Thinking of naming a character Remus— would it throw you off?
Hi all! Just joined today because I’m looking for some genuine advice— I’m looking to write/brainstorm a fantasy series, but I’m hung up on names (as always, lmao).
One of my main protagonists is going to be a male alchemist, so of course I’m looking for more unique, creative, and alluring names. I personally love Remus and think it would fit the character’s vibe wholeheartedly, however it’s obviously strongly associated with the Harry Potter series.
So I’d like some honest feedback; would seeing this name in a separate series throw you off? Would it be too reminiscent of JK Rowling, and should I continue my search?
Honest criticism and feedback would be most appreciated! Thank you all!

Suggestion Thoughts on characters with hyphenated / two surnames?
So, I'm writing a story just for fun that is set in the 2000s and one of the characters is a middle-aged man half-German half-Italian in a primarily Anglophone country and works as a professor. And I was wondering what people's opinions on giving him a non-Italian name like "Anthony"? Would it be weird?
Especially since his surname already is an Anglicized German surname (Think: "White" from "Weiß," or "Stone" from "Stein," or "Newman" from "Neumann" or even just the German/Danish surnames "Lau / Lang")
For context, there's another character which is a secondary central character who's a half-French Canadian half-Russian by the name of "Alexandra" (However, she's called a non-Russian nickname by the professor (Think "Lexi" or "Allie" or "Sandra") and "Anya" by her Russian mother.
I did consider some Italian names such as "Luca" (Felt that sounded too young for a middle-aged man) "Francesco" IDK though.

MMC Name Suggestions
I'm writing a typical American high school story on Wattpad and need a name for my MMC. Idk if this helps, but he plays "soccer" and is 17 years old. I'm open to any name, but I'm not fond of names that start with C, B, D, R, or G. Also, it could come from any ethnicity/race. I'm open!

Discussion Could you help me choose a realistic name for my Belgian character?
He is around 38-40
Here's his personality:
Quiet and extremely introverted.
Lives a solitary life and avoids unnecessary conversations.
Calm, polite, and emotionally restrained.
Highly disciplined and follows the same routine every day.
Patient and observant, often watching more than speaking.
Carries a deep emotional wound from childhood.
Fascinated by horses, especially what they represent: freedom, strength, and dignity.
His fascination gradually develops into an unusual psychological obsession.
He is unsettling not because he is aggressive, but because he is impossible to read.
I'm looking for a name that sounds authentically Belgian (French-speaking or Dutch-speaking is fine) and feels ordinary on the surface, but memorable enough for a mysterious psychological character.

DnD deity name?
This is my first time making a dnd oc (idk if that’s the right term?) and it’s a cleric who is supposed to worship a deceiver like deity who poses as someone much higher and righteous than they truly are, any gender neutral names that have a meaning to trickery or deception for that deity? Name idea for the cleric can also be helpful if you’re up to it :)

There is the character I want to name.
He is a heavily muscled, tan man with one white eyes, long, messy black hair, and a full beard. He has a lot scar running across his face and forearms. He is tough but also kind. He likes to stay quiet most of the time.
I want to name him scar but in japanese so anyone has a flashier, cooler name for him.

Request Character name help?
Okay, I’m making a story (a comic currently, but I can’t draw, so it’s just bubbles of talking and random SFX and descriptive/action things). The main character’s name is Vantali, with his nickname being Vani, which I love, but the second MC’s name is Eurinique. I hate that so much for him, it just doesn’t fit. His nickname is Eurie, which I do want to keep because it flows nicely, but I’m not sure what his actual name should be, and I’ve been thinking for like two hours now. Can anyone help with ideas?

Danforth
Edit: formatting
As a young man, he hadn't given his name much thought, beyond the natural "why this one" probings of a child asking every possible question the instant it pops to mind.
His mother only offered a vague "He was a character in a book I read long ago. Eat your broccoli so you can have some of the brownies I made."
A book. His mother was part book. Her fingers were more often curled into the pages of one than not. Her face, not soft but not yet hardened to diamond, was most often a Kilroy behind whatever newest treasure she'd discovered in the library.
Dan was also a reader, but his interests rarely crossed with hers. For her, it was histories, old fiction, and biographies.
His intrests ran through the darker murder mysteries (his mom: 'just can't sleep if I read that'), spectulative fiction and sci-fi ('cowboys in space'), science fantasy ('space opera'), mysticism and spoof religions ('pfft!), and a wide range of other topics.
Later ruminations on his name included that it sounded more like a command or exhortation: Dan! Forth into the wilderness with ye, to find adventure, food, and your fortune!
The first time he was called "Dan the Man!" was in high school when he managed to come through with a 12 pack of mediocre beer for a small party.
It was nothing he could repeat.. a complete fluke, really. In preparing for a fishing trip, his father had packed everything but one twelver of piss beer.
Filler beer. He and his buddies would likely never notice it missing, there would be so much suds floating around.
So he'd filched it and hidden it long enough to let a couple friends know. They all met up in the big park, well hidden in a spot they'd been coming to for years for less nefarious purposes.
When he arrived, a couple people were already there, and they greeted him with claps on the back and declarations of "It's Dan the Man! Hell yeah, let's have a brew!"
For the next week, amongst his friend group, he was sometimes greeted as such, especially at first. It tailed off gradually to a very occasional reference.
The next time it happened, it was much different. Dan the Man was not him.
Daniel (Dan, yell!) Eriksson had caught a seemingly impossible pass to score the winning touchdown at a home game, and been turned into the schoolwide "Dan the Man".
It hadn't even been that important of a game.
Dan Eriksson was the hero, though, and a very public one at that. Such a small school, small town, small fishbowl atmosphere insured that he was the man.
He played basketball as well as football. The announcers refered to him by his nickname, and even though his average was about the same as everyone else, the shots he made seemed somehow more impactful.
At least the crowd thought so.
Danforth wasn't necessarily bothered by these developments, but it did make him ponder.
Was every person named Dan or any derivitave, at some point their life, destined to be "Dan the Man"?
Is there some deterministic frequency in the universe that insists upon this happening? Are these the extra dimensions that String Theory proposes?
It didn't happen again until he'd graduated and started work in an office, in a bigger town. After a period lost in the shuffle as a new hire, he started recognizing people, and had little conversations with them during lunch or on ergo breaks.
One day, one of his work acquaintences was upset. His printer was broken and he had a crushing deadline. Tech support told him it would be at least two hours before someone could be sent over.
Danforth said, "I'll take a look at it for you. I have a little experience with tech."
He didn't, really, but he did have a willingness to try. The worst outcome would be that he couldn't fix it. At least he tried, and this might at least help his coworker feel a bit better.
When they got to the printer, he opened it up and took out each of the cartridges. He blew carefully into each, unsure where air might go in.
He fiddled with a few bits and bobs under the hood, took a tissue and wiped some dust out of the area, then put everything back together.
When it turned back on, his new friend was able to print after a small amount of wrangling.
"Dan the MAN!" he said enthusiastically "You got it! Hell yeah. Thank you!"
It felt good to be helpful. The rest of his duties weren't really rewarding, and no one ever thanked him for doing them.
Two days later, another person approached him, this time with a minor computer issue.. something to do with cursor speed. He knew what settings to adjust, and it was a simple fix.
"I hear you're the man when it comes to tech!" she said, by way of introduction, and, "Oh my god, thank you SO much!" when he was done.
During the next week, three people came to him.
Within a month, he was the informal tech guru for the entire department, and his regular work was beginning to suffer.
Dan the Man was starting to feel like going back to Danforth, the mostly anonymous drone. The thank yous tailed off and the issues became knottier and more difficult to resolve.
He began doing research during his time off to learn more about the issues he was being presented.
Three months in, he had a performance review, and things were not good. His manager said things like "productivity metrics" and "inactive time" and "socializing".
Future consequences were mentioned. He took note.
On Monday, his first "customer" arrived at ten thirty in the morning with USB issues.
"Who am i?"
"You're the tech guy."
"No, that's where you're wrong. I am Danforth, formerly Dan the Man. You may go."
Things were quiet again. 'Fuck Dan the Man,' he thought, when he felt a bit meditative, 'that guy is a pain in the ass."

What would be a good name to oppose "Wreckoner"
So in my story there are lots of gods, but two matter mkre than any other. First and foremost is the Wreckoner.
(The names was inspired by combining wreck and reckoning, sounds so cool)
Anyways, the Wreckoner is the prophesied destroyer of the world, It who shall herald the end of the gods, of the world, if all creation. Its role in the mythos is a combination of the Devil and several destroyer deities like Apep.
Anyways the only being that can stand against it is the Savior (placename until i can figure out something better) a figure that is one part Jesus and one part Buddha. The problem is is I need a good thematic equivalent.
Whereas the Wreckoner brings judgement and destruction to all. The "Savior" is supposed to bring salvation and redemption to all. Where the wreckoner destroys the Savior creates. Where the Wreckoner brings damnation the Savior brings redemption. You get the gist.
I need a thematic equivalent like the Wreckoner, but something that is like a portmanteau like the wreckoner is. Its how the gods are named in my lore, and I know Savior is good, but just feels lazy. Anyone have any ideas?

Japanese Name Generator
I discovered this site on Twitter. [https://tools.roleplaying.jp/tools/japanese\\_name\\_generator/**\]**(https://tools.roleplaying.jp/tools/japanese_name_generator/)
It generates random Japanese names based on actual name data. From my perspective as a Japanese person, the names it produces feel less like the common, everyday names you encounter frequently in real life, and more like the slightly unusual or rare names found in novels and anime. That might actually make them great for TTRPGs, though.
You can use this site with some translation tools. Enjoy!

I need some name ideas for a story I'm writing.
I'm not going to give any more information about the story because I just kind of want some names that aren't specific to the story. Unique, general, any meanings or roots. Just a name that you like, girl, boy, unisex, and any age. I need quite a few.

Request Help me name a super-powered killer
To my players if you run across this: this is Witness writing this. Please do not read if you don’t want massive spoilers for the next game.
TL:DR supervillain that can steal powers is on a revenge quest that becomes an enhanced person extinction event. I need a supervillain name.
Hello Reddit, I’m in desperate need of help. I am trying to name the main supervillain of a Masks: a New Gen game and I’ve been shit out of luck so far.
Her name civilian name is Enya Tophet. She was a regular human before an experiment gone wrong by her partner/local hero, The Valkyrie.
The city the Valkyrie protects is struggling to keep up with its supervillains and the city government is resistant to aid from the outside and distrusts mutants. In order to keep afloat, the Valkyrie starts looking into creating a way for regular humans to fight back against superhuman threats. The plan was to make Enya a mechanical suit/set of wings that allows her to fight as if she had powers. During the first trial run, something terrible goes wrong and Enya gets horribly injured which leads to massive burn scars and the inability to see out of one eye. Enya blames the Valkyrie for this incident.
After she recovers, she begins to seek revenge on The Valkyrie and the rest of the city for what has been done to her. Later on her quest, she gains the ability to steal other peoples powers permanently through magic. Her goal becomes more than revenge after gaining this power. Her new goal is to level the playing field completely by stealing the powers of and killing off both the heroes and supervillains within the city. Her first move within my game is to “kill off” (it goes wrong, she ends up kidnapping her instead because the power transfer doesn’t work as intended) The Valkyrie and steal her powers.
Now for her supervillain name. She names herself and I have no idea what to make her alias. I’ve been trying to go with mythology to fit with the Valkyrie but I am not finding a good fit. I can’t use Greek myths because she later gets into a fight with a different group of villains that are named after characters from Greek myths and I don’t want my players to be confused by which side she is on, so both Icarus and Prometheus is out.
If you all have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. It does not have to be myth related at all, I’m just looking for something cool and thematic

Suggestion Names for magicians
I'm looking for names for the main cast of my science-fantasy magical girl story, it's about a traveling group of young magic-users known as "Prismas" that were imbued with the magical energy from the pages of an alien wizard's grimoire, so they travel to different realms to find the owner of the grimoire.
Each Prisma has a signature color and an elemental affinity that originate from a page from the grimoire:
• White Prisma - Light
• Red Prisma - Fire
• Yellow Prisma - Electric
• Blue Prisma - Water
• Violet Prisma - Air
• Pink Prisma - Love
• Green Prisma - Plant

- Rory
- Autumn, or Vivica
- Kimora, Erosa, or Sora
- Gavyn
- Ryley, Ryen, Ryder, or Riyn
- Izabelle, Imelda, Irina, Ivana, Ingrid, or Ivy
- Jovian
- Samson
- Sameran
- Ellie, Evelyn, Elaria, or Elara
- Lexyn, or Lexis
- Dani, Donna, Dawn, Diora, Diana, or Dalia
- Eddie, or Elias
- Jason
- Kal, Kalyn, or Kassian
- Tym

the theme of the story is sort of medieval, but it is technicly modern times, because all the characters are from a speices that is human like, but better, and they used to have contact with humans but got in a fit and "dissapeared" so their names are like reular human names, but a little different.
please give me feedback on which names you do and don't like, and which from eac hnumber you like the best, i.e. "14. Eddie, or Elias, I like Edie better because __________."

Help me think of a name for my character?
So I have a charscter I’m writing. I won’t go into full details because it’s a lot and it’s not important. all that’s important is his background and culture. I care very much about historical accuracy. it’s my main priority when writing.
So pretty much he’s from ancient Spain, Iberian and of higher status. I’ve done research but all I ever find are generic Hispanic names. Im just looking for some ideas or advice. just to see if there are any better ideas here.
