Red Rocks Live 2018 Vinyl

Does anyone have a copy of CAKE's "Love You Madly" from this compilation? A Flac rip would be amazing, or even the 320kbps mp3 from the digital download card.

Thoughts on Pressure Chief?

I really enjoy listening to this album, but I’m pretty sure it’s also one of their most underrated ones. I’ve listened to this album on repeat multiple times. My top 5 songs are:

  1. Tougher Than It Is
  2. Take It All Away
  3. End of the Movie
  4. Palm of Your Hand
  5. The Guitar Man

I like this album because it has a very interesting sound. It also has a different pitch compared to the rest of the CAKE albums. They pulled off that weird blend of rock, pop, and country music really well. Gives it that unique sound. Not many bands can pull off this sort of sound which is what I like about this album. It just has a very distinct sound!

Anyways, what’s your thoughts on this album?

End of the Movie live

For reasons that hardly need to be stated, End of the Movie is one of the pithiest, most mordant and irrepressibly stoic expressions of human existence this side of Beckett. So much so, that it has become my go to bedtime song for my four year old daughter, who now knows the lyrics better than her ABCs. I’m finally seeing them in London in October, after decades of quietly loving the band. What are the chances this short sliver of perfection will be played? And, to the Cake completists, has it ever been played live?

I happen to have listened to Mr. Mastodon Farm (from Motorcade of Generosity) recently and that is immediately what I thought of when I saw this video.

Live Concert Downloads

I've been collecting Cake's live concerts for decades, but they're very hard to find. Many I've had to rip from Youtube or various other webcasts. Some are mp3s, some are audience recordings, while some are fantastic soundboard recordings. I'm currently trying to create a quintessential playlist of dozens of the best live performances and would love to get my hands on more shows to work through.

Does anyone on here have master copies, flacs, etc of any amazing SBD shows? So many shows have come and gone from DimeaDozen and TheTradersden and Guitars101 over the years that I certainly missed a lot, and there has to be an underground trading circle for this group, right? Please hit me up and share the love. I can't wait to share what I've got for this compilation, but I still need to complete it... Thanks!

Vermont show a mixed bag :/

i always buy Cake tickets when they play the northeast, and i was so glad they came back to VT for the first time in more than a decade! Clap-along to War Pigs as an encore for a bunch of 50-somethings introducing their kids to Cake? Yes, please! The cynical banter and tree give away are always fun, even if it's the same patter each year. And I love the sunset call outs.

I really wish we got to see and hear more of the rest of the band, though. The lone bass solo, 4-5 guitar moments and a few horn solos were only 15-30 seconds long. Aside from those few times, the other band members were literally in the shadows the whole night with NO lighting on them. Honestly it was pretty weird.

One of the best parts of seeing live music is watching the musicians, especially in the moments when they're not being the stars of the show, but the only one you could actually see was John. I've never been to a show where the lead singer didn't at least introduce the other musicians on stage. Poor drummer dude was completely set dressing.

It's one of those things that once you see if you can't unsee it and it kind of ruined it for me. Has it always been like this and I never noticed?

I'm not sure i'll ever go see them again. it sucks because I've loved their music since Motorcade of Generosity and seeing them live has been a birthday month tradition going back to 2012.

Seeing them tonight for the first time ever, it's a bucket list item for me! Pretty stoked!! Anyone else going to be in Montréal later? Also is there an opening act?
