You jump onto the county humane society website and it's just wall-to-wall pit bulls. Some are mixes. Some are misleadingly labeled as "Labrador Retrievers." But they're all pit bulls.
You jump onto Edmunds.com and it's just wall-to-wall Jeeps. Want a manual 4x4? Your options are different colors of Wrangler. Want a bright color like orange or yellow? Which Compass were you thinking of getting?
It makes sense. Pit bulls are numerous, cheap, and easy to obtain. Backyard breeders aren't asking for references of your previous pet ownership. Jeeps are numerous, cheap, and easy to obtain. Stellantis can't be choosy about to whom they extend credit. They're Stellantis: Truly the puppy mill of automotive manufacturers.
Sure, some people set out specifically to get a Jeep or pit bull. But most just want something vaguely tough-looking to give them some street cred. That can be a big, jacked-up off-roader that handles like shit and is only used for grocery runs. It can also be a poorly-socialized dog with 300+ PSI of bite force that stays chained up alone in the back yard all day.
Either way, you're taking them back to the dealership/pound after 6 months once they grow a little older. By that time, they aren't quite as cute as when you first got them, and you realize that owning one is an actual responsibility.
Adopt, don't shop for Stellantis vehicles, you guys.
