Hi, I’m going to the Cape with my in laws in August. They are from another country and don’t know what to expect, but my MIL has purchased tons of fancy clothes. We’re staying in Brewster which isn’t ideal, but I’ve got to plan things that will live up to her expectations. I don’t see the Cape as a fancy place and we will not have time to go to Martha’s Vineyard/Nantucket. Any recommendations on nice restaurants (where people dress nicer than casual)? Or decent shopping? P-town recs? Nice cocktail bars? We’ll definitely be driving towards Hyannis and P-Town at some point, so willing to drive a bit for things.

Hi all! We are taking a multigenerational family trip to Cape Cod the first week of October. This will be our first time. We will be there ~6.5 days total. There are 8 of us, with ages ranging from 1-67 (two toddlers). We are staying in Chatham and can walk to downtown.

We generally enjoy food, golf, excursions (sailing tours/whale watching, etc) and walking around to explore. Open to day trips and visits to neighboring towns. Don’t want to over schedule and want plenty of down time but aiming for one activity per day with 1-2 restaurants scoped out.

A few specific questions:

What is the vibe in early October? Is it less crowded, are things shut down?

Any must-do activities? Thinking a whale watching tour may be too long and cold for this group.

What are the must-hit restaurants, coffee shops, breweries in Chatham and nearby? Preferably not wildly fancy given the toddlers.

What nearby towns are a must to explore?

We are thinking a day trip to Nantucket. What’s the best way to get there from Chatham?

Are reservations generally needed for restaurants that time of year?

Will it be warm enough to swim?

I'm hoping to visit Cape Cod this weekend but I'm having trouble deciding where to go. I'm looking for a place where I can have a fancy dinner and a nice beach both in walking distance from where I stay. I've checked out options in Hyannis, Yarmouth, and Sandwich, and would also love beach and restaurant recommendations. Im a 35M traveling with my partner and we're both happy to walk a ways just to give a sense of the vibe.

I have a last minute opportunity to spend a few days before I fly out of Boston Wednesday, and I’m considering a couple of days visiting Cape Cod. I’m planning to take a whale watching trip, maybe take a kayak tour, visit a beach or two, take a hike if that makes sense somewhere. Not interested in being seen or nightlife. I will have car for travel if needed.

Recommendations on where I should base from? Should I go in another direction altogether? Thanks in advance!

Looking for a casual dinner for Saturday night (tonight). Thinking maybe pizza? Fun/nice atmosphere (patio) would be a plus. Staying in Chatham, but willing to drive 15-20 min for the right place. One member of our party is from NY and a pizza snob. Rest of us are easy to please with a fresh salad and a slice, local craft beer on tap would be a plus. Thanks!

Looking to spend our 1 year anniversary on Cape Cod. We're (late 20s-early 30s) looking for a beach-y area with restaurants and views. We also want to travel to Nantucket and/or Martha's Vineyard for a day (has been on my bucket list since ever!!) Looked through this sub and online and I'm curious about the stays.

Are the hotels as nice as they look in the photos? Where should we look to stay with the above noted? We'd be going in mid-August and I'm looking for events/things to do but it's a bit hard with each place on Cape Cod offering such variety.

It's our 1 year and I have a feeling my beau will be asking me a very important question at some point during it so definitely need some views that will complement the moment.

We have a house booked for this Saturday to next Saturday in Chatham, 4 adults and 2 kids (age 4 and 1). It looks like the weather is going to be cool and rainy all next week - is that typical for the area?

If it is nice enough to go to the beach, which beach should we be going to with little kids? Are there any outdoor activities or excursions that are good for me to bring kids to?

If it’s rainy, is there anywhere I can bring kids indoors?

For adults - are there any fun bars in the area to go to? Any other excursions or activities?

Hi all! My family of five (includes 8yo girl and 5yo b/g twins) will be traveling from New Haven, CT to Eastham this Saturday. Check in for our rental in Eastham doesn’t start until 4pm, but we will be leaving our hotel in New Haven around 9am. Does anyone have suggestions of places to stop or activities that can help us enjoy the day as we make our way to Eastham? Open to all suggestions!!!

UPDATE (in case anyone is interested): we left NH at 9am as planned and are now on the Cape at 12:25pm, with two bathroom stops on the way. There was +7min of bridge traffic over the Bourne and we are headed to Sandwich to grab lunch!

Hello! I love photographing historic cemeteries and will be visiting Cape Cod for two days in September. I won’t have enough time to go to all the cemeteries on the peninsula I found in my online research (there are so many!), and I was wondering if any locals had recommendations for the most interesting ones?

By interesting, I mean those with unique or very old grave stones or monuments (Victorian era or older), or cemeteries where notable public figures are buried.

In case you’re concerned, I am always respectful of the cemeteries I visit and their gravesites. I disturb nothing and take only photos.

Hi All! Me again.. looking for a farm stand or corn recommendations near Eastham.

Anyone know of anywhere?

I know they both go to the same place but I'm wondering which is more recommended? We are starting out in Dennisport and it's two adults and older elementary kids. I like the idea of Hyannis Whale tour in Barnstable because it's closer driving...but maybe it's worth it to spend the whole day in PTown and go with Dolphin Fleet? We are only on the Cape for three days of free exploring before we have wedding festivities all weekend, so likely doing the whales on Wednesday or Thursday.
