Posting in this sub is no longer limited to “approved” users! If you see any posts from people who think this is about a regular hospital and not our specific Brazilian hospital (which is of course where we all know it is located) please report them to the mod team.

My Sickle Cell Anemia SC journey

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I wanted to open up and share a major update about what’s been going on in my life as of recently. As some of you may know, my name is Maximus Ortiz-Brown, I am 19 years old and I work as a kids Entertainment Supervisor at Great Wolf Lodge. What a lot of people don’t know about me is that I was born with a blood disease called Sickle Cell Anemia (SC), a condition that turns my normal red blood cells from a circle into a sickle shape or kind of like a half moon. Because of this, my blood gets clogged easily, restricting blood and oxygen delivery and resulting in a pain crisis. A pain crisis is a form of pain that I get from my disease, leading to pain ranging from my bones, my back, my chest, and any limbs on my body, coming in forms of stabbing, throbbing, and excruciating pain.

As of last Monday, after pushing through a rough 6-day work week, I finally had a day off on June 29th. I was supposed to spend that day saying goodbye to my younger sister, who is moving to Michigan with my mom and stepdad for college. Instead, I woke up to unbearable pain in my chest that left me unable to breathe, and fighting alongside excruciating pain in my lower back. I am currently living with my best friend because my parents are leaving, and thankfully she was there to call an ambulance. They gave me a breathing tube and got me to the hospital safely. Because of my Sickle Cell, severe pain is something I’ve grown up having to fight since I was a kid. Since the age of 8, I’ve routinely received epidurals to numb the lower half of my body during severe crises. It’s always been routine for me up until this time on Monday, June 29th. Unfortunately, the procedure went wrong for the first time, and a blood clot formed in my back right next to my spine. I had to be rushed into immediate thoracic spine surgery to remove the clot, a complex procedure where surgeons had to adjust my spine and place titanium plates.

Tragically, since the surgery, I have had no feeling from my belly button down. Right now, I am pushing myself every single day in physical therapy, working as hard as I can to get my body moving again. While we haven't seen results just yet, I am refusing to let this break my spirit. I am staying as positive, optimistic, and hopeful as possible for the future. I will be in the hospital for about 3 months, and the funds raised will help cover medical bills, support my recovery, and help me get back on my feet after leaving the hospital. I also need a stair machine to access the bathroom in my house and to also get upstairs. Any help, prayers, or kind words you can offer mean the world to me during this recovery. Thank you all so much for your incredible love and support. It keeps me going.

The Hindenburg Explodes!

Did anyone see this? I read somewhere that this pilot aired once on Adult Swim, but it only has 78 ratings and 0 reviews on IMDB, which makes me wonder whether that's true.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, this was going to be a new Corddry/Stern 15-minute comedy series ten years ago, with stupid, stupid Nazis on The Hindenburg, exploding every week. Unfortunately, A Political Thing happened, and Adult Swim decided that it didn't want to touch anything that could ever be construed as taking a political stance. Even about Hogan's Heroes-type Nazi characters, apparently.

Song at the end of season 5 episode 2?!

Does anyone happen to recognize the song at the end of season 5 episode 2? It's what's sung by the cast as my old partner Chance Briggs is being dragged away to war. Sounds like a "hair"-esque musical number, but Shazam has no guesses and I can't find anything online. Maybe it was written for the show?

Thanks!

My administrators could only dream of being this hilarious. They are definitely as incompetent as this.

Love this show!

So glad I found this show again. Been a few years or so, when I watched it again. It's funny and messed up! Love the dark humor. Some episodes are alright. Can't stop laughing! Worth it to make a Tubi account finally! After using it all these years!

Attention staff: Children’s Hospital is on Tubi. I’d kiss you goodbye but I don’t want to catch brain cancer.

Boy I *really* don't remember season 7 Spoiler

because in episode 6 (DOY) Owen fucks his mom and that's like the C plot.

I can only imagine where this show would've gotten to if they had an eight season.

Episode missing from Tubi

Any idea why episode 702 is missing?

According to IMDb, that's One Million Saved:

A rare disease appears at Childrens Hospital, and the team has to journey into the buried remains of the original Childrens Hospital with Val's alter-ego, Derrick Childrens, to find the cure. Meanwhile, the rest of the doctors desperately try to save the hospital's landmark millionth patient.

I only watched season 7 once and don't remember this episode at all.

* Tubi labels it as season 6 but that's actually the seventh season

Delocated is a quality show but this reminded me of that kid from Children’s not grasping the concept of death

When is Rory Spindel first mentioned? Spoiler

This is probably my third rewatch (thanks, Tubi!) and I just finished watching My Friend Falcon.

I was certain there's a behind the scenes episode in season 5 where they explain that Rory Spindel took over after Cutter's death but it wasn't mentioned in this episode. The only mention of Rory I found so far is in Rob Corddry's credits at the end of this episode.

Did I miss anything, or do they only explain this in the later seasons?

I’ve tried uploading this like 5 times but it wouldn’t work, and realized the first frame I had was a kid with a knife in his chest so Reddit kept flagging it.

Episode young Blake walks into the bar where the clowns are day drinking?

Please help!

Which Episode?

Anyone know which episode it was that Dr. Blake actually cured a kid with the power of laughter, and afterwards, had a tender moment with the mom then tried to kiss her/ask out like 4 times?

TIL: CH was the cause for 4 other shows being made

(This might already be common knowledge to others but I had no idea)

NTSF:SD:SUV & Eagleheart weren’t actual shows. Fake previews of them were aired as segments with Childrens Hospital and then they became their own shows.

Newsreaders was picked up as its own actual TV show.

Medical Police - obvious one.
