For context, let me add that I plan on planting Spartan Juniper along the three sides of the yard which are considered highly deer resistant. Plus in time they will grow to over 8’ tall, which they won’t be able to jump over at all. So the only vulnerable spots would be the gates on the side yards that would be limited to 4’ high, and obviously can’t have an immovable obstruction behind them to keep deer out. Has anyone figured out a way to overcome this dilemma? Thanks in advance, I would really appreciate any suggestions!

Was wondering what everyones thoughts on the massive population increase we are getting in the next couple years. I was looking on the towns development map and noticed the three spots on Founders and then two more on N. Ridge across from King Soopers that is set to add 2,365 single family, joint or dwellings in general. Based off how things went when the 25 was shut down, I don’t think the infrastructure can handle that much of a population growth.

Anyone else having issues with their xfinity internet? Last night it went out and then was working late in the evening. This morning it’s sort of working but not really. Their app says I’m in the middle of an outage but the outage map doesn’t show anything? Anyone else having issues?

I’m in SW Pennsylvania currently. Lived in my city my entire life so lately I’ve been researching for something new but comfortable. Things that I am wanting is accessibility to outdoor recreation. I have a dog and we go hiking and camping a lot. We currently live about 30/45 mins away from our local state park - so I’d like to stay around that range when it comes to our outdoor recreation. For jobs - I’m currently a general manager of a fast food restaurant and that’s honestly the only experience I have at the moment - so I will be looking for jobs related or close to that field. As of right now I don’t have much else going on in my life for me to consider - and that’s what’s spurring the urge to move and continue my personal “growth” else where as I feel my city doesn’t have too much opportunities for one to grow past the position I am in now. I guess I’m just curious how castle rock might compare to the few points I’ve mentioned based on the experience of those that live here now.

I'd like to head into Rampart Range west of town to test out some new camping gear, probably mid-week. There seems to be a big mix of private land in the Pike National Forest that makes it hard to find where to go using Google Maps. Does anyone have the scoop on the best roads to drive down to find dispersed camping spots that aren't riddled with ATV/OHV riders?

I have been speaking with local legislators and was informed that if our BOCC didn’t spend money like this they could actually give back some of the surplus money and LOWER OUR PROPERTY TAXES.

The population in Douglas County has grown from 5,000 in the 1950s, to approximately 400,000 today (Census.gov). That's a growth of about 80x or 8,000%.

We have had the same number (3) of county commissioners since the 1950s, despite the growth in population and supporting commercial entities.

According to data collected by the National Association of Counties, the average number of county commissioners (or board supervisors) for U.S. counties with a population between 375,000 and 425,000 is 5 members.

We need to change the number of commissioners from 3 to 5 in order to provide:

✅️ Smaller districts and more local representation

✅️ More voices in county decisions

✅️ Reduced concentration of power

✅️ Greater accountability to residents

✅️ Broader representation for growing communities

✅️ More balanced decisions on growth, roads, housing, open space, and public safety

This petition will help Commissioners do their jobs better. They have had to severely restrict the ability of residents who wish to speak at their meetings, and have even resorted to closed doors meetings (illegal under current law).

A court recently decided that the Douglas County Board of Commissioners violated the state's open meetings law by holding 11 closed, unnoticed meetings and three improper executive sessions between December 2024 and April 2025
