Has anyone run into a glitch in their system like this before?

Do you know how fucking insane it is to be going full speed to enter/take a turn into a bike lane in the WRONG direction?

For the month of July — and it’s only the 14th — I’ve had 6+ encounters of direction @ full speed.

Thankfully, every encounter has ended with just heavy braking or an immediate swerve to avoid collision but these close calls are ringing louder & louder.

I usually keep a rough count of all the nuances & dangers as a cyclist & these wrong wayers are definitely climbing through the ranks.

Just yesterday it happened again, causing me to write this post.

Anybody else has been experiencing this?

Found at Prospect Park West and 8th st station tonight (7/14). Let me know what else is on the key ring and we can meet up.

Would CitiBike flag an account if the account owner unlocked a bike for another person to ride but didn’t also ride their own bike? I am curious if CitiBike would detect that the phone associated with the account was not following with the rider and would then flag the account.

I see only bikes at each station, but no P to toggle to available open docks to confirm parking availability or abundance at the destination.

how does it work, is it just a promo code to enter at checkout? Or does my citibike account need to be my work email? any success stories?

Bike lane not painted green yet...looks like it's gonna be 2 lanes. One lane totally blocked by parked Delivery Bikes, Carts and Cars. Wegmans has dedicated parking for delivery vehicles on 8th st block.

A lot of people didn't bike home tonight due to the rain so there won't be very many open docks tomorrow morning downtown so plan ahead.

The latest round of Citi Bike expansions is wrapping up. Bay Ridge, Kensington, Riverdale, Norwood, Rego Park, and Forest Hills are all installed. Brownsville and East New York should be running soon. It's time to start thinking about which areas Citi Bike should prioritize next. One day I'd like to see the whole city covered!

I'm by no means an expert, but these are the 5 areas that should be prioritized next in my opinion.

Today I had to try and dock an electric Citibike in Midtown. It was literally unusuable because every dock was full. I must have visited a dozen docks, many of which showed availability, but frustratingly the dock would not take the bike.

Is there a good hack to park in Midtown during the late morning commute? Alternatively, is there any chance Citibike is going to expand dock sizes (and yes, I know some of the docs are enormous already). Or alternatively, maybe the Bike Angel program should have more dynamic incentives to encourage repositioning acitivity?

It's a major impediment to broader Citibike adoption.
