So I found out I've been academically disqualified despite thinking I had everything ready to go next semester. I still have my campus housing set up and I can't find a way to apply back for fall classes. I tried emailing my counselor about this but I haven't gotten a response in days. I'm so stressed out right now what do I do next?

I'm enrolling in Calc II with John Ngo in the fall, and was wondering if I would need to pay to access the "Edfinity Online Homework Platform" or if I can somehow get it for free. If I have to pay, how much would it to purchase access for the program alone? I dont have any textbooks I need to buy so I'm hoping to avoid paying the instant access complete fee

Hi everyone! Unfortunately, the timing isn’t great, but I’ll be traveling out of state from September 3rd through September 9th to visit my family, whom I haven’t seen in a long time. I bought these tickets about two months ago, before I realized they would overlap with the start of the semester.
My academic advisors recommended that I email my professors, which I have already done, but they also mentioned that some may not respond yet since it’s still summer.
Has anyone been in a similar situation where they had to miss about a week of classes at the beginning of the semester? If so, how did it go, and how did your professors handle it? I’m especially curious about lab classes, since I know those can be harder to make up.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice.
I applied for the President’s Scholarship Scholarship, was invited to interview, and completed the interview. Afterward, I received an official congratulations email saying I was selected for the 2026–2027 award. I also received separate emails for the official photo shoot, Scholar Bio Survey, and thank-you selfie, and I completed all of them.
However, the scholarship still has not appeared in my portal. When I spoke with Financial Aid and Scholarships, they said they already had the recipient list, but my name was not on it. Since the program normally selects 25 students, I’m worried that the 25 spots may already be filled and that my selection email was sent by mistake.
Financial Aid asked me to forward the congratulations email and said they were checking with the awarding department. I have also copied the President’s Scholars office on all my emails, but it has now been over a week without an update.
This was not a random email sent to someone who never applied. I completed the full application and interview process and received multiple follow-up emails meant for selected scholars.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Do you think I could still be told I was not selected, or does this sound more like an administrative or communication issue between departments? What would you recommend I do next?

I have orientation Friday and will be starting my first semester this fall.
I read somewhere that an iPad will suffice for note taking and other activities during orientation. Will it also be adequate for my actual classes? I don’t want to buy and carry around a laptop if it’s not absolutely necessary.
I’m a transfer student and my major is science, technology, and society - AI ethics. And a minor in GIS.

What are your fave study spots to hit? I feel like there’s not much locally, but please share! Preferably with good AC and seating, thanks!!

Has anyone been able to figure out how to pay the orientation fee? I deferred the payment to July 19th my orientation day is on July 29th I got sent a link to Bill.com but it keeps sending me to a 404 link. I’m stressing out because the aid office isn’t open on weekends.

Can we please ban tripods in the bric?! There is zero reason it should be allowed to have been recording people in the background of the their videos who don't want to deal with any of that. There is actually no reason to record yourself working out unless you're that obsessed with yourself. If you need to record yourself just to see if you have proper form, then you clearly need to work on your form.

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming freshman majoring in Landscape Architecture this fall, and I’m starting to look into getting a new laptop.
Right now I have an HP Envy x360 convertible 15-ds1xxx that’s almost 7 years old (I’ve had it since covid 😭), so I think it’s finally time for an upgrade. I was hoping any current LA majors or alumni could share what laptops you use and what specs I should be looking for. My budget isn’t really a concern at the moment, so I’m open to any recommendations if it’ll last me throughout the program.
I’d also love to hear about your experiences. Are there any laptops you recommend or ones I should avoid? Since I’m still an incoming freshman, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey y’all! 👋 I’m thinking about taking either the weight lifting or badminton class next semester and was hoping to hear from anyone who’s taken either.
I already lift about 5 days /week, so I’m not looking for a beginner weight lifting course. I’m mainly interested because I’d like to build working out into my class schedule. I know I can always train outside of class, but having it on my schedule (and with a grade attached 😅) would help keep me accountable during a busy semester.
For those who’ve taken these classes:
Is the weight lifting class beginner-focused, or can people with lifting experience still benefit from it?
How is badminton for someone who’s never played before?
Would you recommend one over the other?

my parents are divorced for 5 yrs now and they absolutely despise each other and genuinely cannot be in the same room together for more than a singular minute but they both want to help me move in, is it possible to have multiple move in appointments like so for example I have one scheduled and after I do that one is it possible to have another one.
idk if this makes any sense at all, I haven't rlly found much clarification on what their boundaries are for how many move in appts a student can have bc both of my parents want to help me move in and i still want to maintain a decent relationship with both of my parents bc if i go with one only i feel like its massive favoritism as well as the fact that I still have equally important items at both parents houses so idk im confused ok

Hi everyone,
I'm an incoming first-year Chemical Engineering major and I'm looking to buy a laptop before classes start. What computer do you recommend? Is Windows better than a Mac for the software we'll use?
Thanks!

Hello! I want to ask if anyone has had experience working at Kellogg West. What departments do they have? What’s the work culture and scheduling like?

I'm so sorry if this is a stupid question, but how would I go about getting an ID? I've pushed back on getting an ID so far due to anxiety, and the fact I haven't needed one so far.
My friend has finally convinced me to get an ID, though hasn't responded to any of my questions so far. I'm just wondering about the process of getting one?
Like I know you have to go to the bookstore (?) and there's a thing on my account where I can send in a picture, but I'm still confused.
Where do I go to pick it up exactly? Are there any other steps I have to do? How long would the process take?
I'm sorry if this is a bit confusing, I'm just asking to help ease my anxiety.
Any type of answer would be helpful ❤️

they pack up and run when you call them out- because they seldom if ever have permission/a permit to be advertising here.
I cut in and told the people he was trying to attract what this newspaper is about and what they do, and this guy threatens to call the police on me for “harassment” (standing about 5ft from his desk, only warning passerby that he tried to engage), fake dials the police, then packs up immediately as soon as I confirmed that he lacked a permit and let him know that campus security is otw.
moral of the story: always shame these people. make it unprofitable for them by warning people that fold to the pressure and talk with them.

I’m freaking out right now because I forgot to pay my tuition for my Fall Semester 2026 classes. I was supposed to pay July 13 but forgot since I’m on vacation. I got dropped from my classes and now I’m frantic. Is there any chance I can get reinstated and get my classes back? I already emailed the office and will call them right when they open.

My financial aid offer keeps changing for 2027. Anybody else have this happening? Specifically it keeps going lower.
