Kerwin Vargas appreciation!

I love kerwin Vargas. He’s an amazing attacker, gives off great vibes, is unique and fun to watch, and I will forever miss him at this club. His flipping will always be remembered here, and hopefully we can look back at his time in Charlotte as one of the players that shaped what it meant to be part of the CLT FC, and one day immortalized in club history. Thank you Kerwin. I and many other wish you success wherever you go.

Howler - A Saint in Queen City

Hi everyone!

Some of you might remember Howler Magazine. I'm part of the team bringing it back, and I've just written a piece on Charlotte FC and the signing of Allan Saint-Maximin.

Quick note (and thank you to the mods for flagging) :the site currently shows an email prompt, but you don't need to use your real email. Enter anything and it'll still let you read. At this stage I’d just really love people to read, enjoy, and give feedback!

The mailing list isn't active yet; we’re thinking a fortnightly roundup of content sometime in the future.

For those who'd rather not click through, the article argues that Charlotte have quietly become one of the most interesting projects in MLS. Dean Smith has steadily built a genuine identity, the club has developed a unique matchday culture in a remarkably short time, and Saint-Maximin feels like a perfect fit; a player capable of producing the kind of moments that can elevate Charlotte to another level.

I'd genuinely love to hear what Charlotte fans think, whether you agree or disagree.

Thanks for reading!

MLS 3.0 Thoughts

Curious what everyone's thoughts are on the ongoing discussion around MLS 3.0. It seems like we're getting closer to seeing some major changes over the next year or so with the calendar flip to align with Europe and the divisional format. League executives have also spent a lot of time talking about how MLS has spent the last decade building infrastructure, from soccer specific stadiums to top class training facilities.

The last component that seems to be on the table is roster rules. What would you like to see?

Personally, I'd love to see the system simplified. Do away with GAM & TAM, raise the salary budget and give clubs more flexibility in how they build their rosters. I recognize star players are important from a commercial standpoint so something like a $20M salary budget with a couple of DPs feels like it would do a lot to improve the overall quality of the league.

Discussion Knight Costume at Game

Upvotes

I know the club is young and the culture is still forming, but when I went to a game a few years ago, I saw they went pretty heavy on the medieval, knights, fortress, queen theme. If you saw a guy--me, for example--in the stands with a "knight costume" with a blue tabbard with the club crest, would it make sense immediately? Do y'all pick up on/like the medieval motifs?

Sit in the Supporters Section for MLS ASG?

Thoughts on sitting in the supporters' section with my 14 YO son? Or should I just pony up the extra $ for other tickets? TIA.

Hi Charlotte fans, I'm Danny! I am one half of TLDR FC, a soccer channel aimed at introducing the sports culture to more people. We're planning a weekly deep dive into a different club and our main focus is the MLS. Rather than relying solely on our research, we wanted to reach out to supporters to hear their stories and their tips/advice for new supporters.

If you have the time to give some insight about your experience as a CLTFC supporter, we'd greatly appreciate it and would love to feature your response on our show that hopes to introduce soccer culture to the broader public!

Looking forward to reading your stories <3

Free ticket for tomorrow’s game.

Using an alternate account. I have a ticket available for tomorrow nights game if anyone is interested. My seats are really nice but no one else can go with me so I’m trying to find a buddy. I only ask you come with an open and non judgmental mind as I will have a couple of drinks and will swear but nothing embarrassing. Also posnan won’t be expected but I’ll happily participate if you want.

It would be cool if you have never been to a game but I don’t have any requisites other than above. I guess time maybe. I like to get there a little early. 30 minutes to an hour preferred. It is a derby game so it’s going to be intense. I’m happy to talk through questions as well if you are newer to the game.

FOR THE CROWN!

I have 1?supporters section tickets for the match tomorrow that I’m willing to let go of for a few bucks each. Gutted because my family and I waited for this match for nearly 5 months, but schedule doesn’t permit our attendance. If interested shoot me a PM.

Discussion Timbers Supporter Coming in Peace

I'm a Timbers Supporter who just happens to be in Charlotte for business Wednesday. Thought I'd come to the match, because fuck Atlanta. Where should I stand?

I was thinking about 125 next to GA. Are there any specific standing sections outside of GA?
