Suppose member wants to wear belt with regimental or branch insignia. The buckles are only available separately without the belt. However, all the uniform belts available (on Logistik and Canex) come with the standard buckles, gold, silver, or black. Therefore, there will always be an orphan buckle if one chooses to wear branch buckle. Is there any place one can get just the black belt without a buckle?

So I am about to go on the year long french course in Trenton. Anyone who has recently completed it, how did you find it and what methods did you use to get proficient?

So after a training course failure (TDO), I'm looking at a COT. I had previously come from NWO. Both were academic related... For NWO, a very stressful family situation came up during training, and for TDO, I honestly couldn't get out of my own way in the TPWB process... I was trying to control the board process too much and wasn't taking input from my "SMEs" (it was a scenario, not a real board) properly and had some issues facilitating.

I should put out there that I'm 49, decently fit (Bronze on last FORCE test) and have been working on getting more fit and weight down lost close to 20 lbs since the start of the year.

I'd like to stay on the officer side, and I'm looking at the following options currently available : ACSO, AEC, Infantry and Artillery Officer.

I'm not a "bad" student and I absolutely see where I have had issues in my training, having received good feedback. I know I can use it constructively to be an even better officer. 

However, I also know that I could be steered in the direction of NCM trades, which I'm not against. It took me awhile to finally get into the CAF, and my desire to serve is strong.

Honestly, I'd rather do something more "active". A couple of colleagues have thrown out considering some of the following... Some of the CE trades, like electrical, and if staying on the Navy side, looking at operator trades like Nav Comm. I'd also consider trades like Vehicle Tech, MSE OP. There's a lot of options. 

Because I haven't treated my body too badly, I've also considered Sig OP and the main combat arms trades. Wish I could do IMG tech, but it's not available.

I don't feel that I'm above anything, and I truly want to serve and deploy.

Would appreciate any input on this.

I have agreed to sell my house in Edmonton on Fri 28 Aug. I decided to travel with commercial airline since I have a young baby instead of PMV. My possession date in Petawawa in on 2nd of September (also my RFD date).

I expect my pack/load/clean to be 25/26/27 Aug.

1. Would you request the HG&E to pick up your car a bit earlier? (Like a few dates earlier before the pack and load.)

2. If my TNL date will be on 28Aug, which coincides with the house closing date, can I request to travel the next date: 29 Aug?

Hello everybody, I spent the last month doing research and putting together this video on Canada’s army in the Korean War, specifically focusing on the Battle of Kapyong where 700 Canadian soldiers fought and beat 20,000 Chinese PVA soldiers. I would be overjoyed if you all would consider giving it a watch and hopefully it’s to your liking. This video was made with love and passion for the CAF and my want to keep CAF history alive, because before I got out of public school and into my own research I didn’t even know that we fought in Korea, and the same can be said for most Gen Z and millennials I’ve talked too. So this is my attempt at making sure we remember that whenever and wherever democracy is attacked, we as Canucks have fought tooth and nail to keep democracy alive and prevent tyranny and dictatorships from forming.

Was on scene of a civilian/civilian car accident, pretty serious. Before local FD had shown up, two dudes in uniform roll past in [photo attached]. Being a literal ambulance, we flag them down to assist and they outright refuse on the basis "yeah, we're military".

Am I insane for being absolutely furious at their refusal?

Extra context: I was NOT in uniform, in PMV, did not identify myself as CAF at any point.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar.

I’m a CAF member with 17 years in. I have been posted 7 times, and I’m due to be posted again later this year.

The issue is that my family cannot come with me due to a family court order involving my spouse and her child from a previous relationship. Because of that, I would have to go IR. The drive home would be about three hours minimum, likely worse with rush hour traffic, and doing that regularly while also working long days is not realistic. Financially, physically, and mentally, it would be brutal.

Over the past few years, my mental health has been at a drastic decline. I have on the brink of self-harm for a very long time and I have sought help from mental health and am currently on max doses of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. I am currently away on a course and even though I get to go home on weekends, leaving again each time has been extremely hard on my mental health. The separation from my family has been putting myself in a very bad place mentally. The thought of doing this long-term on IR is honestly mentally crushing me and I honestly don't think I can maintain it for any real length of time.

The hard part is that this is not a posting I dislike. It is actually a job I have wanted for, and working towards for about 10 years. The problem is that my mental health has declined over the years and now I genuinely do not think I can handle being away from my family like that.

I am not looking for a way to dodge work or avoid responsibility. I have 8 years left in the CAF and I am just trying to figure out what legitimate options exist before I hit a breaking point.

There are no open positions for Sgt's near me or at my current unit. I have been told by my CM that even if I declined my promotion, I would still be posted as I have been at my current posting for awhile now.

Has anyone dealt with a posting being reconsidered because of mental health, family circumstances, or medical limitations?

I am just trying to understand what options may exist and what the process actually looks like from people who have seen it or gone through it.

Worst case scenario is I push through it taking it one day at a time, but knowing that each day will increase the likelihood of me doing something bad to myself.

Any serious advice would be appreciated.

● What’s the overall lifestyle like? What’s day-to-day life in Comox/Comox Valley?

● What are some hidden gems around the area? Restaurants, breweries, hikes, beaches, fishing spots, weekend trips, etc.

● How’s the social scene for someone in their early 20s? Is it easy to meet people or is it pretty quiet?

● What’s the PMQ situation like? How long are the waitlists these days, and are the PMQs in good shape?

● If you rented off base, where would you recommend looking (Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland, Campbell River, elsewhere)?

● Any advice for someone arriving on their first posting? Things you wish you knew beforehand?

● Any tips or tricks for making life easier there?

I’d love to hear both the good and the bad. Everyone I’ve talked to seems to either absolutely love Comox or say housing is the biggest challenge, so I’m interested in hearing your experiences.

Many members with service injuries would qualify for the Federal Disability Tax Credit even while still working.

I wonder if your ability to deploy and work such a high stress job if you're not on MEL's or a PCAT may preclude you from qualifying though.

I'm wondering if it's worth putting in an application and if any still serving members have?

I've been in the CAF for ~2 years now, I never thought I'd want to transition as that thought has been buried deep in the back of my mind for about 7 or 8 years. But recently out of nowhere, I can not get the thought of transitioning out my mind.

What even would be the steps I'd need to take in order to do so? And are there any implications on doing so? I.e stopping me from getting deployed?

I haven't really looked too deep into this as rn I'm feeling very lost😅 so any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems awfully late and I haven't seen it yet? Anyone have an details about this? Thanks.
